    B2. Grilled Pork
    Cindy L.

Came here for lunch with my mom after noticing this newly opened restaurant and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is small but has plenty of indoor seating, and they offer a happy hour. The menu also has a lot of options and variations of different foods to pick. The service was friendly and attentive, and they even gave us a complimentary Vietnamese dessert with grass jelly, which was a nice touch. My mom ordered the build-your-own pho, but the broth tasted watered down and lacked the rich flavor we were expecting. I had the Grilled Pork (Bún Thịt Nướng). The pork itself was tender and cooked well, but overall the dish didn't have much flavor and could have used more seasoning. Overall, the service was the highlight of our visit, but the food didn't quite meet our expectations. Since they're newly opened, I hope they'll continue to refine the flavors because the staff was welcoming and the restaurant has potential.

This mom and pop restaurant serves delicious food and drinks. With so many options to choose from, it will take a while for you to decide on what to order. I know I did. I ended up with vermicelli with chicken, shrimp tempura, a huge bowl of pho and a galbi rice plate for my son. All were flavorful and made fresh. My son, who is a picky eater actually said he liked his meal! I guess we have found a new spot to dine at. Their dining area is clean and has a few TVs which was perfect to catch FIFA. Service was excellent. We were always checked on and were even provided with dessert at the end. If you're searching for Vietnamese Cuisine and find yourself near Scripps Ranch, give this place a try. You can thank me later.

This is a new location in Scripps Ranch so I had to try. Today I had the beef bone pho and the shakin beef with fries. Both were good, portion sizes were small. And the bone in the pho was so large I didn't get much broth. There wasn't hardly any beef on the bone just lots of tendons, unfortunately I'm not a big fan. Next time I'll try something else. Bonus - they do have a weekday Happy hour 2-5pm. That would be a great time to try a Thai Tea. The staff is friendly.

The dining room was clean. I was expecting more modern newish looking dining area since this is a new restaurant in the area. It must be family owned because there were two teenagers running the front and taking orders. I walked to the counter for a takeout order and neither one of them looked busy. One of them was just sitting on the counter scrolling on his phone. I ordered the S1 and the plain wings, salt and pepper. I'll say that I tasted no salt and no pepper. The wings were more just fried naked. The sandwich was so soggy when I got home not sure if that could've been avoided, but that's how it was. I would like this place to do well, but I think they need to clean up their appearance a little bit.

On a side quest picking up dinner for my son at a neighboring restaurant. I had to check out Pho and Wings, why because I love me a good pork bang mi. The store is nice and clean with a simple menu. The service was good. I was immediately greeted with a smile and asked if I wanted a seat or if I wanted it for to go. The banh mi is made with the shorted but wider baguette. Bread was good. Toasty exterior with a soft interior. Plenty of fresh ingredients with some delicious grilled pork. Very flavorful! Overall, a solid spot for a banh mi. I'm going to have to return and try their pho and wings

Pho and Wings off of Scripps Poway Parkway offers a nice addition to the Vons mall. The place is spacious with plenty of seating. The menu at Pho and Wings covers all the popular dishes from fresh spring rolls, wings of course, banh mi and pho. On this visit I opted for their Beef Rib Pho with rare steak. The 2 beef ribs was tender and had a good amount of meat on the bone. No real flavor or seasoning on the rib but was tender. The broth and noodles were pretty standard and tasted fine. Overall it was a decent pho and very filling. Would love to come back and try the wings.

Great family day, 10 of us! Service was great the food amazing. I'm so glad SR has added new restaurants. The best calamari ever! I'm glad our picky eater enjoyed his pasta with broccoli. Family friendly.

The restaurant is clean and bright. The staff is very nice and friendly. However the food was just ok at best. Their salt n pepper wings were fried chicken that had no breading and it came with sautéed onion n peppers. Spring rolls were smaller than industry standard in the area. Prices were very high for pho and appetizers. One order of spring rolls and wings was $24.75. Ouch! Food was not impressive.

We heard about this new pho restaurant that was open late until 10pm so we decided to go here for a late dinner. They have just opened a couple of weeks so they were quite empty of diners, plus it was late. They had a pho plus drink special so we decided to take advantage of that. Pho was a bit pricey at $17 but the free drinks made it worth it. We ordered a milk tea with boba and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Both were pretty good. We ordered the create your own pho for $17. I picked the raw beef slices, brisket beef, and beef meatballs. The portions were large and the broth was good. We did enjoy what we ordered. Service was good.. The older lady helping us at the beginning was very nice and friendly. Service was switched to a young man when our food was delivered. He seems new and shy

I went in thinking I'd grab a solid bowl of pho and maybe some wings. I left wondering if I've been lied to my entire life about what pho is supposed to taste like. The broth? Absolutely ridiculous. Rich, clean, perfectly balanced, like it's been simmering since 1997 with someone's grandma guarding it 24 7. One sip and I just sat there like... oh. THIS is what it's supposed to be. And then the salt and pepper wings show up and now I'm in trouble. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, that garlic pepper combo hitting exactly how it should. Not too salty, not too greasy, just straight up "why are these this good" energy. I told myself I'd share. That was a lie. This place is low key dangerous. You come in for lunch and leave questioning your entire food standard. Best pho I've had. Not even close.

New Vietnamese restaurant in our neighborhood. Nice and clean place with delicious entrees! We enjoyed everything that we ordered, the appetizer, short rib soup and Bahn mi with grilled pork. Was also surprised they gave us complimentary dessert and I had to ask what it was, glass jelly with coconut cream...it was delicious. Service was good too. We like supporting restaurants in our neighborhood so hopefully this new business will do well.

House special vermicelli, passionfruit green tea
    Aarti P.

I got the House Special Vermicelli without bean sprouts which is always an amazing customization option in an online takeout menu! I also got the Passionfruit Green Tea and it is incredible; I would seriously stop there between errands just to have this tea on the go again! The portion size is so big; this entree has bbq pork, chicken, veggies, an egg roll, and vermicelli, with a side of fish sauce. I will have to go back again and dine in for the pho. So glad we have a pho place in Scripps Ranch now; I hope they stick around.

Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has been on my Yelp Want To Go list ever since my brother and SIL told me…read morethat they really enjoyed a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas and were told that a similar restaurant existed in San Diego. After their experience in Vegas, they tried Shan Xi themselves and glowingly talked about the delish food there. Today, 3/4s of my fam ate here and we definitely concurred with my brother and SIL's favorable assessment. 4.5 stars because their grub was amazing, but it could be more customer friendly where one of the staff checks to see if we need help ordering instead of ordering from the QR code menu. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen is located in the ultra competitive Convoy Asian District specifically on Convoy Street within the Convoy Village shopping center. The restaurant is next to our fave Asian drink place called Yun Tea, it's next to Olleh KBBQ, next door to Szechuan Chef, and a short walk to BB.Q Chicken. This is a popular strip mall, so it could be challenging for you to find parking. Parking is free for 90 minutes, but you'll have to pay after that time ends. Shan Xi is nice inside with gray brick on their walls, decorative lighting surrounded by rattan, Chinese dolls on a shelf, Chinese inspired figurine art on another wall, and a beautiful curio/screen containing Chinese knick knacks. Seating consists of tables/chairs and a long leather bench. Our servers were friendly, but to me having to order from a QR code is impersonal. I'd rather talk to a person, so that I can ask what they recommend. Plus, if diners aren't familiar with this type of cuisine, I'm sure they would have a bunch of questions. From Shan Xi Magic Kitchen's website, "Bringing the bold flavors of Northwest China to San Diego, Shan'xi Magic Kitchen serves authentic regional specialties. Our restaurants specialize in hand-pulled noodles, savory bread-based dishes, and traditional Chinese comfort food prepared with time-honored techniques." After being told that Shan Xi was similar to their positive dining experience at a different Chinese restaurant in Vegas, my brother and SIL tried Shan Xi and they were impressed by what they ate here and told us that we needed to eat here ourselves. Since my wife and I were off midweek, we invited our son to join us for lunch. We ordered the following dishes and feel free to mimick what we ordered: spicy cumin lamb burger, hand pulled noodle with cumin beef, beef magic fried rice, dry fried green beans, and a side of white rice. My brother and SIL love the lamb burger as a appetizer and we really thought it was tasty too. If you're not a spicy fan, this might not be for you, but the lamb was tender. The pita bread needed to be softer. Their hand pulled noodle with cumin beef was stellar, chewy, and delectable. Loved their beef magic fried rice and it ate really well by itself. The fried green beans were addicting, garlicky, and just yummy. I'm a fan Shan Ci and can't wait to try their other entrees. My brother and SIL were spot on with their positive reviews about Shan Xi Magic Kitchen. It was a blessing to have a spontaneous meet up with 3/4s of my fam and grub on some memorable Chinese food.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
