I was next door, waiting for my food, when I saw a person with a big Roasted pig coming out of this place, SIEU SIEU BBQ. I immediately checked them out and found a few that my family likes. I ordered a Half roasted Duck and When I came home i tried right away the Skin part, that's my favorite part of any of the Roasted meats Both the Duck and the Pork are delicious. The Pork skin is still Crispy, but the Duck skin is not . The lady who is doing everything like cutting meat, packing them, and at the same time doing the registry is very nice . My family usually orders Sieu Sieu BBQ whenever we are in the area and are needing entree for dinner. We typically order their roast duck and roast pork. A whole duck costs around $40 and they give you sauce on the side. There are signs posted with pricing, however, did not catch the price of other items. The duck was plentiful and did have a gamey taste than what I am used to, but it wasn't as greasy. I would've liked it to be a littler warmer, but a quick reheat in the microwave would be best to enjoy. They have a limited selection of hot foods at the time, one being sour mustard greens and pork option and the other was pig ear. They do always seem to be in stock of pork and duck, but can sell out on certain holidays! I would've recommend them if you are in the area, but there are other Chinese BBQ shops that do it better in my opinion. read more

Yo, I could not shut up while eating the food I got from here. Pre-COVID this place was okay, but as of late, it seems they've stepped it up a notch. They used to only take cash before, but now they're accepting the plastics! I got a bit of all the big favs in my household--roasted pork, bbq pork, and roasted duck. The roasted pork and bbq pork was f'n JUICYYYY. When the lady behind the counter was prepping our order, she filled it up with the drippings from the pork. Each and every bite came with an oomph and an UGH, since it was so perfect, lol. Roasted duck came with the peeerrrrfect dipping sauce. THEY PAIRED SO WELL TOGETHER! Alllllll of em were cooked to PERFECTION, and they all were seasoned SO WELL! I just love how lightly salted each of the entrees were, plus they didn't go ham on the five spice either! Solid Cantonese barbecue spot! They speak Cantonese and made me feel at home. I ordered two combo plates, with two meats each. One with crispy pork and roast duck, and the other with crispy pork and chasiu (barbecue pork). The crispy pork was very good - skin was nice and crispy, flavor was savory but not overly salty. Chasiu was good too - would have preferred it to be a tiiiiny bit fattier but it was still delicious. The roast duck was mediocre and kind of a miss. Flavor was decent but the texture was too dry. Huge portions with lots of rice, protein, and pickled veggies! Remember to ask for a side of the scallion ginger oil (so good!) They do take card but charge 3% for any card transactions. Okay so I've never really gotten roasted pork or cha siu in San Diego. When I'm in LA I always get them both, but for some reason I just never really bothered with SD. I regret that. The roasted pork here is moist, juicy, flavorful, fresh. The crunch of the skin is still there even after microwaving too. It's not salty at all, and it's so good in the moment, and so good as left overs. The cha siu. Flavorful and also very moist, it's dry in some parts, but I also like that too. It's terrific as left overs as well. I've tried tons of roasted pork places in LA and I have to say this place ranks in the top 5. The meat is so good, even as left overs, and it's not salty at all. Didn't know this place existed until I stumbled into Sieu Sieu BBQ restaurant while visiting another store in the same plaza. No frills restaurant but authentic Cantonese BBQ! When they were chopping the roast pig in pieces, I can hear the crispy sound of the skin. 3 hours at dinner time, the roast pig skin is still crispy and the meat was perfectly seasoned (not too salty)!!! Also got a salted chicken. It was cooked just right, no blood still in the bone. Meat was juicy and tender. They also gave a big container of ginger onion condiment for dipping sauce. Yummy! I grew up eating really good Chinese bbq back on the east coast so I've been somewhat spoiled. This place wasn't bad and I appreciate that they whole roast a pig so when you order the roast pig, you'll get other pieces outside of the typical pork belly. The piece that was served to me was the loin. I usually prefer mines fatty but I did appreciate the tender leaner meat as well. The skin passed the crispy test and was not oily. The charsiu was actually pretty good but I always felt like that's hard to mess up. They also pickle their own veggies and it complemented the meats really well. Make sure you ask for some scallion ginger sauce if you end up trying this place. There's not a lot of places in SD that serve Chinese bbq over rice. I still prefer the Chinese bbq at eastern dynasty but they don't offer rice plates and only serve roasted pork belly. Sieu sieu will offer leaner cuts of pork while still maintaining the crispy skin. This is one of the top Chinese bbq places my my family has in rotation. They have everything from Bbq pork to duck and even noodle soups when dine in was allowed. Im not sure if they're doing soups during COVID. My most recent visit I came by towards the end of the night so I was lucky they still had bbq pork and roast pork. I came here for lunch with a groups of friends. Everyone ordered a variety of items, but I stuck with the Chow Fun because I prefer wide noodles when it comes to Chinese Noodles, and given they are popular for their BBQ Pork, I ordered some with the noodles, including a stir fry of vegetables stirred in with the noodles. The flat noodles were great. They that nice elastically texture and a mild smokiness brought on by the wok preparation. The vegetables, especially the tender pieces of bok choy were not only perfectly cooked, but nicely seasoned as well. The BBQ pork had a unique flavor and color. It was savory of course, but it also had a mild sweet after tasted which I can not explain, only that I enjoyed it. The pork also was very tender and not to fatty. I appreciated the generous amount of meat the piece had relative to fat. The crew who run this small Asian BBQ place are very nice and demonstrate a reserved personalities. They have a warming station that had the bbq pork, duck fat drippings, intestines. They also have two types of roast ducks. I have never tried that splayed out roast duck before. The woman explained in Chinese that it's roast duck but has less fat content because the duck is opened up (allowing more fat to cook out). I ordered: WONTON DUMPLING SOUP $5.95 I told the woman I could not decide between the wonton and the dumpling soup. She said they could do half dumpling/half wonton for me. The shrimp wontons were fat and plump. The dumplings were ok but I only remember the woodear mushrooms in them. The broth was a bit bland and I did prefer the Special Wonton soup (broth) at Sam Woo over this one. COMBINATION CHOW FUN $7.95 There's a variety of noodles you can choose for this noodle dish. When I crave noodles, I always dream about the big fat wide ones. You can choose from spaghetti noodles ( her words - I think spaghetti means their chow mein) and even rice vermicelli. I've been disappointed with roast pork at Sam Woo and other places because the pork skin always ends up being leathery and unpleasant to eat. That's another difference between here and Sam Woo. The workers here don't give you the 'evil eye' if you ask for certain things. I was too stuffed to try the pork when I got home.
