    Frozen vegan chai!

Keira (sp?) made an AMAZING frozen coffee!! I will be back! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is fun[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and food was awesome! What a gem!!

Lavender almond latte and cannoli tart. I couldn't help but they can before taking the photo. DO NOT PASS ON THIS TART

I'm a local and I can tell you that locals, visitors, and the Bard college students all love this place for a good reason. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's what one pictures when you think of a "cozy coffee shop", with all the amenities: comfy couches, plenty of outlets, good WiFi, amazing coffee and goodies GALORE.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking: street only (only downside) Service: always friendly [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience: cozy hippy, not hipster. Think groovy pillows and lyrical decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hard tabletop chairs though, for those who may need to sit for hours at a time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Adorable outside seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food: so many options for literally anyone. I've never brought someone who couldn't find something to enjoy, and their breakfast sandwiches are sizable, almost massive Drinks: more options than one would find at Starbucks, for sure. The menu is almost overwhelming, but even if you order something wrong, you're going to enjoy it

    Inside

The food is delicious, extremely attentive and friendly employees, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]such a great cozy warm vibe inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You could easily grab a quick bite or stay and do some work!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also no wait on a snowy Saturday midday which is great.

One of the few places open on an early Tuesday morning. Easy to miss, as the cafe looks more like a house with a garden than a place to eat. Inside, plenty of room with seating at tables and stools along the windows. Kept it light by ordering a Pumpkin Muffin ($3) and a Large Coffee ($2ish). Muffin is fantastic - moist inside with a little crust on top from some seeds. Also like that the pumpkin isn't overpowering, since it would have been weird with the coffee. The drink itself is your basic fare, large but not very strong. There seemed to be a book club meeting of some sort that morning, though it didn't affect service. For warmer days, the outside seating looks inviting.

So the watermelon lemonade they have is unsweetened but have liquid sugar to make up for it, which is nice since you can sightly sweet rather than other places where lemonades taste straight up like syrup. I got the bobo and let me say it's pretty much one-one with breakfast sandwiches you get a NYC bodega made with love. Eggs were runny, bacon was crispy and not charred ash, just the right amount of cheese as well and a crispy hashbrown patty like mc' Donald's. Plus got to love the hot sauce rack they have to customize your food, hot honey worked well. Also I notice someone there loves the label gun, since man everything was spelled out on the counters.

Boy, are there a lot of post-hike options in New Paltz. I stopped by here this past Saturday…read moreafternoon after an 8.7-mile hike in nearby Minnewaska State Park. The weather had been pretty mediocre throughout the day but that clearly hadn't stopped the tourists from invading the downtown area - the place was teeming with people when I came in around 3pmish. I didn't do a ton of research on potential eating spots (a lot of SE Asian eateries, which seemed kind of random?) but picked Lola's because it was a block or two from where I parked, and I immediately imprinted on the Short Rib Grilled Cheese when I saw it on the online menu. Decision made. Since it was starting to get a little nicer out, I would have liked a spot outside in the front patio. But the girl at the check-in (I feel like there's a much better term for that) asked me to go inside, which for sure was a bias against the fact that I was a solo diner. I get it in theory, but it's not fun to get treated like a second-class citizen because you don't have a posse with you in a tourist trap. Regardless, the interior was fine; looked like it had been redone within the last year or so; what it lacked in personality it made up for in terms of overall spiffiness (and the area where the personality DID come through was in the bathroom area, with tongue-in-check "Whatever" gender signs on the doors and edgy art by the sinks. Tell me you're a college town without telling me you're a college town.). The set-up in here is more casual than I assumed; I was told that my table was #10 (the numbers were clearly marked on each table, reminiscent of Smashburger), and that once I decided what I wanted, I needed to go up to the counter to order. Someone WOULD serve the food, but a big chunk of the experience is DIY. I ordered the aforementioned Short Rib Grilled Cheese w/ Fries, along with a Diet Pepsi, and waited. I thought this was pretty inefficient, as there were plenty of employees nearby who easily could have just taken my order at the table instead of having me sit down, then stand up and walk across the restaurant to order, and then sit back down. The wait was a little longer than I would have guessed, just given the straightforward order and casual, almost fast-food style to the business model; it took close to 20 minutes to get my sandwich, I'd guess. Not egregious, and there WERE a number of other customers on the premises as well. The Grilled Cheese was just okay - I tend to grade on a curve after a hike, but I thought it was really drippy/greasy, and I wasn't crazy about the tomato compote it came with (which is a personal palate preference and something that WAS specifically referenced on the menu and I didn't request its exclusion; easy to remove, regardless). The short ribs aspect was unsurprisingly the best part. The fries were decent; a little pale but cooked through. There was a pickle hidden underneath them that was a little emotionally upsetting but it is what it is. This was fine and could have been worse, but the next time I'm in town I'm going to keep walking down the street and trying one of the many other options nearby. The target demo for this feels a little more 2am college student than hungry hiker in the afternoon.

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Misto Eats--Cafe, Market, and Catering is located on S. Broadway, one of the two main streets (the other being Market) which cross to make up the center of Red Hook, NY.  There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant if you don't want to park on the street. You review the posted menu (also available online) and the board listing the day's specials, order, pay, grab a table on either side of the restaurant, and wait for your food to arrive. If you are looking for creative eats, Misto Eats is the place to find them. They also carry lots of pre-made meals (including soups and stews) and various meat and salad preparations along with some grocery items, freshly baked cookies and breads.  The venue itself is airy, bright and warm.  A beautiful place to sit, relax, talk and enjoy some freshly prepared food. Our food came out after a brief wait as everything is made to order.   My wife ordered from the day's specials--Grilled vegetables sandwich on home-made Naan featuring zucchini, cauliflower, oyster mushrooms, goat cheese, and Baba Ghanoush-Hummus.  The sandwich comes with the daily side which today was a delicious home-made potato salad with red onions, chopped fresh Italian parsley, very lightly dressed.  I ordered from the regular menu--"The Little Pickles Sandwich"--and there was nothing "little" or diminutive about it.  The sandwich  included crispy cod fritters on house-made Pão Frances with pickled serrano chili, pickled red onions, baby arugula, and MISTO aioli.  An amazing combination of flavors and while I've eaten many a cod fritter, cake or ball over the years (think pastéis de bacalhau in a Brazilian or Portuguese restaurant), these were among the tastiest I have ever enjoyed.  That they make their own Pão Frances (which were available for purchase in the bakery case as well) helped elevate the palate experience of this dish.  My sandwich also came with a scoop of that lovely potato salad. We really enjoyed our sandwiches, beverages, and the relaxing atmosphere at Misto Eats.  If there weren't so many other wonderful places to explore in the Hudson Valley for lunch and dinner, I would go back to Misto Eats tomorrow to try something else from their creative menu. They are open 11:30 am - 6 pm most days, closed on Mondays.  We will definitely be back in a few weeks for further exploration of the menu
