I called the day before and made a reservation which was definitely needed as it was quite busy. The portions here are enormous, so based on past experience where they ordered 3 pastas for 4 people, we ordered more moderately. Our server was great and very accommodating. My friend is vegetarian so we asked what pastas they could make other than the vodka pasta and pasta alla Norma vegetarian, and he said basically everything could be made without meat which was a game changer. That night they had a fried calamari special so us non-vegetarians enjoyed that. It was SO good, seriously some of the best I have ever had. It was perfectly breaded and the sauce was so good. We also ordered the zucchini chips that were also incredible to share. They were so crispy and coated in parm, and had the same amazing red sauce. We decided to share the orecchiette with broccoli rabe, and got the sausage on the side. This was so delicious, we devoured it. Our server also brought us red pepper which really took it to a new level. The sausage was also delicious but the pasta was great without it too, like it wasn't missing the sausage but it was a great addition. Sharing 1 pasta was the right move as we were certainly full, but not overly full. Brooklyn roots is a great neighborhood spot, and you could tell there were a lot of regulars there. They also brought out fresh (free) bread that was soft and warm, that is from a local bakery. It's absolutely worth the trek to bay ridge!

The hostess had a noticeably negative attitude, which didn't make for a very welcoming first impression. I would say that the dishes are more on the savory side but besides that I loved how the flavors popped out for each of their signature dishes! My favorite was definitely the pad see ew because of how well the chicken was cooked and paired with the sauced flat noodles. It surprisingly had a lot of depth and didn't taste like some random coconut curry thrown together. Some Thai spots mostly focus on their noodle dishes and kind of slack on their curry options, but that definitely was not the case here. I also went with the vegetable version since I realized I had not eaten enough fiber that day, and my god was this thing packed with vegetables. Do not be fooled by the photo either, the bowl was surprisingly deep and the dish was probably 70 to 80 percent vegetables. By the end I was insanely full and honestly felt like I got two meals out of it, which was great. If you want something filling, healthier, packed with fiber, and still a really solid green curry, this is definitely a good go to spot and I highly recommend it.
