Incredible donuts? I think so, although I've been enjoying them for 40 years so nostalgia may play a part. Friendly staff, incredible donuts that sell out, so get there in the morning. Bread-wise - I go with Something Natural vs Bakeshop, so I can't attest. I didn't indulge in their other goodies, but a lineup of coffee cakes, scones, cupcakes and pies are available both fresh and a few in the freezer to be reheated at home. A Nantucket donut staple if you prefer the non cake variety. While I still love me the Downey Flake for their cake donuts, this spot has more variety. I love me their jelly donut so much made with the most lovely raspberry jam. Coffee is out of a self serve pot vs special espresso drinks and the likes, but Espresso Cafe to go is a few doors down. read more

Ordered a birthday cake for our twin daughters' birthday: lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting and lemon curd filling. It was amazing!! Moist cake, flavorful filling and frosting that had a hint of lemon and was not overly sweet. It was beautifully decorated as well. Someone in town recommended we go here when I asked for a good bakery suggestion. It's best to get here early (before 1pm on an off-season weekday) because items sell out and aren't replenished. We ordered a bakers dozen of chocolate chip cookies, a lemon-poppy seed cake, a glazed donut, a Boston creme donut and a half dozen "day old bag" of some chocolate/espresso type cookie that I can't recall the name. This bakery isn't for the budget conscious, our bill came to $51!! The chocolate chip cookies were absolutely delicious, but at ~$25 for a bakers dozen, it's pretty pricey. They weren't even big. The glazed donut tasted very fried/oily, I wasn't a fan. The Boston creme was better, but nothing exciting. The lemon poppy cake, around $20 as well, was good, a little on the sweet side, but overpriced. The "day old" cookies were an afterthought...quite literally the last item left after everything else was eaten. read more

We happened to walk by about a minute before they closed. Everyone working was so kind and welcoming and didn't make us feel rushed at all (even though we did rush so they could close!) The desserts were amazing - we got a mix of cupcakes, donuts, and other pastries. Highly recommend! read more

This is a great spot! All of the food is amazing.....from the doughnuts to the apple pie's and everything in between. The issue here is the price! I have gone to Nantucket for 10 days for the past 13 yrs. Each year, I make sure to visit the Bake Shop to start the day! Be sure to get there early as, especially on the weekends, a lot of the offerings are sold-out! Parking is great.....can be difficult to get to the location as a lot of commercial traffic (especially during the week) make their way along on Old South Road. Bike route rides right past the front door, which may be a good option, if you are coming from the Center. I only give 3 stars because I feel like the pricing is very high! I realize that ACK is an expensive place, but I feel like this is over the top! For me, it is a once a vacation stop to enjoy! read more

To me, Nantucket wouldn't be Nantucket without the Nantucket Bake Shop. Order the portuguese bread - it's fresher here than it is at the Stop & Shop and DELICIOUS. Nantucket is known for its portuguese bread, and I would argue this shop bakes the best. I dream about it. Also notable are the almond macaroons, the croissants, and the jelly filled donuts. For a good selection in the summertime, come before 10am. read more

I know this is a busy time of the year for businesses However, this IS your business and part of it is customer service. I unfortunately recommended these cookies to my boss to send to her business associates for the holidays. My initial conversation for this large order of 20 was very abrupt and I was told to send an email and they would get back to me. No I did not speak with a disgruntled employee I spoke with one of the owners, Magee. Upon my own follow up the order was placed. On Thursday I was told delivery would go out Mon or Tues the following week (5 days later really?) When the orders had not shown up by late Thurs I called to inquire when to expect them and was told they went out one of the previous three days....and they were unable to track my order without going thru a "lot of paperwork". Again, I did not speak with some lazy employee nope... I got the other owner Jay. When I told him that I did not think this was very professional and that I did not think his customer service was satisfactory he did not seem to care..as a matter of fact I got no response at all. After the silent pause Jay takes my information to "call me back" Something tells me I won't hear from him. This may seem insignificant to some but when you put your faith in a product and spend $1000 then try to get some cooperation/assistance and be treated insignificantly to me that is just not good business. My advise if you want efficiency..go with a larger company with better service read more

This is one of my favorite island spots! The smell alone it amazing!! ( at the old shop you could smell it walking up the st) they start baking everyday early in the am! While it can get super busy during the summer months it's well worth the deliciousness! Also, to comment to the below- I have received gifts from here two years during the holidays and everything was fresh and delicious. While I can understand your frustration- it is an island shop that works at its own beat - I would have considered it a lil bit of a gamble to choose them to send corporate gifts on a set time window. read more
