Its an okay sushi restaurant but nothing special. I found about them passing by one time and decided to get some takeout from them. It was pretty good so later on I ordered delivery a few times from them but then after some time passed one day I called in and the guy said I have to make at least a $50 order because my address is far and I said I don't need that much today maybe next time and he said okay. I called back a few weeks later and the same guy answered the phone and said the same thing so I decided to order for $50 this time. They don't have that many options to choose from like no thai ice tea and no oysters but I still managed to get enough for the $50. I probably won't order again from them cause I shouldn't have to get for $50 just because my address is kinda far. The boy chose this spot due to the cheap rolls, $2.50 for regular rolls. It's right next to the train station and I didn't think much about it. But the fish is very fresh and the lunch special is an okay deal. They have a nice selection of special rolls and you have a fair selection of regular rolls to pick from for your lunch special. I do wish that the special rolls were part of the lunch special, at least it would give me more insentive to go back. read more

Naniwa is located right next to the N train and it always looks empty, so I've avoided it until recently. I ordered takeout a few weeks ago and it was nothing special, but for being so close to home, I was somewhat satisfied. Fast-forward a week later and I ordered from their takeout again and it was HORRIBLE. The sushi was not fresh, very very fishy, and stunk up the kitchen for a good 2 hours. This place suck, there customer service is very poor. The waitress are mean, rude and races. I don't really speak perfect English, however I am very understandable. The short hair waitress spoke to me in a rude and mean tone to ask for my order. However, she spoke very kindly to the white customer next to me. Don't all type of customer should get same respect. I wasn't rude to her, so she shouldn't be rude to me. Anyway I didn't want to make a sense, but I do want to make a Yelp review about this nasty place. Don't come here unless you can speak perfect English or else you would get bad customer service. Lastly about the food, it is alittle below average, the raw fish I order was not fresh. My go-to sushi spot!!!! Every time I have a craving for sushi or an awesome bento box, I have to come here. The prices are so inexpensive and the food is DELICIOUS. My favorite rolls are spicy crunchy salmon, ginza roll, and alaska roll. I also lovelovelove their salmon teriyaki-I got it in a bento box (that was packed with rice, veggies, california roll, shumai, and soup/salad. The salmon was beyond perfect!!! The sear was amazing and made it crispy but it was not dry or overcooked. The sauce was very tasty and light too. I come here every chance I get. The service is also great. read more

The mochi was great, sushi rolls and bento box same. Now the part that makes me upset about this place is I ordered a delivery, the guy came and gave me a different price than the lady on the phone. he added 2 dollars. so I went back to my purse and gave him an extra two dollars plus the two dollars tip I had already included. It was a 10 order. I figured maybe she made a mistake but I added it up and it just didn't add up. He probably does this to everyone so be careful. BTW there was no receipt for my purchase in the bag. About 1 year ago I had a problem where I tipped the guy cash and they ran my credit card for a different amount. What a value! The sushi is fresh, the gyoza is totally tasty and the hot noodle dishes are worth the stop by. A must try is the bagel roll, it is a fried roll with salmon and cream cheese, a great and to me unique to this place, find. Reccomended! read more

Ordering wasn't a problem. They messed up once when my sister order chicken teriyaki and instead of bringing the miso soup she asked, they brought the salad, but whatever everyone makes mistakes. The price of almost everything wasn't bad at all, it was the servers attitude that threw me off. One of them literally stood two feet away from us, watching. I understand they want to make sure everything was okay but when we had stacks of plates on our table, no one came to clear it up! We had to ask them! When my sister corrected them regarding the soup, the server came back and practically dropped it on the table and left. Fresh and generously portioned sushi. Despite being half priced, the rolls were NOT just all rice. In fact, the rice portion was small and the fish was huge. Thank you Naniwa!! The service was friendly, non hurried, yet still fast. The decor was pleasant and calming without being pretentious. The ambiance was welcoming and comfortable. I have to give this place credit. Having a place in south Brooklyn that actually serves good food is hard to come by and this place hits the mark. Pork pan fried dumplings are a favorite along with stir fried Udon. Sushi has always been fresh and perfectly made. As far as service goes I have never sat in to eat so I can't judge, which is why I am only giving 4 stars, but delivery wise they are usually pretty good and timely. What I like about Naniwa is that it does not pretend to be what it isn't; it's the neighborhood joint for quickly satisfying your sushi cravings with decently prepared rolls at a low price but it is not comparable to say, Sushi Yasuda. I've tried many many many sushi places all over the city and none of them are ever as good as Naniwa. I've been getting sushi from here for years and they have never disappointed, both take-out and eat-in. I personally have never gotten anything not fresh from them and I've ordered from here nearly a hundred times. I love their special rolls, the spicy dancing kani and the crazy dragon are awesome. Out of the regulars, I especially love spicy salmon, salmon skin and shrimp avocado with cream cheese. They also have a peanut roll which is pretty interesting. The appetizers are great as well, especially the kani salad and the ika kara age (calamari). I can't really speak for the other food specialties, as I only got their teriyaki chicken once before (it was good). All in all, this is out go to place to either get some yummy sushi to eat at home or to go eat sushi and have beers in a nice atmosphere. Naniwa is 10000 times better to me than Chikurin or Fugu. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a long time because of the convenience of the location, but the service is TERRIBLE. The waitress has messed up on my order multiple times and made it seem like it was my fault with no apology whatsoever. The first time, I ordered a glass of semisweet red wine. She brought a glass of white wine to our table and after I pointed it out that I had ordered red wine, she stated, "We have no more red wine." Now, what was the point of bring out a glass of white wine and hoping I'd take it when an obvious solution to that would be just to let me know they ran out? The second time they messed up, I ordered a salmon lover special for takeout and was given a salmon roll instead. I went back to the restaurant upon discovering this while halfway down the block. The manager was apologetic and willing to change my order. BUT... the waitress who had placed my order for me came up to me and said "I repeated your order no?" First off, WOW, THAT WAS RUDE! YOU DO NOT TREAT A CUSTOMER THIS WAY, NEVER. And secondly, she spoke TERRIBLE English. I don't understand why this restaurant is catering to English speaking customers, as their entire menu is in English when the waitresses only speak Chinese. Then, thinking I didn't know what she was saying, she said to the manager in Chinese, "Why can't we just put this salmon roll with her salmon lover?" To which the manager replied, "The salmon lover set comes with spicy salmon! Not regular salmon." For a waitress to not even know the restaurant's menu... WOW! Not to mention, she gave me the merchant copy of the receipt for which the manager scolded her for and charged us for a tip that we did not give. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. If you want to deal with someone messing up your order and blaming YOU for the wrong order because of their poor English skills, come. After this recent experience, I am never coming back again! I call to find out the status of my order & I am told that it's on it's way. An hour and 40 mins later I call to cancel my order because a 2 hour wait is ridiculous. naniwa is a pleasant experience, your typical sushi waitress who scoffs at the amount of sushi you can pack away, typical sushi chef who rolls loose soosh, and typical cheapo menu you can easily get trapped into. The rumble of the train nearby aids in digestion, and the padded panda butt pillows pamper your backside but have the tendency to cause SAS. I made a mistake and left review at another restaurant and just realised that I must leave review here for the experience on 01/06/2016. I ordered a seafood Udon tonight for more than $15 including tax, before tax it's $13.95， not cheap for a udon in Brooklyn, even I dont have this expensive udon in the city. So I have high expectation for the food. However, it comes with just two shrimp and two scallop, a little bit crabmeat which is almost little. This is ALL the seafood in this udon. Unbelievable and I will never come back here again. The taste and broth is no better than regular $7 udon with vegetables. Im writing this review for not only complaint but also allowing other customers know it before they come over. Save your money and you desever better food rather than this one! read more

Twice I ordered a salmon roll, and typically salmon is a nice coral color, but at this place apparently it is brown. I didn't eat it both times. Their miso soup also has a strange sour taste to it.
