    Rice and Beans Plantains

I've only tried jerk chicken once I believe during a family trip a long time ago to Jamaica where I fell in love with jerk chicken and it until now, I was never able to find a good jerk chicken spot in Northern VA. But I wanted to mention this as I don't really have anything to compare to. But when it comes down to "is the food good?" I can definitely say yes. It didn't last very long. I pretty much inhaled it. The rice and beans, plantains and cabbage are all well seasoned and great. But boy, that jerk chicken was heaven. Pretty spicy, but not to the point that it's overwhelming. If your spice tolerance is low, definitely have a drink nearby. There's a sauce that comes with it that's even spicier that I used sparingly but also, very good. But the spice overall is almost like Takis. It's spicy but a good spicy that you can't help it and you keep stuffing your face with more. Definitely give this a try. I ordered mine through grub hub as the parking situation there is pretty tough. But if you can find a parking spot or live within walking distance, definitely give this place a shot. 5/5 for me.

El Pollo Rico was my first Peruvian chicken spot. Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

We ordered a half chicken with yuca and beans as the sides. It was very quick, we got our food within seconds it felt like. The chicken was probably the most flavorful kind of Pollo a la Brasa that I have had. It wasn't too greasy either. Just very tasty. The beans were delicious!! I didn't think I would like them as much. The yuca was pretty good too. Nice and crispy. I do wish they had slightly more options for sides, maybe even an Arroz Chaufa. This is a no frills kinda place so don't expect anything too fancy. But it is clean! And that's what makes it more authentic and fun in my opinion! Will definitely go back if I'm in the area.

I'm not sure if the gentleman who greeted us was the manager or the owner, but he immediately made eye contact, welcomed us with a smile, and seated us right away. That first impression set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Eduardo, was outstanding professional, personable, and attentive throughout the evening. He took the time to explain the menu and offered excellent recommendations, which made it easy to try a variety of dishes. The ambiance was warm and comfortable, with music playing softly in the background, making it easy to relax and enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. We ordered several appetizers and tapas, followed by dessert, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The quality, presentation, and flavors exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We truly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

What stood out, too, was the food. Really tasty small plates to complement a happy hour! We ordered three: charcuterie board, garlicky shrimp, and stuffed piquillo peppers, all of which were terrific. (Normally I want larger shrimp, but these were cooked perfectly, so no notes!) Atmosphere was joyful and light. Liked the good vibes and friendly staff. Would return.
