TLDR: HALAL, yummy and affordable casual dining with a menu focused on Portugese/African chicken! Chicken plates, sandwiches, veg options, and plenty of snacks/desserts!
US visitor here trying one of the most popular traditional UK spots! This location is located in a little plaza/retail center. We parked in the Sainsbury's right next to the plaza and walked it.
It was a Wednesday night at about 7 PM when we walked in, and we easily got a table for 4!
The Nando's menu is extensive with prices between $9-$13. They're known for their Peri Peri sauces (have like 8) and of course...chicken! one of my favorite things about the place is the many veg and vegan options- sweet potato burger, a vegetable/curry rice bowl, vegan sides, etc.
I ordered the sunset roll with the salted Peri Peri chips...and YUM! The portion was definitely smaller than something you'd get in the US (think of a large English muffin sandwich) and was filled with delicious grape jelly, warm cheddar, chicken thigh meat, and lettuce. The pero-naiyse sauce that we ordered separately (additional 60 cents) was delicious and a must-have.
My favorite famous peri-peri sauce was probably the medium with garlic or the mild lemon pepper! Little tip: if you don't want to pay for peri-naiyse, mix some of the hot sauce with free request mayonnaise. Not the same, but close enough! Next time, I'll have to try the hummus. And yes, this location is zabiha/halal! read more
