This is a chain that I really enjoy. I wish we had some in California in Nevada. But we first got introduced to Nando's when we were in London. And now it's a must stop whenever I'm in the DC area or Chicago. For my kids, they have some great meals where everything is very fresh, we got chicken strips and mac & cheese meals. For the wife and I we got the whole chicken option which is shareable with two sides. We chose, honey, glazed cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts in their special mayonnaise sauce. They are an interesting fast, casual restaurant as they provide ceramic plates and silverware, which is different than the traditional recyclable plates and silverware. If you've never been to Nandos at South African in Portuguese. Most of all the entrées are flame grilled and spiced. Definitely check out the medium with herbs sauce. The food was excellent. My friend and I had the 24 piece wings with fries. I always like the nando's pea mash. The dining room was clean and well kept. But the service was abysmal. The guy taking the orders, curly hair, was either stoned or heavily medicated. He had absolutely no personality, and he stumbled over the simplest parts of taking an order. When he spoke it was as if he were on thorazine. The guy roaming the restaurant handing out food, young guy, dark hair, was worse. He wandered expressionless around the restaurant. He refused to make eye contact with any customer and he never said a single word that wasn't dragged out of him. When he dropped off the food he essentially literally dropped the plates on the table and walked away. It looked like he hated his job. The kitchen staff were turning and burning impressively. This was my first Nando's years ago so I have a soft spot for this location. If you're uninitiated, get a chicken entree with a side or two as your first meal to get the full idea. I'd recommend getting rice or garlic bread because they really highlight what nando's is outside of the sauce. That and that bottomless peach tea. Get that, and refill it a couple times too. Bonus points if you snag a nata or 2. Don't ask questions, just eat it. I also like the rainbow bowls and the spicy caesar wrap. This location has gotten a lot better in terms of order accuracy and speed, but it might be the lack of newness to the area. You order on your phone or at the counter, they bring your food, and they bus your table after you leave. Pretty much everything else is up to you, so I don't expect much in terms of service. Overall, one of my go-tos and honestly glad we have one so close. read more

I came here for lunch. You will find this place in a trendy outdoor food court. There is metered street parking, a metered parking lot and a commercial garage within a reasonable walking distance. They have a decent sized dining area, an out door seating area on the sidewalk out front and a large patio area on the other side of the sidewalk to sit and eat. The inside is very hip and trendy. They do not offer table service. You are seated and place an order using a QR code. After you place your order, they will bring your food to your table though. If you do not have a phone or is not tech savvy, they do have paper menus available and will assist you in ordering. The staff there was friendly enough. I only had limited interaction with them though. The restaurant is part of a small chain and they serve delicious Peruvian food. I ordered the mango & lime chicken wings, with Peri chips (aka Fries), Peri honey sweet potatoes and a naughty natas for desert. The restaurant is none for its sauces, which you will find in a self serve station by the drink area. The sauces include: lemon herb, garlic, medium, hot, XX hot, and orginal. It took about 12 minutes for them to bring me out my food. It was fresh and hot. It was something different for me, but was delicious. The wings were good. I got some of the medium sauce to dip it in. The sweet potatoes were awesome. They were very unique and flavorful. I highly recommend them. The fries were very good, well seasoned. Great choice for a place to grab lunch or dinner. I stopped by to place an order for takeout and it took about 10-15 minutes since they cook the chicken on the grill to order. Inside was spacious and had plenty of seating. I had the 1/2 chicken along with fries and brussel sprouts. They had this special mayo based sauce on the brussel sprouts that was so delicious. You can also get the other peri sauces to go in little plastic containers and they had plenty of choices from lemon garlic to hot sauce. This location is horrible! The first time I tried them I ordered catering and the complete order was wrong after spending over $250 for a team lunch. I decided to try them again today. I went in for takeout and ordered the Chicken salad. I asked the employee preparing my bag to make sure there was dressing in the bag before sealing it. He literally looked in the bag and confirmed I had dressing! I got all the way back to work and NOOOOOOO dressing WT@%#$?? I then called the store and spoke to a manager. I loved Nando's when I tried them in Chicago a few years ago- and I found it near where we were staying in crystal city so we went there. I cannot remember what I tried before, but I was sure I would enjoy anything with rice and chicken. We chose to just seat ourselves and order online from our table (which I think is great and convenient). We ordered and entered our table number accurately, but it seemed servers were confused between ours and people sitting next to us. They delivered their food to us, and my bf got a drink cup when he had ordered sangria. They were not friendly either. The other location was so much better. I liked the peach rooibos tea. I wish it was unsweetened, because it's always easy to add sugar. But there's no removing sugar from sweetened tea. I had a bowl which had many toppings like hummus, and corn. It was delicious. My bf ordered one chicken breast with a small side of rice, and it was $14 - I think that particular one is overpriced. Not a good value. I would not recommend it. After I was seated, I used my phone to scan their QR code and ordered two 1/4 lemon & herb chicken legs with 2 sides. For my sides, I got the corn on the cob and mixed leaf salad. For my drink I got a 16oz pineapple lemonade. They have an open kitchen, so you can actually tell when your food is about ready. My dinner here was fantastic. I ordered the half chicken with two sides which was about $18. For my sides I choose the garlic bread and the spiced peas. I was really impressed on the amount of food and how delicious everything was. The peas had a wonderful mint spice blend on them and the chicken was perfectly juicy. They have a sauce station where you can get cups of their different flavors of their peri peri sauce. I had plenty to take home for leftovers. I noticed that they do family meals here as well so it would be a great place to grab to go dinner for a family. The medium spice on the chicken was perfect for me but if you are not a fan on heat they have plain or other sauces that are not spicy for you. read more

My concern is that if the dining room is so dirty, how clean and safe is the kitchen? Overall very dirty place. About service no Hi or thank you. Food was ok, price average for the area. Came in for dinner with a group of co-workers. the restaurant was decently busy during their dinner rush. We were not greeted by and hostess, but they do have a pretty unique self seating model, where you can go to any open table sit down and order from a QR code sitting on the table. I really enjoyed that because sometimes you really aren't in the mood to interact with staff and you would rather just order food and keep it pushing with your group. One thing I didn't t appreciate is we had a somewhat larger group and hand to split between two different booths that they had to offer. Which isn't a problem, but what was is the fact the booths were a large wrap around style booth chair, but the table itself was pretty tiny. Small to the point where two people will be able to use the table comfortably, anything past two people using the table with multiple food plates and drinks it can get crowded pretty easily. I was pretty excited for the food as the menu was filled with all types of colorful and unique items, but i was quickly let down when everything came out. There was nothing wrong with the preparation of the food, everything was cooked properly and came out hot, but there was just nothing that really left a lasting impression to me as far as taste. Pretty boring in my opinion. And the Mac and cheese that they were pushing so hard in a lot of their menu items really reminded me of getting Mac in cheese from your grocery store food bar and heating it up. And it was more a macaroni salad kind of Mac not a classic Mac and cheese. I did really enjoy my Brussels sprouts and rice that i had ordered as a side dish. They was a bad experience, but this is for not the place for everyone. if say you have kids or are just young adult this might be a hit for you. I had Nando's for the first time in London, so I was really happy to stumble upon one in DC while I was visiting. The sauces and the juiciness of the chicken are what shine through every time. I really enjoy the garlic and hot sauces with the chicken and the fries. They have thick fries which I personally enjoy more than typical thin fries since you can taste more of the potato. I've never tried peri-peri chicken before but I'm glad it was here! An Afro-Portuguese restaurant (according to Uber eats). My food was a pickup order which was done within 15-20 minutes. Quick and easy handoff from the waitress/host. Service was friendly and the host was attentive. The peri-peri bowl was flavorful. I enjoyed the moist and tenderness of the chicken. Their hot had a good kick, I wouldn't recommend for the faint of tongues, but honestly it wasn't too spicy for me. I like that even with the spice, it didn't overwhelm the taste. Everything in the bowl complimented each other so well, from the rice to the veggies. The green veggies did have a small aftertaste but I mean it's veggies..can't be too surprised. The blood Orange mango lemonade -- the name instant caught my attention and i had the sudden urge to try!! I was not disappointed. I was expecting some bitterness but the mango seems to balance that?! amazing. Sadly the closest one to cali is Illinois but I would love to try this again whenever I'm in DC!! I love that it's a slightly healthier option than most other spots, and it helps that the food comes out fast. We stopped in here for the first time on a Sunday night for dinner. It's a super casual spot so we decided to dine in. My wife and I love Peruvian chicken spots and wanted to check this place out. I appreciate the information but it was a little hard to take it all in while I was struggling to get out of my coat and get seated. The ordering is all online via QR code. It was somewhat complicated honestly. We are used to using QR codes but I found the ordering process to be somewhat of a hassle due to the website. It was fine, we eventually ordered and the entire process was pretty great afterwards. I ordered the half chicken with one side. I chose the plain-ish chicken since it was my first visit and my side was fried with the peri-ranch. My wife got the Peri peri chicken bowl. Our food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering and the order was hot, delicious and the portions were huge! My chicken was absolutely amazing. It had so much flavor and stayed so juicy. I basically sampled every sauce they have... my favorite being the herb sauce and the peri ranch. My wife's chicken was pretty dry which was a bummer. She ultimately used most of my peri ranch on her bowl for moisture. The rice in her bowl was so flavorful but that's about it. The hummus and everything else was pretty bland. I've never had a complaint in regard to my food not tasting well or being served at an incorrect temperature. As if the food isn't already great tasting alone, their sauces really improve the flavor! Try them. They also offer salads, shareable platters, desert and some wine options. Ambiance: Tables are set-up outside in the summer for outdoor dining. In the winter, there is a ice-skating rink outside of this location. Inside the restaurant can sometimes be loud due to the restaurant being busy. Value: fair for the most part. 1/4 chicken with one side is about $10. The wings are pricey in my opinion because they are really small. Service: Overall great, but they sometimes take a while to prepare the food, even when there aren't many customers. There is also a sign by the door where I think people usually check-in, but there isn't an employee there to greet patrons and ask if they've visiter before so I've noticed some people visit for the first time and stand there for a while before realizing that they can order and seat themselves. Ordered a very large order right when they were opening and was hopeful it would be ready on time, right at lunch time. When I arrived to pick up the order, I noticed that they started to get busy with the lunch rush. I was assisted by Jason, appeared to be a manager, who stepped in as soon as he saw the line getting a little long. He was extremely polite and very helpful. I live near this Nando's so had to try this location. Location is right in a pavilion area with lots of outdoor seating available. I've usually gotten the chicken thighs but wanted to try their new peri peri chicken bowl, mainly because the amount of rice you get is insane! I have missed Nando's since I left the Washington D.C. area, so I was very happy when I discovered one near my hotel. The food was good and consistent with the Nando's quality that I have had at other Nando's localities. The problem was the service and service model. When you enter the restaurant there is a sign that says please wait to be seated, the host will then greet you and ask if you want to sit outside or inside. If you sit outside you are supposed to order through a QR code, and if you sit inside you can order from the register directly. This is where the problem ensued: we elected to sit outside, and the person who seated us was quick to state that if we have any issues please let them know. We tried several times to order through the QR code, but it didn't work - I eventually figured this was because Nando's had updated their system since last time I had dined at one, so when I tried to order through my Nando's account it kept giving me an error because there was no phone number, and yet there was no place to add a phone number. Long story short, after several minutes I frustratingly approached the young lady who had sat us (who also may have been a supervisor or manager) who sort of superficially stated "oh we can assist with that" but did nothing. So I went into the restaurant to order, told the staff I had not been able to order through the app/website and they all looked at me confused and so I finally said can I just order here and they agreed. I also forgot to get a copy of the receipt so I went back to a copy of the receipt so that I can get my Nando's points to use for a future discount, and after initially being told they could produce one they then said they couldn't because the person who took my order never got my name. The chicken was good though, I had the skewers and my husband had the chicken thighs, like I said no complaints about the food just the service. would encourage Nando's to re-evaluate their model as this arrangement doesn't seem to work well when technology fails. Also, the staff, who admittedly were all pretty young, do not really know proper customer service, and I got the impression that they were talking about us like we were idiots for not figuring out their cumbersome digital ordering process instead of trying to truly understand our issue. All would be fine if they didn't expect a tip more like a fast food place, but when you are trying to be a little more upscale than a fast-food burger join then the customer service should reflect that. Regardless, I like Nando's chicken so I will be back but I hope they can improve the experience. read more
