Last time I came to this food court I got majorly ripped off at the food stall that I went to. I was determined not to go back there and that this time I would just go to New York Fries and have a simple order of their Classic Poutine. What could go wrong with that? I wouldn't say anything went wrong but for some reason, the poutine here just didn't seem to be quite as good as it's been at other branches of New York Fries that I've ordered from. It was decent and still better than...the other place I went to last time which shall remain anonymous. Wondering if I'm just having a not so lucky streak at Richmond Centre food court stalls. Hopefully we can end up somewhere else other than this food court the next time we find ourselves needing food in Richmond. read more

I've always walked by this place all the time but ignored it. Today I was craving for fries. I tried The Works! It has beef chili, cheese sauce, bacon and sour cream splattered all over my fries. Loved it! Their fries are crispy, well cooked. Good size! I just ordered the snack size and it was more than enough. It's also served in biodegradable containers with wooden fork. Good for the environment! I'll definitely be back to try the other stuff! Recommend it. read more

In my opinion, NYF makes the best poutine in Canada when it comes to fast food places. Great fries and poutines at every location ive been to so far. On this visit, as i approached the counter to order food, i was ignored for the first 30 or so seconds. maybe they were too busy to notice or they didn't see me. anyway, that day they only accepted cash for some reason. Luckily i had store credit on my NYF mobile app that worked. Thankfully it went through. i ordered The Works regular sized poutine. Wait time was a tad slower than usual. I ordered poutine at other locations and it took 2-3 minutes with 2 people working. 3 people were working at this location and it took almost 5 minutes to get my order ready. There was only one other person ordering fries at the time. (Maybe some of the staff were trainees.) On a positive note, the staff were nice enough and even thanked me for my order. I also like how every NYF location have a bunch of spices and sauces on the counter which you can put on top up your fries. (I wish every place that serves fries had these! Ketchup is just boring) So i put some random spices and a dab of chili sauce on my poutine. So good! The beef chilli underneath makes it a hearty meal which is great if you're very hungry. The blend of the sour cream, cheese sauce, green onions, and bacon bits are what makes it so unique and flavourful. Not too salty either. I also like that this NYF is located in Richmond center food court. Always nice, spacious seating booths, and very clean. More often than not, when I shop at Richmond center I end up having a meal at the food court. Anyway, I will be back someday at NYF to try more of their other poutines. read more

Poutine was one of the things on my list of food items that I wanted to try while visiting Vancouver. My bf and I were walking around the food court of Richmond Shopping Centre when we came upon NYF Poutine. We ordered the Double Cheese with Bacon Poutine because the pictures looked amazing and who doesn't like cheese and bacon together with their fries? Unfortunately, I guess I had too high of an expectation for Canadian poutine that this fast food version seriously disappointed me. There were a lot of fries and chopped green onions, but not enough of melted cheese and bacon. The bacon was also so finely minced that flavor was compromised. My boyfriend's hot dog was not only sad looking, but also sad and dry tasting. The girl just pulled out the hot dog bun from a packaging that I saw at the market and did not even toast the bun. Overall, I'm kind of upset that I didn't get to try out real and more authentic Canadian Poutine while I'm visiting Vancouver. It sucks that NYF is my benchmark for poutine now. read more

You have to find it in the mall. It's on the second floor but super easy to find once you're in the food court. It's good. I like when the cheese is more melted, which it wasn't when I got my order. The gravy was a little on the watery side but flavor met my satisfaction. It'll hit the spot if you're looking for poutine fries. It's fast food so the service was fast, clean, and friendly. Got the munchies and ended up here. Not sure why they call them New York Fries when the chain doesn't exist in New York. Always gives a good chuckle. I had their Large Fries. The fries were kind of soggy. To be honest, I prefer McDonald's fries to these ones. The worst part is that you have to pay a premium. Maybe I was doing it wrong (I only used ketchup this time) but in my books, they are supposed to be good at 1 product, and they failed to deliver. I first discovered NYF back in the late 80's in Toronto when it was just a small shop on Yonge St. Now they've managed to grow up and it's all over North America! Quite often you can find one in your local shopping center in the bigger cities. The concept to cut fresh potatoes and fry them up is so appealing especially back from the 80's when it seemed like everyone was trying to do it McDonalds style. Preformed and overly salted in fat. NYF has stuck to its tried and true formula for all its franchises. Poutine, fries and hotdogs. Solid 3stars which means it's good to go and get a quick carb grub snack. I'm the type of person that doesn't like different types of foods touching each other on a plate, so fries with gravy and cheese wasn't too appealing. Lots of seating as it is in a food court and parking is pretty easy as well! As for cons, the check out and picking up your order was kind of a mess. Usually you'll have a number or something to help differentiate whos order is who's, but they didn't have a clear system. It was more like "this is your order," and "this is his order." Whenever I make a trip to British Columbia, I always, always, ALWAYS make a pit stop to downtown Vancouver to go to Fritzs for vegetarian poutine. However, upon discovering Richmond Centre and thus NY Fries, I am coming here from now on. The gravy was not overly salty like at Fritzs and the cheese curds were soft and oh so melty once the gravy was poured on. I pretty much skipped dim sum at Kirin's for poutine instead. This is one of my guilty pleasures. I give it a 3.5. It is so simple but always satisfy my craving. My favorite thing about their poutine is their fresh fries. They are made with fresh potato with a bit of the skin still on gives it an earthy flavor. My favorite poutine is the veggie works because the tomatoes and onions help balance out the salty and fatty cheese. As for their hot dog it is nothing special it's just a normal hot dog. read more

Probably my favourite thing about Richmond Centre, and one of my top 20 in Richmond (or any other Canadian city, for that matter). This used to be my staple whenever I walked over from school for lunch. I always get the poutine, or regular fries with gravy and cajun seasoning. I can't really explain why they're so good - the fries are thicker than most so each bite is fulfilling, and the skin is salted and fried to crispy perfection. "The Works" and their hotdogs aren't half bad, either. Haven't gotten the chance to try their new poutine flavours (Braised Beef and Butter Chicken) yet because I'm stuck in the US :( Let's be real - the food court employees are all high school kids, so service is so-so. At least they usually make the fries on order, and if they don't you can request it (because refried fries are stale and greasy). The counter isn't too clean because of all the condiments and seasoning that customers drop on there, but what can you expect from a food court? NY Fries has the best fries and gravy I've ever eaten, and I'm excited that they're expanding to Asia. Now, get your butts over to California! PS. Yay for Canadian franchises! read more

I've been a fan of New York Fries for the past couple of years now. I'm not generally a huge fan of fast foods but I would definitely say New York Fries has some of the best fries around Vancouver. It might not be the best fries but it'll be difficult to compete. I've had fries from other places, such as McDonalds, Arby's, A&W, Burger King, and a couple other places but I would say theirs is one of the best I've ever had. I've been to the ones over at Capilano Mall in North Van, Pacific Centre in Downtown, Metrotown, and nowadays since I'm in the neighborhood of Richmond, I've been going to this place and I'm still loving it. read more

How many NYF staff does it take to open a new bottle of Tabasco? Three, actually. The bottle of Tabasco on the counter was empty, and it took them a good few minutes passing the bottle around, trying to open it. Tabasco aside, the fries at the newly renovated Dining Terrace were a bit strange. Initially, we thought they were undercooked, but actually they weren't cold. The cup of fries we ordered were all quite soggy. Now, mind you, I am sometimes quite fond of soggy fries, but I'd rather they be fresh and sog up due to condensation. Allow me to be a little immature, but that word doesn't sound that appealing... But when I found out it was french fries + gravy + cheese and with the option of adding bacon? I was sold. I love this place ever since that first time. Oh, the memories. Whenever I'm at Richmond Centre I seem to always eat here. Fried potatoes just seem to call my name... especially if its covered in gravy and topped off with cheese curds while you're doing strenuous shopping exercise... the extra boost of calories just gives you the kick you need to shop for a few more hours. + no Trans Fat + cooked fresh in front of you... so it's HOT HOT HOT. + the potatoes have skins! + making a full meal out of a side is just awesome! + conveniently inside Richmond Centre - cooked fresh, therefore there's a slight wait time... it's not really a bad thing, I just get impatient for my potatoes. - not so much this store, but in general... there aren't any New York Fries in New York or anywhere else in the US. They're only in Canada. And I think given the name NYF, they should open some in the US. :) read more

Amazing Fries, amazing Poutine! I always love coming here! Their fries are made fresh from i think russet potatoes, their flavor is like no other fries i've ever tried... I thought nothing of it and decided to try myself because there's no way it could be that bad. got some chili cheese fries, and my other friend got a poutine. my friend got a headache, and my stomach started feeling uneasy later on. Fast food will be fast food no matter what, As much as they labelled themselves as gourmet poutine, I question if they are really are really gourmet. It is one thing to have poutine, but when you have poutine with butter chicken or like other exotic flavours into the poutine, it is gonna be a little bit messy. However, trying out their slow roasted beef poutine one time, it was the right poutine to choose since it was the same gravy plus they added some beef to make it a bit saltier and also happens to have some cheese curds. My brother was super adamant about finding Poutine during our trip in Canada. So I yelped it and this was the closest place we could find to our hotel. Ordered a regular poutine (small size). Overall, not too bad for a fast food joint. The french fries are fried well and the cheese curds seem standard. The gravy, though, was a bit salty for my taste. The small size portion is definitely suitable for two people sharing. Nothing too extraordinary, but definitely something to try when you're here in Canada. read more

Was browsing the selections at local mall and decided I felt like a hot dog. Purchased a bacon cheese loaded dog from the New York Fries kiosk. The picture looked good. The actual product was NOT. Without a doubt the most revolting hot dog I have ever had. The cheese was processed cheese whiz, the bacon was the processed pink mush you buy in a bag to sprinkle on salad, and the dog itself was disgusting. I really do feel ill. I found it very helpful that NYFs had a sheet of nutrition facts, that I could look at to figure out how much to have, they are the first restaurant I have found that has them. The staff were very polite, and the hotdog was delicious. Disappointingly, I found some of the fries to be a bit hard, and some a bit soft, but none that were extraordinary. Delicious fries, a little pricey, but good. I have tried the original, butter chicken, and pulled pork. The original is very average, but you can exactly expect much from just gravy and cheese right? I have gotten the butter chicken 3 times and every time it was DELICIOUS. I would definitely recommend. The next time I went I got the pulled pork and was slightly disappointed as the picture on the menu board was very misleading. It still tasted pretty good but pretty average.
