I can't believe I'm waiting until now to write this review. We moved to Oak Island in July. We were told about the bakery by a neighbor very quickly. They have homemade cakes and pies, 1/2 cakes and whole cakes. They offer milk and white chocolate covered goodies like buckeyes and pretzels. They made fantastic chocolate bombs to order. They have lemon bars, chocolate oatmeal candy and pecan sandies. Sometimes they have fresh loaves of sourdough or raisin bread. Everything has been so enjoyable. read more

This is the place that sells baked goods in the NC State Farmers Market, their best known item is the 12 layer chocolate cake. Super friendly staff, we were able to try a few samples of their baked goods. Boyfriend and I left with a piece of Chocolate & Lemon cake. Fresh, delicious. Cakes and more. The family wanted a carrot cake and someone recommended Nancy Joe's for the best carrot cake around. They were spot on. It was so moist even a week later enjoying the leftover piece we took home. Great customer service, we had to add assorted chocolates like peanut butter balls (yum) and chocolate covered coconut balls. They were all delicious. read more

The women working was very kind and welcoming but the desserts we got were all just not good. It's a small space and all the pies and cakes seem to be frozen by the slice, so not exactly what we expected. Had the lemon pie, chocolate pie and key lime and we each tried and bite and tossed all of them. Maybe if it was served fresh it could be better. read more

Stopped in to get the 12 layer chocolate cake and was charged $44.84. Later I seen on Facebook where they had the same cake advertised in March for $25. I preordered two cakes for pickup today for my husbands birthday. I normally purchase my cakes from a bakery in Wilmington that I love, but decided to give this bakery a try as it is much closer to home. I had no idea upon ordering that these cakes would be frozen. If you are planning a party please be mindful that these will take hours to unfreeze. When I mentioned that I was not aware that these cakes would be frozen the man working simply had nothing to say. He didn't even hold the door open for me while I was holding a box of 2 cakes. Point being - be aware cakes are frozen. read more

Oh my gosh. I wish I didn't like it so much here! I have only lived on the island for about 6 months and have been here so many times! This place has great service and excellent pastries. The fact that they sell cake by the slice is great - the yellow cake with chocolate icing and the pig picking cake - those are my favorites! Also, the bourbon chocolate pecan cake is incredible. What a wonderful cupcake! I received a coupon in a direct mail advertising packet for Nancy Jo's Homemade. One of the offers was for a free cupcake just for stopping in. I've been disappointed with cupcakes locally so I decided to stop in. Wow! The strawberry cupcake was bursting with fresh strawberries and wonderfully moist. The frosting was a perfect butter cream strawberry, again with fresh strawberries and tasted homemade! She also gave me a sample of her lemon cake...Yum!
