I am in awe of how good this food was that I recently ordered from the Big Greek Cafe. I'll start with the portion size. Very hearty. Lasted me two meals. I got the lamb chops which came with two sides. I got the salad and the Greek fries. So so yummy!! I also got a side of soup, so delicious. Some places make this type of soup too thick. The consistency here was just perfect. The salad was exactly what I needed for all of the carbs I was having. I got this delivered and it was still warm. Everything was obviously fresh. The tzatziki sauce was so flavorful, you could literally dip anything in there and it'll taste phenomenal. I don't usually rave about takeout this way, but I was thinking of my leftovers all day. I can't wait to order from here again soon! 10/10 experience. I highly recommend it and I can't wait to try other menu items soon! read more

Came here while visiting MD and based on Yelp reviews. The restaurant is located on a busy block so parking is very limited. When you walk in there are tables for people to dine in but I opted for take out. I waited no more than 10 minutes. I ordered the big Greek salad with chicken. It also came with two warm pieces of pita bread which I finished before I even got tothe car. It was so good. The salad itself was delicious! Their house dressing was great too! The portion size is not too little or too much. I was able to get two servings out of it. read more

Terrible food. This spot used to be called Souvlakibar and I liked it much better then. The new place called Big Greek Cafe is awful. I ordered the salmon and two sides and it all tasted so oily and buttery. No flavor otherwise. Even the bread was too salty. I threw most of it out. I won't be back. At least I know now! read more

I had a gyro meat craving. It got so strong I had to stop what I was doing and go over to the Big Greek Cafe before it closed. The gyro salad didn't disappoint. There was lots of meat and their great house dressing. The person next to you must already like you; the raw red onions are copious! Souvlaki skewers looked filling and seasoned that day. A friend was recommended the pasta with a "you'll like it". It was orzo in a rich red sauce. She liked it fine but it should have been better described. I also wish the kids menu was less than $9+ after tax. The ambiance was bright and clean. Some traditional music wafted in and out of the speakers. The service was fine but not amazing. Mind you, it's a walk up to order and then to get your food. The food took longer to make than I expected. It still came out delicious, though. read more

I cannot deal with this place any longer. I go in and order what I'd like and I pay, and my order is wrong. I ask for no pork. They give me pork. I ask for no sauce and to put it on the side, they ruin my meal because sauce is all over as if I didn't say anything. I used to like this place. I work nearby and have spent thousands in catering orders but NO MORE. If all I can do is pay and not get what I ordered, I will discontinue supporting this place. IT IS OVER! read more

After a long time, I am back to this restaurant. I must say the food is consistently good. It's a small restaurant in downtown Silver Spring serving big flavorful food. Prices are reasonable and portions are significantly large. Definitely give this locally owned restaurant a try. read more

Just here to say that from 2013 to 2019 this was my favorite place to have a work lunch. I'd have the gyro special and if money was really good I'd have the big Greek salad with grilled salmon and Greek fries. I've moved to a new state become a mom and still miss this place. Tonight I tried to recreate the Greek salmon salad and while it wasn't bad, I think I'm better off taking a trip and stopping by. Thank you all for the great food and memories. read more

We ordered dolmades for an appetizer which were very good. They came with a delicious and creamy tzatziki sauce which everyone ate up. Greek potatoes were a nice comfort food experience. They needed a little salt on top. My son loved his chicken greek bowl so much that he ordered a second one to go. My falafel wrap was outstanding. Stopped in Yesterday for lunch with my daughter . Excellent Service and fantastic food . I was unpleasantly accosted by a decently dressed clearly not homeless Latino man in his late 30's begging me for money while sitting there with my daughter. Clearly because I'm a white male well dressed he was hoping for an easy mark . He kept coming towards me in a threatening way until the young Latino worker barked at him to leave . I asked her what she said to him ? She declined to answer other than to say he is a continual problem causing the restaurant heart burn . The owners need to get off their ass and protect the clientele hopefully they have surveillance cameras and can report this shit to the cops and they can track him down or at least know where he resides . He isn't dirty and poor and appears to be a man that spends his days bullying folks for money . This is totally the responsibility of the restaurant owners to handle this . You have now been put on notice . Should anyone get hurt and you have knowingly done nothing about this man you are part of the problem not the solution and you will be culpable if one of your diners gets hurt . read more

If you're looking for the best Greek food to order you can stop reading now and just place your order. The Big Greek Cafe is stupidly good, I have no complaints on any aspect. My go to order is to get the Greek feast where you get skewers, a gyro, and Teo sides. I always go with the greek fries which are covered in feta and the side Greek salad. We also always get the dip trio - I've tried all of the dips and they're all incredibly good. My favorite is their spicy feta which is scary addicting. Their baklava cheesecake is out of this world as well, although we usually order enough food that we don't need the add on. Prices are super reasonable and a feast lasts for a couple of meals. read more

THE BEST GYRO'S IN THE AREA. They are really really good. I wish they gave you more than ONE cube of feta per gyro, and I wish they once remembered the extra tzatziki that we paid for in our delivery order... but alas their food is good enough to overlook these things on occasion. Time to update my review... I always order the same thing -- the lamb chops! And each time they get progressively worse. One time the chops were shriveled and flavorless. Another time the chops were gristly and made of mostly inedible fat. And one time (see the pictures) they were hard and burnt. I took a gamble and won! I had a Christmas party and wanted to bring food in this year to make it easier on me. I did a Yelp search on moussaka and this place came up as being good. I ordered the moussaka (for 30 ple), greek potatoes, and green beans. The food was AMAZING!!! They delivered the order in a timely manner, helped me put it in the oven (it was a huge pan of moussaka). All my friends asked where I got it, and that it was the best moussaka they had ever tried. Their cafe is up the street from me, so on a persoanl negative-side for me that means I will be visiting often, probably way too often. There goes the diet! This place was bookmarked in my Yelp app and it wasn't far from where I get my eyebrows done. I called in my order and after about 10 minutes I walked in and picked it up. I decided to try the gyro and the Greek fries. This is a hearty gyro. They don't skip on the meats or the toppings, and the toppings are really fresh. There was a big old hunk of feta cheese & a pepper at the top of my gyro. Well seasoned meat, fresh toppings, and soft warm bread equals a happy girl. I poured tzatziki sauce in between each bite. The fries were seasoned fries with some crumbled feta cheese and some other seasonings on top. It was tasty. I've had Greek fries once before at another place and these were different than what I remembered. I think the ones I had before maybe had like some type of oil or something on them, but these were good nonetheless. The next time I go back I'll have to try the spanakopita, another one of my favorites, and the chicken lemon soup if they have it. I have no complaints. MAN OH MAN!!! This restaurant is the best when it comes to quality service and food! I booked TBGC for my school's end of year luncheon/checkout, and this location was helpful with providing the best food options for my staff. Since we're at the end of the school year, funds for extracurricular activities are limited, and I was able to speak with the manager concerning the unit cost of menu items per employee served. The manager was so helpful in providing me options to serve staff--we had gyros, veggie lasagna (which was a staff favorite), salad, rice, and hummus. We had over 130 staff to feed, and we STILL had two trays of food left!! The food was fresh and sooooo good! Staff raved about the food selection, and my principal stated that the luncheon was the best luncheon she's been to or has seen organized in the three years of her administration.
