Came here in summer 2026 (July '26) with family during their soft opening and have to say they are doing a great thing. We ordered a mix of dumplings and some dim sum and specialty drinks. Their menu was somewhat limited due to their soft opening but for what they did serve we were very well pleased. Service was friendly and restaurant was clean and relaxed. They seemed to be pretty busy for a Monday afternoon. Ambiance is very modern and feels like you are transported to China as the decor is quite well done. Now for the food.. the dumplings and dim sum were absolutely fantastic. Drinks were on point and I would say their location is dynamite. Located in the Mall of Georgia right across from Red Robin. Parking is the only thing I would say is a little tricky as their shared parking lot was packed. Service wise, Loreal was absolutely awesome and very friendly as well helpful and efficient. Southern hospitality with fast and quick service. She checked on us and made sure our entire meal was on point along with the manager who was also very kind. Dined in on a Friday night, there was a very long wait so be prepared! They do not take reservations at this time and towards the end of our wait (around 1 hour 15 minutes, they were turning people away). Not much room for waiting but it is by a mall so lots of room to walk around while you wait. The restaurant is a little small. But service is very quick, our food arrived very quickly after we ordered it. I think better pacing if the dishes could bump this restaurant to next caliber along with the service being a little more professional. We were delivered the wrong dish twice and had to send it back. Once we were sat, we were greeted quickly. This restaurant is very similar to Din Tai Fung. The food was very tasty and flavorful. You can see the soup dumplings being made in the restaurant. We ordered the Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, these have a really flavorful soup with pork, more broth than Din Tai Fung which I actually prefer! Lovely vinegar as well that compliments the Soup dumpling well. A must order. We got crispy dough which was okay. The Scallion pancake was delicious and something I would order again. Perfect flakiness. The pork fried buns were delicious, very doughy but so good. We also ordered the Shanghai Sweet and Sour Pork spare ribs that were delicious, the sauce is so good and is what makes this dish, however, prefer Din Tai Fung's to Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings. Also ordered the Sautéed Green Beans which added a nice freshness to the meal. For dessert we ordered the Pumpkin Cakes which is tasty if you are into pumpkin flavored things. Overall, I really enjoyed our time here and think this is very worth the cost. We were excited for months to try this place when they finally opened, and it was a bit disappointing. The soup dumplings were truly a let down, very bland and too big to fit in anyone's mouth in one bite (and I think we all agree that if you have to bite or cut one in half, it kind of defeats the point); however, the peripheral menu items were very good. The pork dumplings, beef soup, fried rice, and spring rolls were all delicious and very flavorful. The service was quite lacking, and our server seemed borderline angry we had the audacity to come dine in her section. The restaurant itself is well decorated and themed, but the tables themselves are WAY too close together. Even small children can barely fit between them; the little serving robot that roams around also couldn't get through. I completely understand the need to maximize profit by fitting in as many tables as possible, but when the wait staff can't get to their tables it's a problem. I genuinely don't like leaving a negative review - but when a restaurant is named for a menu item and that menu item is the worst offering they have ... it's a bit disappointing. Waited about 40 minutes for a table for two of us so not bad for a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed all of the food item we ordered. The udon was delicious and easily shareable. The soup dumplings were also very good and filling. The hot and sour soup had a kick to it and was pretty thick. It was a large portion size but probably our least favorite thing. Ok this is a Michelin recommended so I had high hopes for this place. Waited about 40 mins but they give you a beeper so we had a drink at the Red Robin across the mall while we waited. A couple of notes, it's literally next to the theater and there is an outside entrance and a mall entrance. They do not have alcohol at least they didn't when we went. They said they didn't have people to work the bar. The feel of the restaurant is very much a mall feel. Like when your in Vegas at a restaurant in a hotel. It lacked personality. To make things worse we're put in a corner table and the area smelled like urine. Like a subway. The theater is next door and not sure if the restaurant was built next to the men's room of the theater. Service was not at all what I would expect for any restaurant let alone a Michelin recommended. They did not even ask if we wanted drinks. We asked what waitress recommended but she didn't have much. We ordered the pan fried dumplings, the seafood udon noodles, the veggie dumplings and pickled cukes. The food came out in reasonable times. The cukes were good, this is a cold side but lacked flavor of some kind. I feel like it needed a little sweetness and acid. Could have used a little salt. The undone noodles looked good but the scallops were so small they were hard to pick up. Again it lacked the pizzazz. A little sweetness and acid. It was lack luster. The pan dumplings were good. The veggie dumplings definitely needed something. All in all for a Michelin recommended it was a disappointment. I'm not sure I would ever go back. Lovely dining room with lots of servers. We waited 1.5 hours for a table. The dumplings were good, as expected. Not exceptional but definitely on the better side of average. The west lake beef soup was rather bland (no cilantro?) and the fried dough was a bit oily. My husband had the spicy beef and tripe and enjoyed it very much. It is a generous size, bigger than we expected so we ordered way too much food. We also ordered the dry beef and peppers noodles. They were a little spicy and the noodles had very good texture. The food we ordered all came so quickly! We got the pork xlb, crab xlb, pork chop noodles, tofu appetizer, hot and sour soup. The noodle texture was really good and I thought the soup was pretty good for a clear soup, could've used a little more pepper but it was salty enough. The pork chop was okay, a little overfried and I didn't like that it came with the bone, it was pretty stuck on the bone type of pork. The hot and sour soup was so good! Perfectly balanced. The tofu appetizer was okay, definitely could've been a little colder than it was and more tofu as it was very celery heavy. We got to try out the soft opening of Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings at Mall of Georgia today. Their soup dumplings menu is still limited to only four types for now until their official grand opening on August 3rd. We came around lunch time on a weekday and there was no wait so we were seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. Every server offered to help and check in on us so you didn't have a dedicated server. Prices are much cheaper that DTF. The soup dumplings are around $12-14 for 6. Majority of the appetizers are around $8-10. The larger portion entrees are around $14. Portion size is decent. Now the important part, the food! - Nan Xiang soup dumplings: their signature pork dumplings. Flavor was good but not super memorable. Plenty of soup. - Truffle & pork soup dumplings: Definitely a WOW moment. The umami from the soup was perfect. - Garlic string beans: Good but not memorable. Definitely very disappointing because I still dream about the garlic string beans at DTF so I was hoping this would be close but it wasn't it. - Beef udon: Just ok. Pretty lackluster. - Short ribs: This is a no. Flavors are odd. It's not savory, it's not sweet. It's kinda sour? Texture is just soft. I was expecting a nice char on the outside with a thick sticky sauce and tender in the middle. This was not it. Overall, it was ok. I wished they offered larger spoons to catch all the juice when you pierce through the dumpling. The skin is thicker than I would like so I find the soup dumplings at DTF to be much better. None of the other items we got really impressed me. Finally tried Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings! This was my second attempt as the first time the wait was too long before a movie time and they do not accept reservations. I arrived on a Friday afternoon just after opening and was able to walk right in. The food came out quick and was hot and delicious. I had the Nan Xiang pork soup dumplings and chicken udon noodles. The service itself, minus the food coming out quickly with the runners, was inconsistent. I was met quickly by my server and then disappeared most of the time. Once to fill water and then took a long time to flag them down for my check. Thankfully I did not have anywhere to go right after. After waiting almost 2 years, longingly passing by, Nanxiang Soup Dumpling has FINALLY opened their doors today to the public. As you know from my enthusiasm around this business opening and my superfanning about their original Flushing location that I've been visiting since 2008, I am so happy they are near me in Buford. Every month, I've been posting updates to friends. Now, I finally have the best update of all. The soup dumpling game in Metro Atlanta will never be the same now that their classic Shanghainese xiaolongbao have arrived. The atmosphere is gorgeous retro Shanghainese noir feel, with classic music playing. Along with a massive glass wall to see all the dumplings and wrappers made fresh to order. They have an exclusive section of their menu, just for the Buford Mall of Georgia location, called: Six Color Dumplings. The highest chef recommended being their squid ink fish dumplings, which are perfectly not overseasoned and not too fishy either. We came here during the soft opening and it was pretty good. It was a weeknight and you cannot put your name in ahead of time. It was only a 20 minute wait when we arrived and so we put our name in a walked around the mall, yes this is inside the mall. We got called back prior to 20 minutes, but then had to wait while they set the table. We were seated at a nice booth and had a view of the bar that was not operable. The menu had lots of good options including the largest variety of soup dumplings I have ever seen. I guess it is in the name of the restaurant right?! We started with the scallion pancake which was really good, not too oily. We also got the beef tendon, which had sauce that was not numbing and lots of chewy pieces, not my favorite. We got the regular pork soup dumplings and they were amazing! Some of the best we've ever had, with thin skin and lots of soup. Aside from the items in my first review I have now also tried all of the following menu items: [ THE FOOD ] SCALLION PANCAKES w/beef (4.5 stars) | $10.75 The pancakes by themselves are tasty although the beef is a bit chewy, but the dipping sauce is what really brings home the pizazz. This time I ordered it as it comes (with the shrimp and ham) and I loved it, but I must say it wasn't quite as flavorful as that first visit. Still very good though, but I was expecting it to be five stars this time. Maybe the third time will be the charm. TURNIP HAM PUFFS (3.75 stars) | $7 I like them a lot, but I'm not sure if I would order them again. LUCKY SIX DUMPLINGS (3.5 stars) | $14.50 Most all of the dumplings grew on me oddly AFTER eating... especially the Scallop (pink), which was too fishy at first, but left a satisfying taste in my mouth after. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Overall most everything I've ordered so far has been good, but there are three items that will draw me back time and time again - The Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Nan Xiang Fried Rice, and Scallion Pancakes w/sliced beef. The green beans are also worth mentioning in my favorites category, but they are rather expensive considering they cost about the same as any other entrée. I mean, they're good, but they're just green beans. The only item I didn't try, but my son really enjoyed was the Beef Stir-Fried Udon. Items that I thought were good, but probably wouldn't order again are the Shanghai sweet-and-sour Spare Pork Ribs, the Turnip Ham Puffs, and the Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls. The Soup Dumplings were interesting and worth trying, but not my cup of tea. I actually prefer dumplings in the soup (like at Jinya) rather than soup in the dumplings. Items that I thought were just OK include the pan fried crispy noodles with pork, shrimp, and fish. The Gourd Luffa dumpling was also just mid. Lastly, the only items I absolutely did not like were the iced soybean milk and sweet soybean pudding. We also had the variety soup dumplings, each, and every one of them were delightful in their own way I had the pan fried pork buns, they were delicious. Extremely disappointing experience at Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao. I called ahead to place a takeout order, but three different employees gave me three different answers. One said I could order over the phone, another told me to wait, and a third said takeout orders could only be placed in person. I arrived at 11:50 AM and was told the restaurant wouldn't open until 12:00 PM. I waited until noon, only to be told they had to ask the manager whether they could even take a takeout order because they "might not have any takeout containers." Eventually they accepted my order, and I was the second order of the day. While I waited, more than a dozen dine-in customers were seated. Table after table received their food, including the exact same dishes I had ordered, while my takeout order was ignored. After about 20 minutes, I asked the front desk how much longer it would take. She told me another 20 minutes. When I questioned why, since I was the second order placed that day, she went to the kitchen and came back saying she saw my food being packed. I waited another 10 minutes, and still nothing came out. By this point, I had been waiting for over 30 minutes. Some dine-in customers had already finished eating and were paying their bills, while I still hadn't received my takeout. I finally asked for a refund. Even that took another 10-15 minutes because the manager didn't seem to know how to process a simple refund. The worst part wasn't just the wait--it was the complete lack of management. No one apologized, no one explained what went wrong, and no one offered any solution. The manager seemed completely unprepared and handled the situation like someone with no experience. This was one of the most disorganized restaurant experiences I've ever had. I won't be coming back, and I cannot recommend this location to anyone. read more

I was super excited to try this place. I went on a Saturday, walked in at 11am to put myself on the waitlist (I was the 3rd party). At noon I was promptly seated and ordered the following dishes: Pork soup dumpling, spicy pork wonton, garlic green beans, shanghai pork ribs, and pan fried noodles. After waiting a few mins the server came back and told us they were out of the green beans, Shanghai pork ribs, and pan fried noodles. So I ordered the bok choy dish. The pork soup dumplings were very good and tasty. My partner liked the wontons. And the bok choy was just ok. My complaint is that they should have offered a limited menu for their soft opening instead of having the full menu as my table and lot of other guests were let down because they were almost out of everything. We'd wait about 10-15mins for our food just for the sever to come back and tell us the kitchen ran out. I'll give this place a try closer to the end of the year when they've got their inventory worked out. read more

People need to understand that this place JUST opened a week ago AND is hyped as a michelin recommended chain. You are going to wait a while if you come at peak hours, it just is what it is. You're in a mall, wait inside the mall. That being said, go in first thing when you get to the mall and put your name down on the waitlist. That way you can shop while you wait and you can show up when the text comes over. The food was good, i don't know about the other reviews, but the dumplings weren't thick at all and they were very juicy. Way juicier than dumpling master across the street. Our servers were attentive and came by frequently to check in and fill our waters. The fillings were seasoned well, tender, and aromatic. I prefer these over Din Tai Fung, as someone who has spent a good amount of time in California. The scallion pancake was crispy and cooked thoroughly and the the meatballs i got were also delicious, but very heavy. The beef noodle soup i got was also very hearty, definitely would get this again here next time. Overall, even though it's a matter of opinion, take some of the bad reviews lightly as those people were probably upset that they had to wait a while. It was our first time visiting. Food was descent but we are a little disappointed at the service. It was difficult to get a hold of our server. Our water was not refilled. We couldn't find him and there was a problem with our order. Our waiter seems to have forgotten our order and we waited quite awhile and he end up telling us that our food was given to someone else. He did apologize and gave us a complimentary drink at the end. But it took us a long time to find him and inform him about the missing order. It appeared that the restaurant was purposely making customers wait an unreasonable amount of time to create a false image of high demand and exclusivity. Elderly customers and families with young children were left waiting outside unnecessarily.
