Great reviews on Yelp. In addition to that. I asked for feedback as to how was the sweet potato pound cake, to which they replied. It was their number one seller. I asked if the strawberry velvet cake had cocoa powder in it, which could significantly impact the flavor for those individuals who do not like chocolate covered strawberries. It did not. Not. I had been meaning to try Nana Dot's at a farmers market all year but never got around to it. So when I saw they were taking orders for Thanksgiving I was excited! Bc of covid we had a very small group so didn't need much. I will say delivery was not perfect- they missed their first deadline and called to let me know - and then missed the second deadline by a couple of hours-- which was NOT a problem for us since we weren't eating for a while-- but could have been for others. Still, it's everyone's first covid contactless delivery year so you have to cut a lot of slack to small companies like this one! My main review here is for the southern butter cake which you can pry from my cold dead hands. It is THAT good. Perfectly moist and incredibly good. I ordered 2 sweet potato pies before going on a trip and they asked what time was my flight and delivered them at 6:30AM that morning, TSA packaged and I left for my flight to share with my family out-of-town. Will not be ordering from them again. Ordered for Thanksgiving and it was a nightmare. Not only did I NOT receive my order the day before Thanksgiving, but I wasn't informed that she wouldn't be at farmers market AT ALL before driving all the way down there. Waste of gas and there was 4 other people at the farmers market waiting on her to show up and they didn't. While sitting there, the lady sent an email to us all saying she had kitchen issues and would deliver to our addresses the next day, on Thanksgiving. I did receive my cake until Thanksgiving night and it was subpar at best. The batter was wayyy too thick and the cake was heavy with products. Definitely a cake you make in a hurry. And I didn't even receive the size cake I ordered. Ordered a large cake and received a medium sized one. My experience was not pleasant at all and when you tried to call to see what's going on or get answers, they don't answer the phone. The sweets are delicious and this saddens me to even write this because I know the elder woman behind this company is not the Blame; however the service is horrific!!!!!! So horrible that I will never order from them ever again!!! My family placed an order which was to be ready and delivered the day before Thanksgiving. We received a very confusing and lack luster email that stated something happened and the orders will be delivered late. So we waited!!!! Thanksgiving day around noon we hadn't heard from anyone, so we called to inquire. Immediately the person answered with a negative tone!!! My husband said first let me say Happy Thanksgiving!! Once he said that her tone simmered down. He asked if our order was still a work in progress, she stated yes but again she never provided an ETA, she said that they where an hour away delivering so we waited, and waited and waited! FIVE hours after we ate Thanksgiving dinner we still hadn't heard from them. Around 8pm that night I finally called to inquire again, WHY DID I DO THAT!!! This woman who answered the phone asked where do you live, what's your zip code, then proceeded to say my brother is in Desoto with your order at the moment (an HOUR AWAY) he has eight orders before yours. Here's where she got totally unprofessional, disrespectful and belligerent. I said to her I understand things can happen but I would like to express my concerns with this process. She immediately cut me off and said in a harsh loud TONE, DO YOU! DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND BECAUSE YOUE SAYING YOU UNDERSTAND RIGHT BEFORE YOUR Statement YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOICE YOUE CONCERNS is a problem!!!!! I never got to express my concerns and let her speak. We placed an order to be delivered the day before so that we can enjoy it the day of!!! The problem I have was the none verbal/horrible communication. You send a very vague email, with confusing details, you didn't and wouldn't provide and ETA what kind of business are you running when you can't clearly communicate effectively? All you had to do was say I'm behind with all orders, we apologize and you may or may not get them in time for thanksgiving!!!! Allowing your customers to make that decision early on to prepare. I did say (dayum) at the end and she began to say that people like me is why the world is becoming a problem, she said I had no compassion or empathy, it's just a cake lady!!!After her comment I began to notice she obviously been beaten up emotionally because she unloaded on me.
