Spicy pork & curry chicken. I always ask for some curry sauce over my rice. So good!

Nanay's is definitely in my top 5 favorite lunch spots in all of San Diego. The food is so good, & you get out of there quickly. The spicy chicken they have on Tuesdays & Thursdays is my favorite. The curry chicken & bbq chicken is also really good!

Delicious to the last bite! Good food, big portions, all smile friendly service. Spacious common area where you can enjoy the sunshine and people watching.

I go here specifically for the Sisig. Hands down the best Sisig in all of San Diego. You can quote me. This place needs to blow up because of it. I dare you to try it. If you don't like it feel free to message me.

The last time I was here was 3 years ago. I don't know but when I look at the displayed food, it kept getting worst. I don't know if the owner just leave the cooking to others. It doesn't look yummy and bbq chicken is hard, Pancit looks sad and Tortang talong looks pathetic and don't taste like it. Food is expensive but not worth it.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, but the hours here are a little weird. They close at 4pm on weekdays and aren't open on the weekends. I finally had a chance to stop by during their open hours and I'm so glad I got to try it! Service was super friendly and the area had tons of parking. I got the two entree with half fried rice and half pancit (50 cent extra for pancit) and BBQ chicken and BBQ pork. Everything was so good and the portions are big - definitely could feed 2 people or 1 very hungry person.

Quick Great service bbq chicken a lot of flavor . Perfect amount of spices. Can't wait to try another entree

I've been to Nanay's a few times but the last visit, I left underwhelmed. I enjoy the straightforward ordering process, the large portions, and the helpfulness of the staff. However, the food quality is to be improved. The meat (I got pork sisig and chicken bbq) does not seem like it's the freshest, plus I believe the meat is re-used to make different dishes. Like using leftover bbq to make sisig... The lumpia is crispy but the taste is just mediocre. We sat outside in the food court area as there is limited seating inside, making it more of a takeout spot. Don't think I'll be returning as there are other Filipino places with better quality and similar prices around!

Sausage - like a sweet Asian sausage but soft. No snap to the bite. Good.

Ask the Community - Nanay's Best BBQ

Does anyone know if they use betsin/anjimoto/msg in the food? Tia!

    Do they serve lechon?

    Only on Thursdays

Does anyone know what days they have lumpia?? The past two times I've been there, the staff have told me they didn't have any that day. Didn't tell me which days either to come back for it...

Everyday they do. 2 for $1

Hello, Do you cater for about 300ppl for a funeral reception? May 17th…

They have a catering menu. Kind of. But they offer catering party trays. They close at 5pm on weekdays and closed on the weekends. Your best answer is to call them directly

A hint to the wise - go early if you want their famous banana pudding. It sells out fast! Loved the decor - even the decorations in the bathroom are a sort of history lesson. We had the privilege of an extended conversation with one of the owners, Maria Jeannette. The pulled pork was delicious and the smoked meatloaf had just the right amount of smoke. For sides, I got the bacon, potato salad and the Street corn. I did find some shelves in it, which were a little unpleasant, but at least I know that it's real pecans. It does have a strong bourbon flavor so it may not be the best for kids. But it's softballs, not baseballs. Service is legit. Fast, friendly. They're like get in, order, get out. But we stayed for probably an hour and a half. The live music was great, not too loud. I am sad to confess the food here is not as legit as I figured based on being a San Diego local and a big DDD watcher. It probably depends on which day you come, but on Thursday, the brisket was so average. Del's in Del Cerro is better. Smoky and the Brisket is better. I had my brisket served with that nacho cheese and relish, not nearly as great as I thought it would be based on DDD. I also don't drink anymore, but if I were to have had 2-3 beers + this dinner + the enviornment I would have loved it. My son gave a huge thumbs up to his burger, daughter liked her food. If you want an experience, have time you need to kill and have kids, it's a solid spot, but in no way is this a destination if you live west of the 15. Stick to classic spots.

A portion of these plates are very small so I would recommend ordering more than what you would order at all you can eat buffet. Yes price is higher due to higher quality of meat. Also, the ventilation of this place was a little better than the other Korean barbecue place because we didn't really smell that badly afterwards. Overall, this place was great for service, ambience and for food. Highly recommend. However, for other dishes they offered were very much meh. Do not order anything else but meat here.
