I walked into the office at 2:04 for a 2:00 smog test appointment and the guy told me he'd already started a smog test because I wasn't there at 2:00. When I mentioned I didn't have any paperwork, he said, "How do you expect me to do the test without permission?" I called him an a**hole and left. I stopped at a gas station that had a sign for smog test, pulled in and asked if they could schedule a test. He said he could get to it in a few minutes and that no paperwork was necessary. Since my mechanic retired, I wasn't sure where to go for my Star certified smog check. Having read the reviews and how close it was to me, I stopped by Napa Smog, which had easy parking, and was nicely welcomed by a young fellow named Chris, who gave me an appt. for the next day. Within an hour I'd forgotten what time the appt. was for, so had to call and find out. I told him "Don't get old!", and he just laughed and said it's okay. Got there the next morning, sat outside on the bench because it was a beautiful day (there is a nice, clean waiting room inside) and 25 minutes later it was done! Chris was so friendly, easy to talk to, and very efficient. Oh, I also got a 15% discount, woo-hoo!! Very affordable for us seniors, for sure. Highly recommend this business. read more

Had an appointment at 2pm and was no more then 5 minutes late. They gave the appointment to a walk in and that was understandable. What I found frustrating was that they would not smog my car next - I'd have to wait for a no show or until 4pm. But was not told this until they he started smoging a person that came after me. So I wasted 30 minutes waiting, thinking I would be next. If they openly had a policy that if you are more then 5 minutes late late, you forfeit your appointment for the day that would be one thing, but that was never stated or advertised. The icing on the cake was the rude and dismissive behavior of the staff when asked why I wasn't next. I got my paperwork back and went to Quick Smog 5 minutes away the road. They were great, had a good flow of people coming and going and were finished in less the 15 minutes - faster then I was able to write this review. read more

After giving the gentleman the information on my vehicle he asked if I had a coupon and I that the website had two different amounts for cars. My wife had to drive up to Napa to get our son's car smogged. When she got to Napa Smog Test Only, they were "out to lunch." When someone finally came back, he refused to perform the smog test, saying he was too busy--even though there was only one other customer. Then she the car wouldn't start and he not only refused to help her get it started HE MADE HER PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY WHILE HE SAT THERE AND WATCHED. Totally serious. Very quick and easy. Dropped my car off and was told it'll take about 25 minutes. Received a phone call about 25-30 minutes later saying test is done and passed. Came in to pay and pick up and was told results were already sent electronically to DMV. About $55 (with coupon) and maybe 2-3 minutes total actually at shop and I was all done. read more

I had an appointment for 11:30. i stated that I was there for my 11:30 appointment when I gave the guy my paperwork for the appointment. After sitting and waiting for 45 minutes I finally asked why they had serviced two customers after I came in. The young fellow said " if you're going to be a pain, we won't do it at all.". I was dumbstruck. I have my own business and am very mindful of the difficulties of scheduling and dealing with the public. I asked for my paperwork and left. Then he gave me somene else's paperwork. Its walk-ins only, first come first serve so it could go either way. I went at a busy time in the late morning/early afternoon knowing I had to get it done that day. There was a few people ahead of me when I got there so I dropped off my car and walked downtown for coffee and lunch. It's the perfect location, located on main street just a few blocks from Starbucks. The receptionist was very sweet and personable which made up for the wait time. I liked that she took my phone number along with my paperwork to call me if I wasn't back by the time my car was finished. The wait time wasn't too bad even with three cars ahead of me and I was out of there in an hour and a half. I was able to go straight to the DMV and use the automated booth to get my tags printed right away. The only reason I didn't give full stars is the price. I've gotten my smog done for way less than $70 elsewhere (not in Napa). read more

When I arrived I was told it would take 45 minutes for my car to be ready- One hour later I returned and my car had not yet been started. When I asked, I was told it would be another 45 minutes. A woman, seated when I first arrived an hour ago, said she had been waiting 90 minutes and her car was only just put on the machine. Thanking the gentleman behind the desk, I asked for my keys and paperwork, saying I would go elsewhere. As I was leaving, the desk person yelled out at me, "You're a f***ing b***ch," and the other worker in the garage yelled, "What a c*nt." This was shocking and unacceptable. I just had my van smogged here and I wanted to recommend them! The manager, Gonzalo, was friendly and was able to help me as soon as I walked in. I only waited about 20 minutes and the smog test was done. I received a discount because of my savings card as well. What more could you want? Fast, friendly, and efficient. Called today to get a smog. Was told that the smog would take about 20-25 mins and that it is first come first serve. Also my boyfriends car (that was going to be smogged) has an exhaust leak so the gentleman that was on the phone with me said that it would fail the smog but if it did we would still have to pay for smog without certificate and also since it's an older car that the state has put together an amount to me fixed because some suing of an oil company. We did not end up going there or anywhere to a smog but we will be going there when we do get the exhaust leak there. I did see on some comments that they were rude and disrespected customers but I didn't feel that way I actually felt like they understood where I was coming from and didn't just want my money. Also a BIG PLUS is that I called and there was no answer and I didn't think that was a good sign but as soon as I hung up. I got a call right back from them. And they were able to tell me the price and also that that's the grand total and that we should get the parts fixed before getting a smog!! read more
