Wonderful experience!!! The restaurant is so cute! Very spacious, clean, fun decorations and playing country music. The ladies who work there are so nice and personable!!! They have lots of sweets available: soooo many flavors of truffles, cheese cake, a whole display of taffy (you can fill up a bag of any flavors for $10). They also have a case of ice cream. We went for breakfast. They had soooo many coffee options and so many flavors to add. They also have a case of donuts and muffins. Lots of flavors. The glaze donut was soooo good. The service is terrible. I went there on a busy morning and one of the baristas continued to take orders incorrectly but the patrons were blamed. Before I ordered a couple ordered two drinks and one of them hot but they made the other drink hot. First they argued with the customers then they slammed the wrong drink into the trashcan. Then I ordered by drink with two flavors and cold foam. When they gave me my drink it didn't have cold foam and I said "I'm so sorry I requested cold foam" and the baristas snapped at me "no you didn't" then I looked confused and they said "well you didn't pay for it." The cold foam is a 75 cent up charge which I would have happily paid but they rang me up wrong then embarrassed me in front of the rest of the customers. I will NOT be back. read more

Went here on a Sunday they were out of donuts, but came back Monday and they had them, coffee is excellent, I got the walk the plank hot adding caramel sauce so good, and my husband had and americano one time and a brewed coffee the next he said those were good too. Donuts are ok not the best, my kids like them. read more

The male working was very friendly, however the woman was rude and made no effort to assist with allergies. When asked for allergen information, she rudely responded saying the information was unavailable. It seems unacceptable and unsafe that zero allergen information would be available for their products. With that being said, I would have been a lot more accepting of that if the employee had been friendly and had at least made an attempt to help. No greeting, no goodbye, just very unpleasant. The sweets are amazing and filling. The decor is very cute, charming, and mermaid themed. For the amount of people who order, the service is fast. When we sat outside an adolescent cat sat around us. Seems like a cat family lives nearby as we saw a similar one when leaving. Not overly friendly and kept to themselves but never hissed or hurt us. I ordered a chai latte - which was on the menu board. The woman making drinks looked at me like I had four eyes. I ended up telling her how to make it. The final product was ultra sweet but tasted nothing like chai. We actually went for the donut. Most were Bavarian creme. I don't really like that. She said, oh I have a few with regular creme filling. So I got a chocolate iced one. It was a long doughnut. 3/4 of it was empty. No filling. the 1/4 with filling was Bavarian Creme. oh well. The mermaid donuts were delicious. I wish I hadn't left before they opened my last day in town. I would have liked to bring some home with me. The staff was very helpful with questions about the area. It is a very cute shop. I ordered the Ariel's Grotto latte and it was very sweet which is just fine by me! They have a little seating area both inside and out and are connected to a small boutique with lots of cute things. The place itself is really cute. We went in for coffee and all four of us agreed the coffee was terrible! Watered down and did not taste anything like we ordered. My daughter got pumpkin latte and you couldn't even taste the pumpkin over the extreme amount of caramel. We all literally poured our $6 coffees out because they were so bad. Tried this place because it was the first coffee shop open on the island which was much appreciated (not sure why the others don't open until 8 or 9 am) and ended up going here every morning. I got the coconut caramel macchiato and it was so good. My husband got the Ariel's grotto and while it was too sweet for me, he loved it. I've been here several times with my family (wife and daughter), live in Wilmington and have a rental on Oak Island. When we went today my daughter who is 5 expressed interest in saltwater taffy instead of ice cream. Me and my wife were pretty sure she would not like it but we were unable to convince her of this so I made the executive decision to say try 1 and if you like it we will get you some instead of ice cream.....simple enough(1piece) only to be interrupted by the lady behind the counter (who mind you had not said hello or anything yet to us yet, and we had been there 5 or so minutes looking around) who loudly explained her trying a single piece to see if she liked it was not possible.
