The crab sticky fried rice had a super firm texture, and I especially loved the eggs in it. 9/10. The sesame balls with black sesame filling were easily the best sesame balls I've ever had. 9.8/10. The filling was perfectly balanced and not too sweet, the mochi was chewy, and the exterior was nice and crispy. The Peking duck was hitting as usual and is still one of the best I've had. The skin was super crispy while the meat stayed juicy. 9.5/10. The second course of the Peking duck had a chewy chow fun, although I thought it was lacking a little flavor. 8/10. The oysters were flavorful and fresh. 8/10. Service was fast, and I really like that they get the food ready whenever you tell them you're ready. Haven't been here in over 7 years. Our last visit was before they moved up to Duluth. We used to like this place for dim sum. Today we decided to give this place a try. We came for dim sum lunch. The decor at this new place (new to us) was opulent with oversize chandeliers, huge dining hall as if it's meant for a massive Chinese wedding type of dining hall. Dim sum came in carts and as soon as they brought our tea, the cart race to reach us began and we were bombarded with eager aunties offering their plates. We were overwhelmed by the variety. I've been here a few times over the years, and we quite like this place due to its location: it's right next to a Costco. Outside of that, the dim sum is good. There are some differences to how menu items are made/taste from when I first had it, so I feel as though the chef has most likely changed. It's both good and bad because the menu items with taro aren't quite as nice as before, but other things are either the same or better like the Beef Ho Fun for example. The chicken feet have changed too, but both were good. All the classic items are still basically the same. I liked the pan fried chives dumplings and beef cheung fun here. I can't speak for dinner or how it is on the weekdays, but it's quite busy over the weekends, which is expected for dim sum. It's a large space too, but once it's busy, you'll have to take a number and wait for a table. There's some seating along the side of the entrance to wait, but it may still take awhile. Royal China is perhaps the largest, most elegant Dim Sum Restaurants we have been to. The staff welcomed us with warm greetings. Our friend is Taiwanese, so speaking Mandarin helped I'm sure. But it was nice to see how friendly the staff were. The service is by push cart, which is nice, because you get to experience a variety of dishes, some you may be familiar with but also have the ability to explore and try new dishes. I would say we had "the usual", in terms of offerings, including the Sticky Rice, Pork Shumai, Shrimp Shumai, Beef Tripe, Pork Spareribs and a few dishes whose names escape me. My wife order the Salt and Pepper Pork Chops off the menu. They were delicious, moist and flavorful. On to my favorites. The Beef Tripe was by far my favorite dish. The Tripe was simmered in this delicious broth, enhancing the flavors. We finished our meal with Egg Tarts. A favorite dessert, we have had a LOT of egg tarts in our day but I would say this has to be among the best if not THE best Egg Tart we have ever had. The crust was light and flaky. Not one thing disappointed and every single item sparked a "Holy Shirt That's Good" reaction. Even the Green Tea was top notch. Service was very quick and the food carts came by often. We came in around 11:30 am on a Friday and business wasn't hopping yet, so I might suggest waiting til around noon to see if an even larger variety of Dim Sum is sent out. Royal China - Disappointing Experience We have been coming to Royal China every year as part of our Christmas tradition, and we've always loved their Peking duck. Unfortunately, this year's experience was extremely disappointing. The service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes just to get our drinks, and after placing our food order, we waited another hour and a half with no food arriving. We were repeatedly told that the food was "coming soon," but nothing came. For reference, we ordered very simple dishes -- green beans, cauliflower, and eggplant -- items that should not take over an hour to prepare. Eventually, the duck arrived after an hour and a half, but none of the side dishes came with it. We had to speak to the manager three separate times, and the staff was rude and dismissive throughout the experience. The restaurant is very authentic, and we were clearly in the minority as guests, but that should never justify such poor service. Sadly, our five-year tradition of spending Christmas here was completely ruined. If you decide to visit this restaurant, be aware that the service can be extremely disappointing. read more

Even just walking into this establishment, I was impressed! The restaurant itself is so beautiful, with a wide open space and extremely tall ceilings decorated with all kinds of fixtures. They really capture the hustle and bustle of a true dim sum experience. Especially with so many places moving towards the method of just ordering through a digital menu, I really appreciate all the carts being towed around with their pushers trying to entice you to try a few dishes. The quality of the food is pretty decent too, with a wide menu variety. And if you don't see what you're waiting for, you can always put in an order to the kitchen. My only complaints are that it can be kind of hard to flag a server down, and service outside of the carts can be pretty slow. But that's to be expected with how busy the place is. But also some of the shrimp dishes had kind of a mushy texture so not too sure about the freshness of those. read more

This is our go to restaurant for cantonese family dinner style. Their dining hall is huge but feels a little empty sometimes. Simon the manager is our favorite, he always take good care of us when we are there. This was actually where we had our wedding reception since we love the food. Now for s typical family style dinner it's not as exquisite as the wedding dishes. We love the egg yolk lobster and it never disappoints. Another stable is the beef chow fun. We tried the japanese tofu, it was good, but there are much better choices on the menu such as the lamb chop in black pepper sauce and the steamed seabass. I've been here for a wedding celebration but for dim sum the first time over the weekend! The dim sum experience can be very nerving for anyone unfamiliar with the process. Even for myself that has had it many times. I really liked the large dining room and the high ceilings. It made it seem just a little less chaotic. Wait staff came around quickly as soon as we all sat and then again throughout our meal. It is easy to drop $$ since there are no prices labeled and honestly you wouldn't know if you're charged correctly unless you ask for price and keep tabs on what is being marked off on your ticket. Overall food all came out fresh and satisfying. We ordered salt and pepper squid on the side and even though it didn't look like much it was very good. There were a few items they did not have available in the dim sum but we were told we can order off the menu but it would be the large portion which we opt out of. Sundays are supposed to be the busiest and best days to come for dim sum with more offerings. I don't think my social anxiety will allow me to come on a Sunday though. LOL read more

A good dim sum place with good hot food options. One of the better places in Duluth for good Chinese food that is formal. I think Humble House hiding in the Great Wall supermarket makes the best home style cooking but RCR is good for a more formal meal. We ordered the 3 course peking duck- duck was good quality and ther was even a person who carves it for you in person. The rest of the duck is fried off into dishes for you. The duck is served with thin crepes- about 10-15$ a batch but very good. I would highly recommend the duck here for those who are duck lovers and those who want to try a good beijing duck. I think their dim sum is also good. East Pearl used to have the monopoly in this area but I think RCR makes superior dim sum compared to East Pearl. Ordered a steamed fish and it was also well done- the fish is fresh and the hot oil over it was fragrant making this a simple but elegant dish Service was not bad- you do have to be attentive to the carts going around bc some dishes are hard to hunt down once it goes by you. Inside was a big ballroom type of atmosphere with glass balls hanging over you- only problem is that on a hot day the condensation from the AC can drip over your head and food. WARNING: OVERCHARGING SCAM We've been going to Royal China Dim Sum (3960 Venture Drive, Duluth, GA) since its opening, but we consistently encounter surprising overcharges on our bills. Since we always went with our large family, we've never questioned the prices, assuming honesty in charges. However, on March 2nd, we received our bill for $495.85. This already raised our suspicion since this was the least amount we had eaten, and it did not make sense for the high charge. The way their bill is for dim sum is impossible to read. You can never understand how they charge you. We brought the check to the front desk and told them to interpret each item they charged us. They said we ordered a special crab and lobster order, which we never ordered. They also charged us for extra dishes we never received. Despite consuming 32 dishes, we were billed for 45, along with additional fees for spices and tea. After correction, the bill was reduced to $357.10. They charged us $138.75 extra. Imagine how many people they have scammed and overcharged. This is unacceptable and a bad taste for a business. read more

Royal Dim-Sum! It's been a tradition for a handful of years to go to Royal China on New Year's Day with a group of foodie friends who enjoy the variety of treats that await us! I'll be honest - I do not know the names of all the items. Yes there is Shu Mai and chicken feet, sesame balls and sticky rice. Okay so I do know some of the names. We get there rather early for this feast and FYI - the "greens" don't come out until after 11am. Or as we ordered from the official menu and it was one of the best dishes with lots of garlic. We always get the chrysanthemum hot tea (with the rock sugar). This year we also noticed that the amount of carts at the beginning was on point (in prior years they didn't have a lot to offer being so early) and the service was top notch.
