I've known Andrew for decades as a former Auto Parts supplier for his shop. Being retired now he still services our vehicles. I know their website touts IMPORT vehicles, but my hubby has a 99 Ford F350 Superduty Turbo and they service that too! In fact, today they changed the oil and checked everything completely a a very fair price. 15 quarts of Delo is no drop in the bucket! They also changed the oil in my 2009 Mustang also today. Again...affordable, reliable, and thorough service. So don't assume they are import only? They do it all! read more

Napa Autowerke does smog testing&certification, but mind you, they aren't Star certified. Be sure to read carefully what you get from the DMV in Sacramento. They will direct you to other local businesses. Andrew is friendly, tho David is more of the curmudgeonly type. David had been amiable over the phone- in person, kind of abrupt, and they had just opened. Their waiting area is kind of bleak. They have magazines&newspapers, that's it. But I'm guessing they're relieved that people will go to Las Palmas next door. read more

I had a corroded battery that I needed checked out. I called in and Andrew said he could assess it ASAP and would even do the battery check no charge. I did indeed need to replace the battery. Since he had the battery I needed in stock and the price was fair (I had checked online pricing for a battery already...changing a battery isn't that complicated...), I went ahead with Autowerke and was out of there in about 25 minutes. Udated 5/52014. Well,they fixed it and no CHARGE!!!,Thank You Fine Young geltmen! I paid $600 for brakes. Not even 24 hrs later,same problem. I did notice she I picked up my car,that the emergency brake was not fixed,as stated on my invoice. Also,the brake pedal felt the same,as if I'm alredy applying the brakes. Shoildnt they have done a complete inspection. A Google search tells meeotjer air in the line,postons need lube,or worse case scenario,master cylinder. I don't thinl they tested the brakes when they finished. Left car this morning dropped off keys on box. Let's see what kind of servoce I get!? Not happy at all. The fact Napa Autowerke has a 5 star rating does not surprise me in the least. I am arguably the least mechanically inclined person, so always concerned that I will get fleeced unknowingly. My car had been neglected for far too long, and needed a lot of work. Chose Napa Autowerke based on strong word of mouth recommendations, and they did not disappoint. Andrew was patient and upfront with all of his diagnosis, their work was very efficient, and their pricing was amazingly the most reasonable. The other day, I was driving and my car started spewing tons of white steam from under the hood and I was terrified! I took it in immediately to this shop, based on my roommate's high recommendation. I really need my car for work and was stressed, and expressed this to the employees. They put my mind at ease and not only assured me they'd check out my car that same day (even though they were visibly busy) but they also diagnosed and fixed the problem all that same day, and called me every step of the way to let me know my car's status. Dave, Andrew, and Dave are great people. I walk my dogs at lunchtime every day past their shop. After a few weeks Dave noticed and called me in to give the dogs treats. My big dog loves biscuits, but my little dogs don't have all their teeth anymore. So Dave opened the fridge to give the little ones a piece of cheese. And so began a tradition, every day the dogs pull me into the garage for their lunch time treat, where one of the three great men who work there happily oblige them. read more

Well, this place will will do anything they can to make a dime. Andrew is so arrogant, he will give you a quote for something you don't need. I was told I needed a new water pump. I decided to get a second opinion so I went to Imports Unlimited. Within ten minutes I was told all I needed was a new reservoir, not a water pump. The quote from Andrew was for $953 it cost me $220. Now who's riping people off I wonder? When I confronted Andrew, here are a couple of his excuses...We don't work on Jaguars! Our rent is $5000 and Imports Unlimited probably pays $800! I said to him you'd probably take out the old one without out checking it and replace it or you j ust say you did. He said "Probably". I think Dave should look for a new a new partner. I'm just saying get a second opinion, Andrew is not to be trusted. read more

I called the afternoon prior and asked if I could bring my car in for a smog test. They said sure, at 8:30 the next morning. I showed up a little early, they got my car right in and the test was quick and easy. Everyone loves these guys, they are pretty honest, (unless you want them to do something crooked...dad!) but they are no where near the best mechanics I've ever met. The word yahoo comes to mind. Once the guy Burnt himself and another time he suggested I research how to fix it myself cause he didn't know. Another time he couldnt smog my car. How can you not smog a car at a smog place? The last straw was when my wife brought our pos there to get the timing belt done. Luckily she called me so I could tell her $1300 hell no. I can't say enough great things about these guys. A few weeks ago the power antenna on my '03 Sequoia broke. I found an original equipment part through an on-line vendor that was half of the $82.00 that the dealership wanted for the same thing. I brought it to David at Autowerke and he charged me $20.00 to take 15 minutes to install it. I thought it was extremely reasonable considering that 2 other places wanted to charge me a full hour of labor to do the same job. One place wanted $75.00 and the other was going to be $90.00. All in all the whole thing cost me $61.00 to get the job done A few days ago I was struck down again by another bolt of bad luck. The gear shifter arm on the same vehicle broke...at a gas station in Sausalito no less....and I live in Napa.....shit, shit and double shit. It had been loose for a couple of weeks but haven't had the time or money to bring it in for preventative measures before it broke. AAA came to the rescue, got the car to Autowerke in Napa just as Andrew was getting ready to roll down the doors and close for the weekend. He said he had no time to "open up" the patient since he was closing but that he'd look at it on Monday morning. I agonized all weekend since this is also my work vehicle I didn't know how soon I was going to be able to get back on the road and keep working. Monday morning came and I showed up at the shop around 9:15am and spoke to David who said he was getting ready to look at the car and that he'd call me as soon as he knew what to tell me. The diagnosis was a broken (lower) gear selector and broken steering wheel mount. The cost....a rectal golden brick. You know what I mean. Needless to say...the car is undriveable plus I don't really have time to dick around looking for a "second" opinion and plus I trust these guys. I bring all my cars to smog here and with the antenna work David did recently for me and all the positive reviews on Yelp....I felt confident he was being genuine and fair priced. I gave the go-ahead with the work but it was too late to place the parts order for Tuesday delivery. That meant the parts would not arrive until Wednesday and he would TRY to put it all back together that afternoon. He explained that he could not promise me though since there were other cars ahead of me that needed to be finished and there just might not be enough time to get mine done before they closed Wednesday afternoon to remain closed until Monday because of the 4th of July holiday. I explained also to them that anything they could do to help me out would be appreciated. If I didn't get the car back by Wednesday it meant having to pay either $400.00 for an SUV for 2 days or $360.00 for a minivan for 3 days so I could still work during the weekend. At this point I just left it to their capable hands. To my surprise and delight I got a call in the middle of the day on Tuesday from Andrew letting me know that they got the part early and that the car was all back together and ready to roll. I don't know how they were able to get the job done so fast but I give them high praise for taking the time to care about my predicament. They also saved me $400.00 for the rental I was going to pick up in order to work during the weekend if the car was not going to be ready on Wednesday. I will continue to bring my cars here and will recommend them to anyone looking for a fair and reputable shop with genuinely nice mechanics. Oops, I almost forgot to include this. When Andrew called to say the Sequoia was ready he told me that he charged the battery and in doing so found that the positive terminal on the battery cable was broken and wasn't making good contact. He was concerned that one day I might find myself driving a client and that I would turn off the car and not be able to restart due to a faulty battery connection that would not have been visible to the naked eye. He included this in the work that was done and only charged the cost of the part...a paltry $8.00. Kudos to all the staff at Autowerke. read more

I came in today with an emergency, my Mustang had lost half it's belt and the tension assembly was non-existant, it was completely disintergrated! Today was my birthday and I had a friend who was taking me out too lunch, so I didn't want to deal with fixing it myself. I pulled up and a gentleman came out with no hesitation and looked it over and told me too come back in an hour and it would be fixed! And it was, I never take my cars to mechanics because my father is one and I've learned a lot over the years and I do it myself. I was test-driving a used truck and brought it in for the guys to look it over. David was excellent about staying in touch with me throughout the process, notifying me of repairs needed, letting me know I don't necessarily have to go further with a compression test (trying to help me save $), even though I had told him I wanted one. They gave a thorough overview of the repairs the truck would need - putting my mind at ease so that I had a good idea of what I'd be getting into if I bought the truck. 2008 BMW X5 needed new brakes and brake fluid. They got me in quickly, and the repairs were done by the time they stated. I also had them look at an issue with the seatbelt sensor, and while they discovered there was no simple fix, they didn't charge me for investigating it and called me the same day to provide more info. Years ago I had a nearly mint low mileage white on white 1993 Mustang GT convertible with a supercharger that needed the noisy bearing replaced. David usually helped me but this time Andrew took it upon himself to write my service order. Well, after much waiting for many days, Andrew returned the car. Aside from the car being quite dirty, the Vortec supercharger was still noisy. The car had been beaten, hard. Andrew had driven it home and auto-crossed it or something over the weekend. Burning donuts etc and apparently over-revving the engine, big time. The soft tire compounds coated the inside of the wheel wells after being disintegrated under hard g forces cornering etc. An oil sensor blew out of it's hole so the car smelled like dirty oil. David, when I brought it to his attention, plugged it back in it's hole. I checked with Vortec as each supercharger unit has a serial number. Andrew of course never sent it in for repairs. Charged me $3500. I didn't have that kind of money, never received and estimate from Andrew as we were all 'friends.' So, I made payments totaling nearly $1500. Then I said screw it. David gave me a lecture, but could not do anything as Andrew never had me sign an estimate. Beware of these two, especially Andrew. read more

i called one morning apparently before they were open. they didnt have an answering machine saying what their hours were. Anyway, when i called asking if i could bring my car in the gentleman that answered seemed very annoyed by my call. He said he didnt know since the computers werent up, because they werent open yet. He then said i could bring the car in, but there was no telling as to when theyd get to it. If you're not open yet.. dont answer your phone if you're not ready to deal with customers.
