Stopped in after work to ask some questions and get an estimate for my cars brake issues. It had been over a month, and I reached the point of feeling nervous while driving (I know... awful). Lane, at the front desk answered all of my inquiries without making me feel like a bother; especially given it was an hour before closing. Despite having a full load the following day, and due to limited hours later in the week, he advised that if I came first thing next morning, they would squeeze my car in. I had him add me to list for 7:30am (just in case) and advised that I was going to check out one more mechanic (nearby). Ultimately I went with Lowell's! The interaction with Lane felt more authentic. I appreciate that he was willing to give a range, and advise how price would vary based on if it was a this problem, verses a that problem. The next morning I dropped my car off. Without knowing when they'd get to it, I just took a Lyft to a restaurant in NE for breakfast and figured I'd walk to work from there. My car was ready by 10am and while I could have gone back for it, I decided to wait till later in the day, which they were fine with. The other place had a loaner car, a waiting area, and would have cost less (based on the diagnosed issue, front brake pad & rotor). As a young woman, I've never felt more comfortable taking my car somewhere to be repaired. It's difficult to find a place that not only respects it's clientele, but refuses to take advantage of them and over charge for unnecessary products and repairs. Lowell's is a perfect place to go if you need a variety of different things assessed or repaired. They reasonably charge for parts and labor. I wish I knew more about cars but I just don't have the knowledge, tools, or resources. They don't look down on you for not knowing something. They're there to inform you and are good at it too. I had a grinding sound that sounded like bad brake pads, a bad cv axel or wheel bearing. I figured I would get tagged for several hundred dollars. I dropped it off and they called me an hour later. They found a bent bracket underneath that was rubbing on my drive shaft. They billed me for half an hour of shop time. With tax it came to $66. I can't say enough good things about Lowelll. He's an honest man who tells you straight up what the issues are and what the cost will be. He's never steered me wrong. (I made the mistake of going elsewhere in the past for some work due to a recommendation from a family member which turned out to be a very costly mistake. I've been to Lowell's twice now, once for a new battery and then again for an oil change and new brake pads. Both times have been great experiences. They were able to get me in on the same day both times. Lane who I spoke to both times was super kind and professional. I always felt he was honest with me and never got the feeling he was trying to upsell me on something I didn't need. The second time was a longer job and they were kind enough to take me home after I dropped of the car and pick me up when it was ready so I didn't have to wait at the shop. In all of my years of having crappy cars, I've never once felt this confident that I'm always getting the hundred percent truth and the fairest possible price. He's taken care of my family's cars and motorcycles for many years, so I drive an hour to get my vehicle serviced by Lowell if I can. I have been taking my car to Lowells for a couple years now and I am extremely satisfied with the service he has provided. He is a trustworthy mechanic that will tell you what needs to be done and why, and if you are not too mechanically inclined he will show you what he is talking about. He has excellent people skills and is effective at interacting with people. If he so desired, he could probably be a maître d' at a 5 star restaurant. When you get an oil change , he also gives you recommendations on what you need to keep an eye on for possible repairs. The service goes as far as getting a loaner (if it's available) if you need to go do a few things in the meantime. If you like personalized service while supporting a small business instead of a corporation, then this is the place to take your car. Over time they develop a history on your car and they know it a lot better than a large dealership would. read more

I have been going here for all of my car service for years, and I can't believe it hasn't been reviewed on Yelp before. I am amazed that an auto repair shop like this can still exist. The owner of the shop (Lowell) actually approves and tests every job done on the vehicles (he's thorough) and he always communicates with me about work and money. I've met customers at this place who drive from all over the state just to have Lowell and his team work on their vehicle, and I would too, because I have yet to find a more honest and hardworking team such as this.
