However, the short, dark-skinned employee said something to the employee who was helping me. After that, she told me in Spanish, "Ya no hay" or "Se me acabaron" (I don't remember the exact words). I did tell the employee why didn't she mentioned that when I walked in. I understand it's the Fourth of July, but there was no sign posted indicating that the business would be closing early due to the holiday. I did notice after my son and I walked inside, the same employee instructed the employee to lock the door. I'm also confused about how an ice cream shop can run out of raspados. If the machine was broken, or if you had genuinely run out of ice, that would be completely understandable. I remember visiting once when the shop had run out of ice, and I understood because those things can happen and I was told as soon as walked in and I still stayed amd purchase other items. It seemed like the employee simply didn't want to make the raspado because she wanted to home early for the Fourth of July. So If the business is closing early for a holiday, there should be a sign posted. Otherwise, the business should simply close rather than refuse to serve customers who arrive during posted business hours.
