Seating: Limited seating you're moreover better sitting outside using the plaza tables/chairs. Vibes: The spot itself is nothing too flashy, your typical Mira Mesa plaza with plenty of good eateries. The restaurant itself is your casual Filipino turo-turo/point point feel. It's decorated with Filipino decor and food, every space used up. Great place for a quick food adventure or family order. FOOD Sisig (Recommend) Masarap! This sisig hit differently, rather than fried and crispy I felt they used different parts of the pork. Then mixed with onions, seasoning and citrus flavors. I enjoyed the textures and the comfort to it. Fried Chicken (Recommend) Another comforting dish - crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and seasoned well rounded. I love that they open at 10 am because I do take my lunch around that time and I love how fast they are. Obviously express food is fast, but they do get you in and out quickly. Nothing fancy, just good, hearty food to fill your belly and satisfy your hanger. We always opt for their fried rice and chicken bbq. I am not a big bbq sauce person but I could drink their's, lol. They give hefty portions and whenever we are in the area during lunch time, we make sure we pay them a visit. Parking is crazy during lunch hours due to the heavy crowds so plan accordingly. Note: they cater mostly to the business district folks so the hours are short. Closed on weekends and open from 10AM-4PM Monday through Friday. The taste was not as great as we thought. Pancit was dry. Calderetta only had 2 chunk of chicken. Dinuguan was too "vinegary". Bottom line: disappointed. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, but the hours here are a little weird. They close at 4pm on weekdays and aren't open on the weekends. Huge outdoor seating area. Popular items seem to be the sliced BBQ chicken, BBQ pork, Curry Chicken, and Garlic Fried Rice. I got the BBQ chicken which was great. The sausage which reminded me of an Asian sweet sausage. But this sausage was thick and soft with no snap to the bite. It had a great taste but I was slightly weirded out by it for some reason. I've been to Nanay's a few times but the last visit, I left underwhelmed. I enjoy the straightforward ordering process, the large portions, and the helpfulness of the staff. However, the food quality is to be improved. The meat (I got pork sisig and chicken bbq) does not seem like it's the freshest, plus I believe the meat is re-used to make different dishes. Like using leftover bbq to make sisig... The lumpia is crispy but the taste is just mediocre. We sat outside in the food court area as there is limited seating inside, making it more of a takeout spot. First time trying this place with my husband. We arrived right before noon so there was no line in front of us. I've been wanting Filipino food but not feeling well enough to make it at home. I read reviews that Nanay's is known for their bbq chicken/pork so we got bbq pork and beef kaldereta. I also wanted some soup so I got one. The food is def yummy. Compared to R&B's the pancit is way less salty with the right amount of flavor. And I love that they mix canton and bihon noodles in their pancit (my favorite blend!!) so that's a plus. I take off points for the small batch of soup with literally one piece of meat and 3 tiny pieces of cabbage. I understand it's a soup but come on!! It's $1.50. At least give me more cabbage or another small piece of meat. Otherwise, the soup was nicely flavored with the right amount of sourness for my liking. Reminds me of my dad's version. The staff was nice and the place was clean upon entry. My suggestion is to label the items for new people want to try Filipino food so they can put a name to the dishes. First time here, on a Thursday during lunchtime and it had a steady line up out the door. The lines moves quickly since you just pick and choose 1 or 2 item combos both under $10. I got the 2 item combo which also comes with rice and a side of steamed vegetables which was a bonus since I decided to go with the chicken and spicy lechon. I didn't know until I read the other Yelp comments that lechon is only during Thursdays. There was the plain one and another one that is slightly spicy with a bit of sauce and mixed vegetables. Both were delicious and they pile it on! It's definitely enough for two people to share. There's an outside patio in the plaza with some umbrellas you can enjoy the food and free parking but hard to find during the lunch rush. Bonus; They also had ube jam for sale near the entrance and I had my eyes on those giant cookies but didn't end up buying either. Next time! read more
