I love nando's and wish they are available in NorCal where I'm from. I knew about Nando's when I first tried it in Australia. I looked it up and I believe the chain started in South Africa. I love the way chicken is grilled and how they kept the dark meat, fat, and skin which is exactly how foodies want their chickens. I also love the sauce and even for the extra hot it's really not that spicy but very flavorful. However I do recommend first timers to try medium or hot not extra hot. The chicken is extremely tender just like how El Pollo Loco grills the chicken except it's even more grilled so some parts are charred which is just perfect. Africans know their chickens and I concur wholeheartedly. In Australia the restaurant is mostly fast food style but here it's slightly a cross between fast food and sit down. The decors are simple with some African influence but very welcoming. Personally I'd prefer this is more fast food like because sit-down always seems to give too serious a vibe for a quick meal but it's just a personal preference so doesn't matter. My favorite is the 2 legs which include the thighs and also the wings. If they open up in NorCal I'll eat it every week as this is literally the second meal in two different nando's I've had within 3 days. Oh this is right next to McDonald's so it's perfect for those with kids to order McDonald's for kids and order Nando's for themselves.

Let's start with service 10/10 amazing staff! I walked in cold and tired for the first ever time and the staff were not only helpful they were nice! The staff checked on me multiple times too despite ordering at the counter. The vibes are top notch, not too warm not too cold nice music a true escape from the city bustle I can't believe it wasn't packed. The food was absolutely top notch! I have never liked coleslaw but forgot to ask for no slaw so I ate it anyway and OMG I might become a coleslaw fan. Will 100% be coming back here whatever they are being paid it ain't enough

Friendly & quick service, great ambience, and YUM. Woohoo!: I used to go to Nando's in DC almost once a month at least. but then they cut the chocolate spoon cake from the menu. Then they cut the bottomless self-soft serve sorbet machine. But when they cut the chicken livers, that was the last straw. If I went at all it was because my choices were very limited. But today, I discovered that they brought back the chicken livers!!!!!!!!!! I now again have a big reason to return more than once a year or 3. If they brought back the sorbet machine you'd see me back super regularly. also, the manager told me they are 86ing the Borges Lelo Portugal (red) wine. NOOOOOO! this is one of my favorite wines of all time.Period. And it is not easy to find in wine stores. Please keep!

Back again and brought my family so we shared some chicken and sides. The chicken here is still 10/10! And bone in is definitely the way to go - the skewers were good but the chicken thighs were AMAZING. My family loved the sweet potatoes too but we all thought the mac and cheese was on the saltier/watery side.

Standard Nando's. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich but after placing my order was informed that they were out, and was offered a switch to the chicken thigh sandwich. I enjoyed my sandwich and fries. Nothing to write home about but the lunch deals at least let you have your money's worth. I feel that the regular prices are a bit too high for the amount of food you get. The layout of the restaurant is a bit weird - the FOH staff sort of stand with their backs to you because the kitchen counter is directly opposite the door and there is no table for them to use. Can be awkward getting so close to them when getting drinks or sauce.

Naaaaandooos!! I always love going to nandos whenever I am in the DMV area. I like to think that even though nandos is considered "fast"/convenience food, it is still quite healthy and everything tasted good compared to many other fast food restaurants. This nandos location has some outdoor seating which is nice and the interior is quite big. Prompt service on a weekend day as well.

If you're into chicken of all kinds, head to Nando's. Located just off the Rosslyn Metro, it's a spacious location that serves quick food. Customer service is usually friendly and efficient. My go-to order is the garlic chicken breast sandwich with fries and their flavored mayo. Many sauces are available for free off to the side.

This is the first time I've ever written a review. What a waste of money. I thought a place specializing in chicken would make some good chicken, but I was mistaken. My "chicken" bowl came with a tiny, dry, and bland piece of chicken breast. As you can see in the picture, it is tiny compared to my hand (I'm not a big guy at 5 foot 5). They gave a decent portion of rice and greens, but my rice will filled with hard and undercooked pieces. I will not be back again. Sad first and only experience with nandos.

I fell in love with the spicy deliciousness of Nando's on our recent trip to London. Imagine my delight when I found out that there was a location across from Rosslyn station mere blocks from my appointment. If you go, know that the Yelp address is misleading - it's on the back of the building directly across from Nestle/the station. It's not actually facing Lynn Street. I opted for a 1/4 chicken (white meat) with Portuguese rice and macho peas. Honestly - it was great. My chicken was juicy and spicy and even better when doused with even more Nando's hot sauce. The rice had a nice kick as well. Staff is nice but spends as much time playing/chatting as working. That said, it was clean inside and my food arrived quickly. I love you, Nando's

The awning outside needs refurbishment and inside furniture is not updated. It's dark inside, almost like a night club. Perhaps it is sometimes. I did not like the decor, it was a little run down and honestly did not match up to the prices. The service was also disappointing. I felt that staff lacked a bit of professionalism and they rarely checked on us. The plates are huge. That is a plus. My partner ordered the goat and I tried the red snapper. I think one plate is big enough to share. I like the spinach, but everything needed a bit of salt. While the red snapper was coated in a lovely tomato and red pepper gravy, I felt it made the crispyness of the fried fish disappear and it was kind of soggy. Maybe you can ask for the gravy on the side. The food is not bad, but given the physical establishment and the service I wouldn't return.

Unfortunately, this location didn't hold up. The ordering process was a mess from the start. They were out of boneless chicken, so we pivoted to a half chicken... only to be told they were out of that too. Then it turned out they did have it. We ordered the hummus appetizer and got the side portion instead, which meant another trip to the counter to sort it out. We ordered medium peri peri sauce and got something noticeably spicier. Too tired and hungry to send it back, we just ate it... and the meal just didn't hit the way Nando's usually does. The mushy peas we'd been looking forward to aren't even on the menu anymore, which was its own small disappointment. On the bright side, I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine and got what looked like a double pour. Not complaining... but it does sum up the vibe. The staff seemed indifferent, whether it was end-of-night fatigue or just an off-night, hard to say. We'll probably give Nando's another shot elsewhere, but this DC visit was disappointing enough that I can't really recommend this location.

The chicken came out with blackened edges because of their preparation method. I don't prefer that taste, but others may. I did not find the sauce to be particularly spicy so I added the 'extra hot' sauce on the side, which helped to add more flavor. Surprisingly, the chicken breast was very moist, along with the thigh. The ambience is casual and relaxed. There are plenty circular or modular seats along with smaller tables along the back end of the restaurant. My biggest complaint was their restrooms. They have gender neutral restrooms; two stalls total. Both restrooms were in great need of cleaning with a LOT of bodily fluids all along the toilets and floors. Also, there was no option for hand towels, only an air blower to dry your hands, which is one of the most disgusting ways to dry freshly washed hands. I recommend either creating one male and one female stall instead of unisex because men and women have very different habits in the restroom. The service was impeccable- the waitress and sommelier were both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Nadia, our waitress, offered suggestions about what dishes would pair well together for the tawle experience and shared her favorites. The sommelier went over the extensive wine list and helped us pick a nice red that paired well with our chosen dishes- it was called Yacoubian Hobbs from Armenia. The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming- you could dress up or down, pretty much anything goes! The walls are lined with colorful patterns and draped tapestries to create a high end living room vibe. Now for the fun part- THE FOOD! The first dishes brought out were the mouneh (pickled veggies), the honey soaked dates, and the three spreads (we selected the hummus with lamb on top for an additional $15, havuc, and beet borani). I'll add that they continuously bring out fresh, warm pita throughout the whole meal. The lamb hummus was savory and well-balanced, but very rich. The havuc had a beautiful lightness from the carrots and I loved the textural element of the crispy onions on top. The beet borani also added a welcomed freshness throughout the meal and was vibrant, light, and had wonderful yogurt flavors. The underrated dish were the pickled veggies because INSANE. I used these in bites during the entire meal and they all had a unique flavor as if they were each pickled in a special way- my favorites were the white radish and scallions. The honey dates were a sweet palette cleanser and cut through the savory elements of the meal. We continued on with the next round consisting of the field lettuce salad, the three condiments (we chose the toum, chermoula, and harissa), halloumi, omani shrimp, and chickpeas. The field lettuce salad had a zesty vinaigrette and I appreciated the acidity addition of the sliced oranges and the crunchy, salted pistachios. The toum was a garlicky aioli that I felt was best paired with the chickpeas- although all the dips were delicious with all the dishes and the pita. The harissa was a lighter version than I am used to, spicy, and paired well with the veggies and ribeye. The chermoula was my favorite and paired best with the ribeye- it reminded me of a flavorful and herbaceous chimichurri. The halloumi had a sweet honey and was grilled perfectly, paired with nice crunchy nuts. The chickpeas had a lovely consistency and were well seasoned- I think it was sumac, but whatever it was, I couldn't get enough. The shrimp were ONE OF MY FAVORITE dishes from the whole meal. They were juicy, seasoned perfectly, charred, and just chefs kiss. I enjoyed them with the chermoula and squeeze of lime. The main dishes and veggies came during our final (besides dessert) round. We ordered the sayadieh as part of the table experience and also added a ribeye to the order. We had ordered the charred carrots, but they accidentally brought us the wildflower honey zucchini instead, so we were lucky enough to be able to try both. The branzino (sayadieh) absolutely blew my mind. It was citrusy, spicy, seasoned with bright spices, and incredibly moist. I would honestly skip the ribeye- it was cooked to a nice medium rare and had a nice flavor, but I don't think it compared to the rest of the meal. The charred carrots were spicy, cooked soft- also one of the standouts. The zucchini was served beautifully and I enjoyed the sauce, but could also skip next time. We ended the meal with the bitter orange sorbet and the chocolate mousse. The sorbet was a nice palette cleanser as it had zest in the mix and was very light after the heavy meal. The chocolate mousse was very rich and had a new balance of chocolate and peanut flavors. They brought over complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate my birthday as well :) I cannot wait to come back to try more of the menu and I am so happy to have had a diverse taste of the Middle East. I'll also add that we had a HUGE bag of leftovers that lasted several meals and they packaged it up like true professionals. A food lover completely satisfied and eager to get back :)

This, together with the dark vibe, made me feel as if I were eating with ppl. from B.C. in a cave. Very interesting. I like that. For food, I got the Carrot Havuc, Omani Shrimp and Halloumi. But first I was served with some freshly made whole wheat pita. They were soft, chewy and earthy. The Carrot Havuc was basically a carrot+garlic puree. Very silky, refreshingly sweet, and a bit sour. The sourness may come from the garlic and lemon. Paired well with the pita and meats. The Omani shrimp came with 5 pieces, each shrimp was ~1oz so it was not very filling. The shrimp were meaty, fresh, juicy, though I wish it could be less salty, even if I already asked for less salt. The shrimp was said to be marinated with dried lime and tamarind but I could only taste the flavor of dried lime. The Halloumi cheese was brushed wild flower honey and topped with Egyptian dukkah, then baked until the outside was golden brown. It was salty and sweet, and the (tons of) sesame seeds added some fragrance to it. However, the peanut was too roughly chopped so that they fell off from the cheese when I slice it, and thus difficult to eat with the cheese. Service was not worth the 20% mandatory tip. For example, when I asked about the sourness of the Carrot Havuc, he did not know why and said he would "taste it and let me know where the sourness came from". Unfortunately, he did not tell me until I asked again when doing the check (I doubt if he tasted it in the first place). Neither did he ask me about the other dishes. Overall, the dishes were great but not impressive, and was mostly heavily flavored. The service could be improved.

This was my second visit to this restaurant. My companion and i ordered from the happy hour menu…read morewhich is on the back of the full menu. It is a $24.95 flat price offering an appetizer, entree and dessert for that price. (Only available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 5-6:30 pm). There were about 6 choices each for appetizers and entrees and 3 for dessert. My companion had a mussel appetizer and I had French Onion soup. My soup was a great example of the classic preparation. Bubbly and browned cheese over a deeply flavorful broth of onions and a slice of French bread. My companion loved the mussels. As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac. My companion had Rainbow Trout and was very happy with it. For dessert we both had cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A good example of a New York style cheesecake. Both entrees were served with well cooked mixed vegetables. The portions were not a scaled down size but normal size. The meal comes with fresh baked toasted bread served warm. Delicious. The service was attentive which was to be expected because there were only 3 tables occupied. A complimentary shot of a what I think was kahlua was served at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is lots of dark wood and a classic bar. Great food and a great experience. Don't pass up this great value!!

I cannot believe that I have lived within walking distance to this restaurant for the past three…read moreyears and never have visited. Hey, better late than never. Because of an unexpected change of plans, we decided to have a weekend dinner here, and it turned out to be a great decision - based on the food and service. What really worked for us was that the restaurant has a few outdoor tables, and the outdoor seating is dog-friendly. First, the restaurant has a pretty extensive menu with diverse options. I will admit that I was a bit overwhelmed when the waitress mentioned all of the specials for the evening. It seemed as the list kept going, going and going. Also, the restaurant has a dinner special for about 35 bucks that includes either a 3 course meal or a 2 course meal + a glass of wine. For my dining pleasure, I went with the baked (or maybe it was broiled) flounder that was served with potatoes and green beans. Overall, I thought my meal was absolutely delicious. I do wish the portions were slightly larger. Overall, I thought the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was very friendly and constantly checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. Although we visited around 5:30 pm on a Saturday, I was a bit surpised with how crowed the restaurant became around 6:30 pm. If you are planning to visit around this time, I highly recommend making reservations even though this section of Wheaton can be relatively quiet. Also, the restaurant seems to be very popular with the eldery community. During our visit, I'd say the average age of diners was somewhere in the 60s.
