Given the quantity of local ice cream stores, I wanted to enjoy a quick and locally owned treat. I walked into the shop and all three of the staff were goofing off and did not greet me (I had to get their attention). I got a two scoop ice cream in a cup with 1 topping, and was charged 8$. A price that, given the location and the extra topping, altogether isn't too egregious and something maybe as a footnote to a usually curt review. Unfortunately, the "two scoop" ice cream portion was insultingly small. I even asked if it was two scoops to be sure, and all three of the staff burst out in laughter at either something one had said or the pathetic amount of ice cream I had been given (who knows). The two scoops didn't even breech the top of the lid of the cup. I could have gotten more ice cream, that tasted the same, for less at somewhere like Dairy Queen. The only reason it has 2 stars instead of 1 is because the small amount of ice cream I did receive was decent. read more

This was a perfect spot for our group. They had a bit of everything: ice cream, snow balls and Italian ice. That meant a great deal to us as one of our group had dairy allergies and most places only offer one or two options for him. He had several options to choose from which was a big deal. Very cute place, it was clean and the girls working were very nice. The kids all got ice cream and the adults ordered coffee drinks. We ordered two iced lattes and one iced red eye, all espresso drinks. No espresso shots were ever pulled for the drinks. We asked the girls working if they forgot the shots and they said they "dont put shots in their lattes, its "cold brew" coffee with flavor. But we can put espresso in there if you would like." We said yes please to the shots (as we were paying for espresso drinks). Still no shots were pulled! We didnt want to push it and make them uncomfortable but in my opinion it should not be posted in multiple spots in the store that you have "Espresso" when it is actually not available (and still charge for it). I also ordered an iced red eye (iced coffee with one shot), she said she could do an iced black eye (iced coffee with two shots). Paid for the black eye but got iced coffee with zero shots! The coffee tasted fine it was the customer service the was poor. I asked for the caramella latté which specified on the menu it has steamed milk. I thought I was getting a hot latté, but the employee handed me a frozen drink. When I asked why it was frozen respectively and confused, he raised his voice blamed it on me for not telling him, when the menu said it was steamed milk and he never asked. He consistently refused to turn around to acknowledge me or make eye contact when I was talking. Decent ice cream shop located in Oak Island. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in to kill time before heading to play trivia. The staff was nice and they will let you sample any of the flavors. I decided to get the Crazy Vanilla in a waffle cone while my boyfriend opted for the Black Cherry in a waffle cone. But we decided to try this place out because it has picnic benches and seating outside AND it wasn't Dairy Queen. Much to our surprise they had everything. Fudge, ice cream (scoop and soft serve), gelato, Italian ice, and some other stuff. I had a shake with syrup. It was delicious. My parents, wife, and three kids all got something too. All in, we paid less than $20. It is in a weird strip mall with another ice cream etc. shop, and a 1/4 block from DQ, so I'm not sure how they all make it. They serve Hershey's Ice Cream here, which if you've ever had, is okay but not great. This review is solely based off the fudge & service because I haven't tried the ice cream or coffee drinks (yet!): I opted to buy fudge from Tropical Treats because the shop seemed like a breath of not-blatantly-racist air next to confederate flag-ridden "Bubba's" next door. There were plenty of fudge options (probably 20+), so we got 4 different 1/4 lb slices (which is slightly more expensive than if you were to buy 1 lb of the same flavor, but fair enough). Fudge is my one serious guilty pleasure every time I go on a beach trip, so I've had my fair share of "homemade" varities, but the PUMPKIN PRALINE from Tropical Treats is the BEST FUDGE I've ever had in my life! SERIOUSLY- it's the ultimate combination of grandma's homemade pumpkin pie & sticky Savannah pralines. Trust me, I know it may not sound like the most appealing flavor, especially when you associate fudge with chocolate a peanut butter, but PLEASE do yourself a favor and give it a try anyways.
