So not only was I giving Nando's 5 stars and more than willing to pay for my meals there, but customer service reached out to me to fix what I thought to be a very tiny problem. OH. MY. WORD. That is how chicken is supposed to be. My chicken breast was perfect. Thigh was perfect. The chicken just melted in my mouth and I had to fan myself off in the restaurant, I was so deliriously pleased with the food. FOODGASM TO THE MAX. Thank you so much, Nando's. You have set a new bar for how chicken should be for me. Of course, everything was seasoned beautifully. I found that the chicken tastes quite good with their creamy salad dressing. (AKA I got a bit overzealous with that dressing bottle and got more on my chicken than I intended.) Service was also fantastic, because we were having a hard time choosing our sides to go with our chicken. Nando's is definitely one of my favorite places to go now. This place was REALLY YUMMY! First of all, I must say that when I told my friend that I was going here, she recommended the mashed potatoes before she said anything about the chicken.... And when I tasted them I totally understood why! They were OFF THE CHAIN! That will probably be one of my permanent side orders every time I return to this place! The chicken was seasoned well & juicy (even the white meat) by itself, but they actually have these different sauces that you can add on it that give it even more of a kick. Now.... for my vegetarian friends - My husband had the veggie burger and (even though my food was great), I actually wished I could return my food and get a veggie burger. It was THAT GOOD! Next time, I'll have to get the veggie burger and maybe I'll have to alternate from then on out. Too many great choices here. My dad's a picky eater so when he says he loves a place and wants to go back, that says a whole lot :) My almost 4-yr old nephew is also a picky eater and there are probably few restaurants where he actually eats THEIR food and not his chicken nuggets - so that says a whole lot too :) Nando's is famous for their Portuguese flame-grilled peri-peri chicken. They have different flavors, different spice levels, and several sides to choose from - and prices are reasonable too which makes it a great choice for families. The kid's meals incl. chicken, apple, milk, AYCE yogurt (no surprise kids love this), and coloring to help keep them occupied. Keep in mind the chicken might taste slightly spicy for some kids but the milk helps minimize that. The space is very nice yet also casual - you order up front and then the servers bring your food. All the servers were very nice. 1/4 CHICKEN (breast & wing) - $5.45 (no sides), $7.45 (1 side), $9.35 (2 sides) This is actually a decent size meal. Got the "mango & lime" chicken, loved it, and I'd probably get it again. Other flavor options - lemon & herb, medium, and hot. SIDES The portion size for 1 side is plenty - if we had to do it again, we'd order just 1 side per entree and then share sides. I liked the Portuguese Rice, Cole Slaw (complemented the very flavorful chicken well), and Red Skin Potatoes. I liked my sit in experience so much I decided to come by for takeout last night. We arrived around 645 and there was a line all the way out the door. We told the waitress we were going to do carryout and went straight to the order line. It was about 30 minutes to get our food. I am not sure if it was because they were so busy or because the two take out orders ahead of us just took a long time. The take out boxes are pretty impossible to eat out of if you're trying to cut the chicken. We sort of made a mess out of the whole thing. The sauces were good but our chickens were a little overdone and more towards the burnt side. My overall experience was just okay this time. Don't try to come here around 7 on a Saturday, the wait seemed to be at least 45 minutes minimum. Everyone and their mom was seriously up in this place (it was poppin' off). Oh and they have half priced pitchers of margarita and 3.99 beers from 4-6 Mon through Friday . I don't know why I've never bothered to write a review for this place. I guess I assume people will know how good their mash potatoes are by word of mouth. SERIOUSLY! Hands down the best mash potatoes you can get are at Nando's. I use to not enjoy skin in my mash potatoes but Nando's has converted me. You have to try it for yourself. Oh, and their chicken is good too. I'm a wimp with spice so I always get plainish. Sue me. Also, I just love the overall vibe because hearing Latin music while I'm munching on chicken and potatoes puts me in a good mood. I've been to different locations and the quality has been consistent thus far. When I'm with 3-4 people we just get a full platter and are left satisfied. The way you order is pretty easy. You get a table, the waiter/waitress will hand you a stick with a number. Keep the stick at the table, but know your number. With your number in mind, you go up and line up to give your order and pay at the counter. Tell them your number. They will bring the food to your table. The dining style is strange. If you dine in, you are seated by the host, assigned a table number, and then proceed to order at the counter, and your food is delivered by a food runner. There is essentially no server. Why not just allow diners to grab a number from a bin and pick their own seats, or like lots other restaurants just be assigned s number by the order taker? Puzzling. Despite that, the restaurant has a lot of dining options, including sandwiches, salads, and entrees. There are some lemonade And specialty drinks near the counter and the standard soda fountain machine. They also have a frozen yoghurt machine with just one flavor: Tahitian vanilla. Now, to the food: The chicken breast is fresh, juicy, savory, and well seasoned, and generously covered with your choice of sauce (from mild to extra hot). The mashed potatoes have a great consistency, were warm, perfectly cooked, buttery, and a decent portion. I really enjoyed my dinner at Nando's. This is my second time going to a Nando's and I've enjoyed it both times. The chicken was moist and well seasoned. I had to marinated in the medium sauce which was pretty medium for me since I don't like spicy foods like that. I also tried the Garlic sauce which had a little more kick to it than the kitchen but was so good. Definitely a good pair. I didn't really enjoy the coleslaw. Originally I wanted corn but they were out of season. I feel as though they should have a sign up whenever they are out of corn so people can know not to order that. The coleslaw could've used more salt and pepper, just the basics. Overall I enjoyed my dinner and will visit again during my next work trip. Thankfully, Nando's has peri-peri wings that have been marinated for a day and cooked to order over a grill. Everything tastes better when you grill it. I'll take a dozen with lemon herb sauce please. They remind me a little of lemon pepper wings. Each wing was mouthwatering, moist, and full of flavor thanks to the seasonings and the sauce. For my sides, I had the peri-peri chips aka fries, my weakness, with a side of perinaise sauce for dipping and a slice of garlic bread. The fries were lightly sprinkled with the peri-peri seasoning, just like I like, and I dipped each and every one in the perinaise. Who knew a mayonnaise based dip would taste so good on fries? Who needs ketchup? Not this girl. Now, let's talk about this garlic bread. It's a baked Portuguese roll smothered in a garlic-herb spread. Just when I thought garlic bread couldn't get any better, they done grilled it. Who grills bread? I guess Nando's does. At first glance, it reminds me a little of the Texas toast but this tastes better. It's slightly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the garlic herb spread tastes is so fresh. About 2 months ago i placed an order and it seems that they messed up my whole order which was very frustrating to get home and release they gave you incomplete order(half of my order was missimg) I was not going to come back here ever again but I was contacted by their management (McKenzie) who very nice, very professional and understanding, (McKenzie) made sure I was ok and worked to make sure I was happy and coming back. I just really love Nando's Peri Peri. This location is in downtown Silver Spring and it's a little roomier than the Chinatown location. Menu is the same- I nearly always get the flame grilled boneless chicken breast with a side of garlic bread, and then make a combination sauce made of garlic, medium and classic salad dressing (weird but oh so good). Nando's is a tad on the pricy side but I think it's worth it, especially if you throw in the red sangria. Still hands down my favorite sangria so far. Not as big of a fan of the watermelon sangria though- it tastes a little too artificial to me. Highly recommend it. Just thinking of it... maybe I'll go tonight haha. read more

Love Nando's for a delicious fast-casual option. The downtown Silver Spring location is large with a lot of seating and is typically pretty quick. I've had mostly great experiences (aside from a few times when salads have been lackluster). My absolute favorites are the bowls and salads + the friends are so yummy (crispy, flavorful, hot!). Having been to the Nando's on 18th Street, I was very excited to see that there was coming in Silver Spring. Food here is very good! Wish I could say the same about the counter service. It was busy as expected for dinner time, but we were seated fairly quickly. No one was at the front so we did have to wait around a little, but no biggie. The first problem was when we went to order. The guy at the register took one look at my friend, and greeted her with "Nihao"...... um what? Was it because we, two asian girls, were wearing masks so we wouldn't risk getting sick at the concert? With the racism that arose because of coronavirus, this put us in a bad mood. We don't speak chinese, and i'm not even chinese. Next, we ordered a pitcher of their rosé sangria. After waiting about ten minutes for our food (typical for nandos), we waited another ten minutes for our sangria before we went to ask the front about it. As I was waiting to ask, I could see them prepare it by adding like a cup of wine with half a 2L bottle of sprite.. uhhh I paid all that money just to drink flavored sprite? So, helpful tip- get the regular sangria rather than the rose one. They're the same price. The chicken wrap i got was so messy that it fell apart and sauce just oozed out everywhere. I ended up just having to eat the insides with a fork. The only reason i'm keeping it at 2 stars instead of 1 is that the food itself tasted good and the other runners were kind. This was my first time trying out this chain. I ordered the chicken breast pita with a coleslaw side. I was really surprised that they didn't have some veggie sides other than coleslaw and corn on the cob. I was hoping for like roasted veggies to make a healthier side meal. The chicken pita was fresh veggies with cooked chickens. It felt very hard to eat and all the chicken was at the bottom, so it felt like eating bread and a salad then bread and chicken. The coleslaw was not good, took two bites and was done with it. My friend orders the chicken thigh skewers and that was tasty enough for me to maybe come back another time. My friend suggested we eat here last Saturday night and I am sure glad we went. I had a chicken thigh with their delicious mango sauce and corn on the cob. My friend got the chicken liver with a side of fries, which he said both were also very tasty. Next time I may do the half chicken or a second side if I'm really hungry, but for a decent sized and delicious meal it was quite affordable at under $10. They have a very extensive menu with a couple good options for vegetarians as well. In fact one of my friends is vegetarian and this is her favorite restaurant. One must note that while it looks like a sit-down restaurant when you walk in, you actually order over the counter and you take a number sign and they will bring the food out to you. Updating my original review - have been back several times and while it's not my favorite nandos, it's become a regular Saturday night family dinner spot. Wait staff is really friendly, not crowded, cheap parking nearby, menu has changed again and I'm happy. Not my favorite Nandos. This location is loud loud loud and the setup was a bit different than the others. For one thing, no water in the drink machine. It seems they have also changed their menu recently and I tried one of the new salads (kale and chicken I think) - won't make that mistake again! Just wanted to give a shout out for awesome experience I had the other day. For starters, my kids will only eat nandos!! Daddy has attempted to replicate it but has failed miserably- so first off- amazing food. Secondly, the other day I was in a jam and I really needed to get food for the kids. But the younger one was crying, the older one complaining and the middle one was - well being the middle one. I got the GM on the phone and he could tell I was struggling. The GM sensed my frustration over the phone and even though they dont normally do this- he ran my food out to me. Everything was bagged super well, the GM was wearing mask/etc. JUST for this very reason (and for the fact the food is delicious), I will be back. I am a huge fan of the Nando's brand. Their food is always good, consistent among locations and just very well prepared. I absolutely love their sides, wonderful vegetable dishes, especially if you are a vegetarian looking for something other than salad and French fries. Their chicken is good as well, grilled and really great flavors! I'm writing about this location specifically because of their great customer service. The last time I came in, I had ordered the brussel sprouts as one of my sides. They ended up not realizing they ran out until way after I had ordered. The manager was kind enough to refund me for the side, and provide me with a free side coupon for next time. It really wasn't a big deal to me, but he was really concerned and just wanted to make sure I was satisfied and pleased. And that, I really appreciated. While other locations are usually always consistent in food, they ARE NOT consistent in customer service. The main reason my friends and I wanted to come here was because we know how nice the ambience is at Nando's. With that being said, it's a very cozy place to go to, especially during the fall and winter months. We stopped here after going to the ice skating rink to warm up and get some good food and drinks. Upon arrival, the hostess seats you, and you then have to go up front to order and pay for your food. A server then brings your food out to your table. We shared a pitcher of Rosé Sangria, which was delicious! It's sweet, bubbly, and lite. For $17, I expected a bigger pitcher and little more alcohol, but it was enough to share a glass or two amongst five people. It had enough alcohol to give you a slight buzz. We also shared an order of the Peri-Peri wings, which are glazed to perfection and have a nice hint of lime; no dipping sauce needed. The fries (aka chips) were crispy and well seasoned. As far as I'm concerned, Nando's has the best tasting food in downtown Silver Spring, especially if you like chicken. The sauces are very tasty. The mashed potatoes are incredible. I like the fact that calories are posted for all the menu items, which makes it easier to make informed choices. I'm giving four stars for the food. It would have been five stars because usually the service is good, but not tonight. I ordered the chicken caesar salad and my son (an adult with disabilities) ordered a large chicken with some fries. I received my order before my son did, which has never happened before. We waited 5 minutes. I walked up to the counter and told the woman who was working there that my son had not received his order, and that usually we receive our food at the same time. I was polite and matter-of-fact. She responded in a professional way. She told the man who was in charge of the orders what happened, and reported back that my son's food would be ready in about 3 minutes. I said, "Okay," and went back to my seat. After that, things got weird. The man the hostess had talked to brought the food over, plunked it down in front of my son, and walked away frowning. When my son was finished with his meal, another man came over to our table. I looked up to see this young man staring down at my son with a scowl on his face. He did not say a word! My son understood that he was there to collect the plate, so he pushed it in his direction. The man then took the plate and walked away. It was very uncomfortable. I've had Nando's in the UK and here in the DC area. I've yet to find anything like this sort of chicken in a fast casual dining environment. The restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are polite and attentive, and the food is fresh and tasty. Today's order was to go. A half chicken in their "medium" sauce. I've tried the hot and they don't mess around. I also got the peas and a spicy rice. When I opened it back up at the hotel, the chicken was still hot. Quite meaty and very delicious, I cleaned it down to the bones. Yum. The peas were excellent with a rich flavor and spiciness. And the rice was the right al dente and yummy. And the price? Nooope...It was actually past their 10pm closing time at the point.) They apologized profusely and hopped on it, but it was still another 15 minutes until we finally got our food. In the meantime, we also saw them serve a table of seated guests with plates that had been sitting under the heat lamp for so long my dad thought they were samples for people to see on their way to the bathroom. The chef guys were well-intentioned, but, yeah.. Poor Mom had been sitting in the car the whole time. Luckily, her irritation dissipated when I'd told her I'd gotten a free side order out of it! Service was pleasant, food was boring. Would I return? Absolutely, but not as my first choice. As it was our first time trying this quickly growing chain, we took our time reading the menu and making our choices. We decided on chicken sandwiches, a veggie wrap, and a chicken breast. We all asked for a medium spice, and then spent some time trying the sauces. Turns out that even the hottest sauce isn't that spicy, so it was added to our meals at the table. We also snagged the lone pepper grinder and made good use of it once our meals arrived. (Of course we handed it to the next table when asked, but still don't understand why every table has no salt but we have to share the pepper. So confusing!) The chicken sandwiches were fine. Bland, but filling enough. The veggie wrap had too many soft ingredients. Using hummus as a binder is a great choice in a sandwich with some crunch and a few sharp flavors, but this recipe had neither, so it was simply one extra layer of bland. My chicken breast was nicely cooked. A bit of char on the skin, juicy meat, and a just-right portion size. I'd asked for minted macho peas as my side, and was happy to have a nice bright taste as a contrast to my chicken. I also truly enjoyed the garlic bread, though it was nothing special about it. Just good, comforting carbs. We spent $50 to feed four people, not bad in a nicely appointed fast casual restaurant. My biggest issue was flavor. The menu speaks of spice, but all I found was heat and vinegar, without other flavors. I'd hoped to like it, as I see that the chain is expanding. This location has outdoor seating and a parking garage nearby. My husband and I were invited to eat here because our friends that just moved to Silver Spring thought it was a local restaurant and they really liked their food. But they were bummed to find out that it's actually a chain that started in London. But hey, it's good so we were still happy to eat here and tell them what we know about the place. Best flame broiled chicken in the city Love this place and eat there in any event once every 10 days. It's about flame broiled chicken. Be that as it may, the side dishes are likewise great, including the Portuguese rice, cold slaw and pureed potatoes. I would keep away from the old fashioned corn and the french fries. The chicken is given a spritz of hot/sweet sauce. You tell the request taker how hot/spicey you lean toward. Nandos is exceptionally occupied by 12:30pm, so prior or later (around 1:15) is a superior time to limit the pause. Nando's has consistently good quality food and a fun atmosphere (although we usually get ours to go - and sometimes we're even so lazy that we order through Postmates). I'm not going to lie - it's pretty expensive for the portion size you get (especially the dark meat chicken). However, it really is reliably good food that is unique, so we find ourselves craving it pretty regularly. The chicken itself is really well-flavored. It's always perfectly cooked with nice flavor and a ton of great sauce options to add onto it if you're looking for more. Luckily you can choose your heat level so it's not too overwhelming (unless you want it to be!) The sides are also great. The mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy, and you do get a good portion size. The garlic bread, although not something I'd normally order, is wonderfully buttery yet still crispy. The rice is also pretty good, and my husband likes the coleslaw. I also really like some of the sides that cost extra, like the mixed green salad (actually really good, especially their house salad dressing) and the butternut squash and corn. I wasn't such a fan of the brussels sprouts, which seemed a little mushy in my opinion, but it is a pretty big portion. Honestly, I've never really branched out from my usual chicken order with 2 sides because I like it so much - I bet the sandwiches and salads are all really good too though. When we order through Postmates, we usually get the whole chicken family deal, which ends up being cheaper and you get some leftovers. I do like the atmosphere of the restaurant - even though you order at the counter and get your own silverware, drinks, etc, it has the feel of a sit-down restaurant with waiters. The design is nice and modern, you can order alcoholic drinks if you want, and the food is as good as in a sit-down restaurant. I love that you can choose whichever sauces you like, and they have the nice freestyle soda machine along with some other good non-alcoholic drink options too. Overall, I really like Nando's, and I'm happy it's in downtown Silver Spring. It's also really nice sitting outside on a nice day! read more

My first time to this Portuguese themed franchise. Went to a movie at the nearby Regal Cinema and stopped in for an after show theater. You get seated, review the menu and then go to the main counter to order and then someone brings your food. It's essentially rotisserie chicken with a nice slection of sides and differents types of sauce. The service is exceptional and everyone is friendly. It's not really authentic portuguese though. read more

It isn't often that I wait until I have been to a restaurant 3x before I review it, and that is how often we have been back. This is our favorite restaurant right now. I'll separate the visits. First visit - We sat with our friends at a large wooden table in the back that could have seated 8. They sit you with menus, but you order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. I ordered medium heat chicken breast with rice and garlic bread, and was surprised by everything. The chicken is tender and the sauces (available in bottles as well if you want more) accent it perfectly, even the rice and garlic bread were really well-seasoned. My wife had a chunky salad with olives and cheese that she orders every time now. Second visit - My wife ordered a hot heat half chicken with chunky salad and mashed potatoes, and I had the portabello and halloumi sandwich with cole slaw and a side of mango lime wings. Once again,all the food was basically comfort food; just how I would have wanted it to taste, but also with enough of a unique spin that it's almost ...exciting. The sandwich was a great mix of flavors, and the mango-lime marinade is killer! We sat outside on the street and the staff brought my mother-in-law a chocolate spoon cake on Mother's Day; a nice touch. Third visit - We started with pita and hummus, both fresh and yummy, and the perfect pita-to-hummus ratio. The big winner this time was the pea mash with chilies, mint, parsley - fresh and delicious. I had the mango lime marinade on a half chicken, and I think that is the best. Overall, 5 stars. I'll also give a shout out to the sauce and setting station in the middle with a hand-washing sink, napkins, sugar for iced tea, silverware, and all the sauces and salad dressing. This chains a welcome addition to SS. Yes its a chain, but its one of those trendy european chains where its cool looking enough you let it slide. The dmv was picked for this companies first excursion into the states! This place makes some really good and tender grilled chicken. I guess it's the marinade or something that makes the chicken so tender and moist. I'm a dark meat chicken guy but here I even dig the breast meat. This place also makes some awesome chicken liver, yea, chicken liver, how often does one find that on a menu outside of the boonies. I don't know why other reviewers keep referring to crisp n juicy, which is Peruvian rotisserie chicken and cooked and seasoned completely different from this Portuguese fire grilled chicken. By that measure popeyes or kfc should be thrown into the mix. You can like one style and not the other, it doesn't make one necessarily better then the other. The few knocks on this location chain; it's expensive! The service can be really good or really bad. Some of the people taking the orders can't understand you and visa versa! read more
