This place is a local neighborhood hangout spot with a jukebox and pool tables. They had a special promotion that day with the Knicks Now by Chat Sports team with complimentary Knicks themed drinks. I went here for a matchmaking cancer fundraiser event (on a Tuesday) so the energy would be completely different if you go, but ironically the person I wound up conversing with wasn't there for the event. They have popcorn at the bar and the two bartenders there were amazing. The drink I often order is hit or miss when made and they definitely made it correctly! Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Pool was only $1 from 12-4 pm on Saturdays. They have a well-kept Diamond table, which is otherwise $2 a rack. The cues are in good condition as well. I got Sadie's Mistake (Campari, sweet vermouth, and Prosecco on the rocks) for $14. I really loved this cocktail. It was so well made that I had to get another. LOVE Sadie's Ward! I came across this bar after seeing a reddit post about their Christmas Day specials - $6 peppermint espresso martinis and $6 whiskey hot chocolate - and a friend and I decided to go around 8. We had such a blast that we ended up staying til 2am. The prices are solid for the area, the drinks are great, and the service is awesome. I decided to change my birthday plans for 12/27 to be at Sadie's Ward instead of the bar I had originally picked because I had such a great experience and wanted to support a women-owned business. Stephanie was able to accommodate my group of 15-20ish people with literally 2 days notice. The bar was poppin off compared to Christmas Day! For a place that seems like more of a dive bar, it really has a more elevated feel and the energy was great even though it was packed. Our group had SO much fun, it was amazing to have a section but then also be able to hang with the rest of the bar crowd. We all loved the music, lots of 2000-2010s hits that night which are always a hit. Superbad was playing on the TVs which was hilarious and matched the vibe of the music. Some of us took advantage of the pool table in the back and the rest of us enjoyed dancing the night away. So happy I found this place!!! read more

My wife and I have been popping into this place ever since it opened after lockdown. There's no shortage of bars in the Lower East Side, but this one truly stands out. Firstly because it attracts a very cool, casual/fun and diverse crowd. Easy to make friends here unless you're a jerk. But also, the management/staff are so incredibly welcoming. Went to Sadie's ward for the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. Bartenders started yelling at us and told us we had to buy a drink at the last 1:30 of the fight. I originally left my review on Google. I will also place it here: I came here with my friends and we sat down to get comfortable. Less than 5 minutes later, a bartender came to our table on multiple occasions asking us to order something. I spent money on the jukebox while I waited for a menu. As I'm reading the menu the bartender comes over two more times and tells us we can't sit in the bar if we're not going to order anything. I was told that the policy was 5 minutes but the moment we walked in we were being pushed to order a drink in less than the 5 minute interval. Kareem was extremely rude and was not trying to hear that we were looking at the menu. I would recommend this place if you want bad vibes and to be discriminated or perceived about whether or not you'll be spending money there. Edit: For transparency, this was the original response from the owner before I edited my review (which appears to have caused their response to be removed): "Did you order a drink? I'm confused?? And discrimination!? You just said the bartender's name is Kareem so as an establishment if we were discriminating anyone, why would we hire a Kareem?? Be smart. You weren't a customer and just sitting at the table waiting out your train ride!" This dismissive, condescending reply only confirms the environment I described. The mention of the bartender's name being "Kareem" does not invalidate my experience of discriminatory treatment. Diversity in staff doesn't equal inclusion -- especially when customers are being policed, rushed, and disrespected. I was, in fact, engaging with the business by spending money on the jukebox and asking for a menu, intending to order. Accusing me of "waiting out a train ride" is a baseless assumption, and the overall tone ("be smart") is completely unprofessional. These kinds of replies are why I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially folks who match my description. This isn't about a single employee -- it's overall systemic. And it's about the culture being upheld. You can hire as many "diverse" employees as you would like but unfortunately that does not change the culture that has been practiced at your establishment. There's a larger issue at hand than the DEI requirements. Understand this. read more

i've never been moved to leave a bad review before, but wow this place needs it. immediately after walking my friend and i were accosted by the male bartender who wrongly assumed we were just coming in to use the bathroom, when in fact we were actually really looking forward to enjoying a drink after a long day of work and just trying to find seating. all we did was walk in and look for a seat and we were shouted at and told "hey if we're gonna use the bathroom then let's buy a drink first" WHICH WE WERE GOING TO DO!!! never before have i been spoken to so patronizingly, and as someone with years of food/service industry, not only do i understand how hard of a job it is, but i also would never treat a prospective customer poorly. as a women, i was thoroughly uncomfortable by a man speaking so aggressively condescending to me. at first i wasn't even going to leave a review, but after perusing the reviews of this place, management seems supremely unprofessional and honestly just plain deranged that i feel the need to warn others of this place. every negative review describes some instance of racism or sexism that is immediately brushed off by whoever is monitoring their reviews. i truly hate to wish ill on anyone, but hope this bar tanks, and quickly. no one employed by this business should ever work in customer service. just total loser behavior. these people need to find a new career/hobby other than riding their bizarre and lame perceived power trip that comes with bartending. read more
