When we opened up the cardboard container, I was happy to learn that our sandwich was fresh and piping hot. Presentation-wise, it looked like a very well put together sandwich in that it had a very good shape, toasted to a perfect crisp and nothing was falling/leaking out. What caught my eye is the no fancy pictures and drooling fatty burger images that draw your eyes. At the time, I got the Korean Pork Sandwich and it was amazing!!! Fresh ingredients and tasty sauces made for a great tasting sandwich. On the side, is a jalapeno chips which was crispy and very well seasoned. The cost of these items are a bit on the high side, but there is a cost to eating healthier. Around $11 - $14 per meal, you can be coming out of you shopping break quite satisfied. I'm not usually a fan of food courts, mediocre food, loud atmosphere, mostly just for a quick bite. Chachi's simple, clean and new look caught my eye. I wasn't sure what they were selling until I walked up and saw their menu. Even after taking a walk around the entire food court I ended up back here for a sandwich. They have a small but delicious selection of sandwiches that are made from local ingredients. I decided to get the classic Cali sandwich - Chicken breast, BLT, Guacamole and spicy mayo. I was excited to take that first bite and I wasn't disappointed. Soft but slightly toasted baguette, hot melted cheese, crunch of fresh lettuce, savory bacon...mmmmm. Wait where's the chicken? Did they forget my chicken? I took off the top to investigate and started digging through the sandwich. It looked like half my sandwich only had a couple pieces of chicken on it. I brought it up to the counter to let the staff know. Great customer service! Immediately they added more chicken to my sandwich, re toasted my bread (the cheese side) and they gave me a coupon for another sandwich. This is where they made up their 4th star. Yum! I had the Spicy Cajun sandwich today, and I was not disappointed. The artisanal bun was soft and really, really fresh. The tomato slices were juicy, and the lettuce was nice and crispy. I also really enjoyed the Cajun flavour (although it wasn't even close to being spicy, at least not by my Chillihead standards). I probably would have given this place five stars, if they had just given me more meat on my sandwich. Having larger portions of chicken would have gone a long way to making the sandwich more satisfying. Which brings me to my next point. The sandwhich was definitely on the smaller side. I'm only 5'2 and it didn't fill me up (gonna have to go grab another meal after this since my stomach is still rumbling). All things considered, I'd buy this sandwich again. If I could give it less than one star I would. $11 for a sandwich that consists of mostly lettuce is criminal! I ordered the bacon/turkey club which came with one tiny piece of bacon and a thin slice of turkey that didn't even cover 1/2 the sandwich. When I took it back they tried to argue that they put 1.5 oz of turkey on every sandwich. I had to open it and show them. They made another one that wasn't much better. I bought the Cali sandwich which is CHICKEN BREAST, DOUBLE SMOKED BACON, CHEDDAR, HOUSE MADE GUACAMOLE, SPICY MAYO, ROMAINE and TOMATO. Sounds good right? Well it's nasty! It's fake processed chicken with fake grill marks on it like subway but even worse. It was like a white slimy sponge with ridiculous grill marks as if it was grilled fresh on an actual grill. Chachi's is one of the newest sandwich fare at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. Chachi was founded by Derek Brock and Jason Cunnigham - founders of Jugo Juice back in 1998. After selling it's stakes to Quebec based MTY Food Group, the duo decided to focus all their attention on Chachi's Sandwich Bar in 2007. Franchises opened across Calgary. Metrotown is their first location in BC. Chachi's offers a selection of sandwiches on ciabatta bread between $10 to $12, breakfast sandwiches, Mac n' Cheese, salads and sides like chips, pickles and pepperoni. Mac n' Cheese: Comes in two different flavors (regular and spicy with Capicollo). The mac n' cheese is very cheesy and smooth. I particularly enjoyed the subtle heat of the spicy mac n' cheese with capicollo. This was one of my favorite items on the menu. Hot Philly Sandwich: Rib steak with bell peppers, onions, jalapeno, garlic aioli, spicy mayo and provolone cheese. I like the rich, hearty flavors of the beef steak with the kick of jalapeno. Breaky Sandwiches 4.50: Ham and Cheese on an English muffin much like McDonald's but slightly less greasy. Clubbin' Sandwich: BTL sandwich with bacon, turkey, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, garlic aioli, and spicy mayo. It is a good simple sandwich if you are not looking for something fancy. Banh Mi: Beef brisket, asian marinade, pickled carrots, cilantro, jalapeno and garlic aioli. I was not a fan of this sandwich since the beef brisket was too saucey and overly sweet. There is not enough pickled carrots to keep the sandwich light and fresh. Skip this and go to a real Vietnamese restaurant if you craving a real Banh Mi. Pork with Mac: Tender pulled pork, sweet chili BBQ sauce topped with mac n' cheese. This rich sandwich has a good mix of mac and pulled pork. Kind of frustrating as I have been here a few times and it was decent...Came back and ordered the banh mi sandwich. Literally had the smallest amount of meat on a sandwich I think I have ever seen. Paid $30 for 2 sandwiches and what seemed like jalapeño miss vickys chips (very stale) and two bottles of water. Left very hungry. Wasn't in the right mindset to go and start complaining about portions to the girl working the counter - to be honest the vibe I got from her I don't think she would have done anything to resolve my problem anyways. Both times we've been there they screwed up the orders. Gave our take out salad to the wrong person, im sure they were please when they got home. 2nd time we asked for no croutons. They took the liberty of taking the cheese and bacon out as well, leaving only a bowl of kale. Im not even sure how to express how confused I was or why someone would think that would make sense to do. Luckily I checked my order. So they're 0/2 with me. I could write two separate reviews. If it was for my Cali chicken sandwich I would give 5 stars!! So tasty and the perfect amount of sauce and guacamole! Mmmm. As for my husbands Philly it was only a 3.5 star due to the bun to meat/filling ratio...he really wished there was more filling and a softer bun but still said it was a tasty sandwich. We got a side of the Mac and cheese and it was just ok...probably really good on their pulled pork sandwich though! Just a bit too saucy for me but some people probably love their Mac like that. Had the Turkey. It was the size of my hand and 12.00$. Not much meat on it, just one thin layer. It was tasty, but not worth 12$. Maybe if it came with a side. On its own it shouldnt cost more than 6-7$. Everyones saying 'you pay for healthy'.. but Mac & Cheese or Chip sides arent healthy to me, so I couldnt even pay more for some extra food so I'd feel full. Neat to see a hipster (gastown) style fast food stall at the Metrotown food court. However, I feel it is very overpriced for the portion size. I ordered the caesar salad ($8) with croutons and two strips of bacon. It would be nice if the bacon was cut into smaller pieces as well as the croutons. It's one of the better caesar salads I've had, but it's really a small portion - how much does an extra leaf of romaine cost?! The sandwich is also quite small for $10.00 - a porchetta sandwich at Meat and Bread doesn't even cost that much and it's the same size.
