I was greeted by some helpful gentlemen and referred to Sherm. He helped me select the right cleaning solvent to get the coffee out of my car seats. As the other gentlemen claimed, Sherm is the expert, so I decided to ask some more car questions. Having a hefty scratch on the back of my car, I was wondering if I could take care of that myself. He helped me hand select the products needed, taught me how to do it, wrote it down and reviewed it with me. He looked up the style and make of my car to confirm we got the right paint, and made sure I understood how to do it. I also have a cracked fender/bumper(cluelessness example) and he helped me buy the products needed, and physically assisted me with putting the lug nuts on. As an older gentlemen he was on the ground helping me fix my issues. He made me confident that I could fix my scratches on my car, and he was incredibly professional and resourceful. I promised Sherm I would come back to show him the result when I repainted my scratches like he told me. When I came home, I told my fiancé about the encounter and he stated "they don't make them like that anymore". That's the truth, he took time out of his day to explain, assist, and physically look at the car issues I was facing. I was nervous walking into an auto repair store knowing nothing about cars or how to fix them, but genuinely walked out feeling motivated and confident to do it myself. I politely asked her if I'm able to take them off when need be, she got all super defensive about it and told me that I stripped them. Lol.....we exchanged words and then asked if I'm not able to get my lug nuts off will they take em off for me. Tricia and the mechanic Bill said once I leave the parking lot I'm on my own. Tricia is the worse manager I've ever seen in the history of an auto shop. Who calls their customer names? She called me a dumbass and so on, in exchange she got an ear full from me as well. Even the other customers said I wasn't in the wrong and AutoMax broke their engine by doing some work and not putting any oil in it. AutoMax is has the worse customer service ever...if anyone needs work done I recommend Vidal Auto Services across the street from them. I took my truck right across to Vidal's, they looked at the lug nuts and said they are pretty much stripped. They said if they were the ones who stripped the lug nuts while taking them off they would of replaced them or been honest with me about it.

He showed me what was causing the problem and gave me a quote. He didn't use any salesman tactics on me or pressure me into a decision. Based on my few minutes of Google research, I thought the quote was fairly reasonable. Within the hour, my car was back into its old self and not making farting noises. While I sat in their waiting room, I watched the front desk person interact with customers and I noticed they were friendly and did not use dirty sales tactics. From now on I'm checking here first for used car parts, before anywhere else. It's right next to the U-Pull-R parts off of HWY 65; the buildings are acually connected, but AAA pulls the parts for you and the prices are not much more and come with a warranty.

I had already tried another shop and they basically said they couldn't do much for me, but tried a couple of things that cost me $700 and made minor improvements at best. Drew at Tim's Custom Exhaust took the time to listen to my concerns, and find a solution that ended up being exactly what I wanted. They took my truck the morning I stopped by to have them look at it and put the new exhaust system in right away and I was able to pick up my truck at lunch time. I was able to present the issue of the rust and wanting to easily attach/detach the hitch receiver (it was bent or needed some bending) when MN-bike season hibernates for the winter months. They took a closer look and presented a solution (bending it, cleaning it, rhino line (instead of paint to withstand the winter months if deciding to leave it on during winter months). It looks so much better.

So I searched for participating dealerships and ended up at Luther Brookdale (mostly because I knew MT Noodles is nearby). I made the appointment and even modified it online with ease. When I pulled into the Service area, I was promptly greeted and handed over the keys to my deathtrap. Richie met me inside and quickly registered me and my car, and even discovered that I was overdue for another recall that they could add to my complimentary order. I was also lucky enough to score a free check engine light diagnostic promo, which I needed (and usually costs $100 there)! I was in and out of there easily, Richie kept me updated on the progress, and they offered a rental car but I opted for the free shuttle pickup the next morning. Donnie, the shuttle driver was so friendly and sweet and knew some great shortcuts too! I highly recommend this location for your recall needs, at least. Oh and the waiting room has free wifi, beverages, and even baked goods.

All for an oil change and to swap a battery. Why bother making appointments???? - vehicle came in for crash, car in shop for 2 weeks, they return the car with unbalanced tires. Gets fixed. Car still has issues, they refuse to have a different tech look at it. Would not recommend to a friend or family member.

The interaction with Lane felt more authentic. I appreciate that he was willing to give a range, and advise how price would vary based on if it was a this problem, verses a that problem. The next morning I dropped my car off. Without knowing when they'd get to it, I just took a Lyft to a restaurant in NE for breakfast and figured I'd walk to work from there. My car was ready by 10am and while I could have gone back for it, I decided to wait till later in the day, which they were fine with. The other place had a loaner car, a waiting area, and would have cost less (based on the diagnosed issue, front brake pad & rotor).
