Maui Hazy IPA

Awesome location. Great selection. Prices are reasonable. Only hazy IPA I could find in the area

An actual photo.

I'm happy to be writing the first review of this little place. This is a pretty typical beer/wine/grocery kind of place, but they serve an island specialty: spam rolls. Imagine a piece of spam, about as long as a dollar bill, covered in rice and wrapped in seaweed. They also make a spicy spam roll. Given that this was an island delicacy on Kauai, I figured I had to try one. My vegetarian girlfriend certainly wasn't going to and no one else in my family seemed interested. I tried my spam roll on Kalihiwai beach with a 32 ounce of Tahitian beer and it was GREAT. While I was looking at their t-shirts on my second visit, they sold about 15 between the time I walked in and the time I paid for the shirt. Go here. Try a spam roll. Don't be a wuss. It was awesome.

grabbed a bomber while waiting for our lunch from Trucking Delicious! they recommended we grab drinks from Hanalei Liquor!

Good spot to grab drinks for the food trucks. This location has a good selection of beer & wine. Items are cold and easy to take "to go".

This spot is clutch. Stop in for a snack after you surf. They sell the best priced pipes and bongs too! Mahalo Judy and Marnie and the crew

Great location and great staff. Very small store but a great selection given the space. Cool T-shirts too..

I saw some locals grabbing the spicy spam masubi (seaweed spam rice wrap) and grabbed one myself after.

I feel secure saying there is no better view at any pizza place on earth than here. The entire restaurant stares at the Hanalei Bay. And if that's not enough the service is top shelf. Our drinks, salads and then pizzas were out to the table so quickly I had to look at my watch to figure out the timing. And with the perfect crisp on the pizza crust I can only assume they're running that pizza oven at 550 degrees plus. Bonus, my wife forgot her purse (She swears it wasn't the cocktail) and the owner drove in at 9 AM to meet us (it opens at 3) to check lost and found. It was there and we made our flight. Hit it up and I promise you will be happy you did.

Shirley Temples were a touch light on syrup, but large. The waiter seemingly disappeared for awhile. We were ready to order, but had to wait about 15 minutes until he appeared again at our table. We ordered garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, 2 Caesar salads, 1 Italian salad & BBQ chicken wings to start. Kids loved the garlic knots & mozzarella sticks. The Caesar salads were good w/ delicious dressing. Italian salad was filled with goodies & dressing was tasty. BBQ wings were very good w/ mango BBQ sauce, served w/ ranch dressing. Ordered 3 medium pizzas: cheese, Hawaiian & pesto-rrific. All 3 were well-liked. The pesto was unusual with chicken, bacon, pesto & ranch dressing. It was a good combination of flavors. We had to wait again to pay our check. Once again there was one waiter & several busboys. It is definitely a problem that one waiter covers a large restaurant. What can't be denied is that this is the nicest pizza restaurant possible with fantastic views. As well as upscale decorating. The history of the restaurant is that it was the Bali Hai, a fine dining experience. Then it closed for a number of years when there was a kitchen fire. Not sure why the investors didn't choose to bring back the Bali Hai or another upscale restaurant. While we enjoy Wikipizza, I'd rather have an upscale restaurant.

Welina Terrace was the perfect setting to celebrate my 65th birthday. From the moment we arrived,…read moreevery member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome. Our server, Derek, was outstanding--professional, attentive without hovering, and his recommendations were excellent throughout the evening. Managers Imelda and Martin both stopped by our table to ensure everything was meeting our expectations, a thoughtful touch that reflects the hospitality of the entire team. Even Ms. Kai, the evening's DJ, came over to ask whether the music volume was comfortable. I appreciated the gesture, and despite being the birthday "old man" at the table, the music struck just the right balance between lively and enjoyable. The food was equally memorable. The Crispy Rice with Local Spicy Ahi was a terrific way to begin the meal, followed by flavorful Chicken Karaage. We also enjoyed an outstanding selection of sushi, including the Hamachi Roll, Local Ahi Roll, Chili Salmon Roll, and the beautifully prepared Seared Wagyu Nigiri. Each dish was fresh, thoughtfully presented, and showcased the quality of the ingredients. To finish the evening, the Black Sesame Mochi Cake with Burnt Cream Gelato and Hawaiian Red Salt was a wonderful birthday dessert and the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. Welina Terrace combines excellent cuisine, gracious hospitality, and a vibrant atmosphere overlooking Hanalei Bay. It was one of the highlights of our stay at the 1 Hotel Princeville, and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Kauai.

Service: we did note on our reservation that we were celebrating 2 birthdays and our wedding anniversary which our server did acknowledge but I was surprised he did not bring out any type of complimentary dessert considering the celebration. This is typically something establishments will do especially if we spent close to $400 on our bill. I suppose this is not standard practice for Welina Terrace. Ambiance: The restaurant itself was lively, had nice decor and the views were spectacular which is what I think you are truly paying for with a dining experience here. They also had live music which was great. Overall, we were impressed with the location and food and they could have earned 5-stars if they were to throw in a complimentary dessert for the occasions we were celebrating but a 4-star review is still worth the visit if youre in Kaua'i.

We went back for our second dinner here this trip. We had decided in advance to skip the brioche…read morerolls & to try something new for meat dish. Started meal with honeycomb with cheese, apples & crackers., cucumber salad, broccoli with burrata & bruschetta. All were very good. Bruschetta was slightly spicier than last time - extra Calabrian chile, I guess. We had two orders of broccoli - one without almonds due to food allergy. Charred just right w/ sauce & burrata. Great combo of flavors. Had the lentils, Kauai shrimp, papas ajo ( potatoes), filet with horseradish scalloped potatoes next. They were all great as usual. The filet was so tender you could easily cut it with a regular knife. And the scalloped potatoes were creamy with a taste of horseradish which I had never had before. We agreed it was excellent. I'd like to try to recreate at home. For dessert, we ordered 2 lilikoi cheesecakes & 1 lemon crumble ice cream. The cheesecake is particularly light & creamy - the favorite for 3 of us. Lemon curd ice cream is refreshing with pistachios on top. All in all we agreed Bar Acuda is our favorite restaurant in Kauai & a favorite, period, no matter where dining. Prices are reflective of being in Kauai, but still worth it. The only problem with Bar Acuda is getting reservations. You have to log in a month in advance at the precise time - 3pm HST - to score a spot. I missed out on reserving a time for next week for my daughter's birthday. You have to log in with 5-10 minutes of deadline otherwise you sign up to be notified if a spot opens up. I've already marked my calendar for next year to get reservations. I will set an alarm on my phone for 6pm DST on the day & then hope for the best.
