While I can't claim to be a Meade expert, I've enjoyed the beverage on several occasions at a meadery in Prescott, AZ. I found Nani Moon's offerings to be quite pleasant. Though drier than what I've experienced in the past, all were interesting and several were very enjoyable. I did not care for the one meade variety that is infused with chili pepper, but that is purely personal preference. Our hostess was very knowledgeable and friendly and made our visit very enjoyable. This place is awesome!! We were visiting from LA and were recommended to try this Meadery at a winery in Maui. This place definitely did not disappoint! What a neat experience getting to taste tropical mead in paradise! I loved the way you could hear the owner's passion as she explained how she got started and why she does what she does. As for the product - they were all very good - for $5 you get to taste and learn about all of them - the pineapple one was my favorite and it made it back to Colorado no problem! My wife and I stopped by the Nani Moon Meadery while out exploring the east side of Kaua'i. Nani Moon founder Stephanie greeted us warmly and answered all our questions about he company's products. We enjoyed a flight of meads along with a cheese & cracker pairing. Stephanie took her time explaining the differences in the different products and recommend different pairings for each. All Nani Moon meads are made from honey they source locally (I believe they cultivate their own bees for the honey) and other fresh ingredients they get from local growers. All their products are really good, but my wife and I especially liked the Cacao Moon and Deviant Beehavior. Their storefront is small and relaxed and can be difficult to find if you're not looking for it. Terri and I definitely recommend stopping by to pick up a bottle or two if you're in the Kapa'a area. read more

Don't waste your time! Place has 4 parking spaces in between several other businesses and 2 trash containers. Gal offering tasting has no clue what is happening. No tasting schedule, no hello or indicating of tasting program just stared at us when we entered. There was about 10 spaces at bar, 8 filled. Must have came in two cars. Place may be new but most surely will not get old. Owner may have been making Mead for over 15 years, but apparently has no idea on how to conduct business. We walked out. No service or discussion from owner?Try rum tasting instead. That company is professional, polite/cordial to customers and provides an understanding of how to conduct business. One star rating offered so as to provide a real review of what it is about. Couldn't give a zero star honest rating. read more

We hopped across the parking lot after our photo tour and did a quick flight tasting of Nani Moon's meads and found somegreat ones. The woman leading the tastings was pretty cool and down to earth - and exceptionally knowledgeable about her products. Currently, their entire entire flight of tastings are $7 which at first glance, for 6-7 meads appears fairly high, but the pours are generous. We really enjoyed the caoco moon mead and the new spicy mead that they have, (sorry, can't remember the name). We bought bottles of both. The caoco was about $25/bottle, but the spicy mead was $40. It had just been bottled the previous day, and it's official launch date will be sometime on June or July. The caoco was sweet and smooth, while the spicy mead was sweet and packed a huge punch that my husband loved. It would have been nice if at least one of our tastings was refunded towards the bottles we bought, which is fairly standard for most tasting rooms. The rest of their meads range from fruity to light Riesling types. Most of them, (with the exception of the cacao moon) were not as sweet as traditional meads. So, if you tire of overly sweet meads quickly, these might be a nice change of pace. We were very glad we decided to stop in here...we love experiencing local wineries and meaderies. We also like to support local businesses. Definitely stop in here...they do everything on site! They also do not use sulfites or other common chemicals, and I believe they use all organic, locally sourced ingredients. read more

Nani Moon was fantastic; good enough to visit two days in a row. Hooray for Stephanie, foe following her passion and being so excited and informative. I had the good fortune of stopping by on a bottling day and getting to enjoy the festive atmosphere. It was so nice that I came back the next day... Great meads! We stopped in here after our bike ride along the beach.. It's a quaint little place with a good selection of meads. We both had a flight and then each tried one of the seasonal flavors. It was great to stop in and learn the process the gal goes thru when making each mead. When we left we felt good about the tasting, and were impressed by how pure this mead is even compared to some back home in wa. We are bringing a couple bottles back to share with friends back home. read more

Mead is an unexpected but pleasurable surprise. Nina, the owner, is an amazing wealth of information. She was a wealth of information describing not just the mead but all the local ingredients which are all of them. I came in completely unsure of what it was but had a fantastic time sitting and drinking something truly interesting and being welcomed into a beautiful local business. This place is awesome. They were super friendly and the mead was delicious! We did a flight to taste all the meads and that is definitely the way to go! Some of the meads were drier with more of a island flair and others were more traditional. All very good. Stuck in traffic and saw a sign for mead. My husband and I love mead and stopped to check out the tasting room. Stephanie and hunter were absolutely wonderful! We each had a tasting flight and ended up buying a bottle of laka's nectar. It was excellent. We are so glad we stopped. Next time on the island we will be back to buy more! read more

Showed up this afternoon hoping to try some mead as this style of brewing is a favorite of mine. Got there at about 15:35 and the door was shut. Looked in and then seen the owner come to the door. Simple blunt response of "we're closed, we have a parade to get to". I get that people have lives to live and things to do, but when you have potential customers at your door it would be good to treat them with a bit more courtesy and friendliness. Sad as I really did want to try the mead, but do I want to give money to someone who acts like this? Oh and there was also another customer there like I was, and they too got the cold shoulder. read more

I purchased some wine and it was damaged in shipment and returned to Nani Moon by Fed Ex. Stephanie, the owner, stayed in communication with me through the process of resending the product. I have sampled a decent amount of mead in my time, and not one of the meads I have tried in the past even comes near the quality (and vast diversity) of any of Nani Moon's meads. The owner/manager truly takes pride in her craft. Each mead we sampled at Nani Moon's had its own unique flavour; some rich, some refreshing, some even spicy. Well-crafted mead combined with exceptional service made Nani Moon's a great place to stop. I am just sad that we waited until our last day and thus could not enjoy a bottle or two during our sojourn. Our local Albertan meaderies need to seriously step up their game. read more
