I live in Aiea, for years we've been without a doughnut shop!!…read more Island Glaze showed up a couple of years ago and I am thrilled! I really enjoy their glazed doughnuts, they taste like Krispy Kreme to me! I have cruised through the other choices and liked several of them! They do a good job with their fruit flavors. Strawberry, guava, and passion fruit were yummy! Peanut butter and jelly was good too! The people there are always eager to please and very friendly, even when I can't decide what I want to try! The shop itself is bright, there are places to sit and areas for kids to play! More importantly the shop smells heavenly and the doughnuts are fresh!!

My inner fat kid was already side-eyeing me like "we both know that's not enough." That glazed donut though? Unreal. Soft, moist, and that glaze is straight disrespectful. Like melt-in-your-mouth, why-am-I-eating-this-so-fast kinda good. I took one bite and immediately started doing the math on how fast I could turn around and grab more without looking crazy. Halfway through the box I was already mad at myself. Who buys 6?? That's not a quantity, that's a warm-up. Should've got 12 and saved myself the emotional damage. Only reason it's not a 5/5 is because now I'm sitting here donutless, thinking about going back like a man with unfinished business. Next time I'm letting the fat kid make all the decisions

I inhaled the ube pandesal but that ule Bulilit bread? MY KRYPTONITE! The ube jam had my skirt flipping. Ube pandesal is a popular Filipino purple yam bread roll, characterized by its soft, fluffy texture, vibrant purple color, and often filled with cheese and ube halaya (purple yam jam). It is made with flour, yeast, sugar, ube powder/extract, and milk, then coated in breadcrumbs and baked. I learned that ube Bulilit bread is a popular Filipino bite-sized, soft bread filled with sweet, purple yam (ube) jam, most commonly sold by Valerio's Tropical Bakeshop. These small, chewy, golden buns are known for their vibrant purple filling and are often enjoyed as a snack or dessert. They offer a subtle, creamy sweetness and are a staple in Filipino bakeries, particularly in Hawaii. This place is not safe. Had I been the one to enter this establishment, I would leave lighter in the wallet and definitely heavier in weight!

The ladies working were pleasant, quick and efficient with my order. I ordered 2 with sugar and 2 without sugar. It was a Thursday afternoon, and we mingled with the intrepid tourists who drove to Central O'ahu. This malasadamobile is permanently parked in food truck row. You can see it from the freeway. You can see Laverne's, the malasasamobile, Mountain Shave Ice, Thong's Thai, Taste Tea, Dick's Lechon, and ... the blood bank mobile. The truck ladies had to be sweltering but they were still nice. And it's always a happy atmosphere when you're about to get a box full of deep-fried, sugar rolled doughnuts. I stuck with the classic sugar but we also got some cinnamon sugar and stuffed (dobash and haupia) to share.

My kids and I look forward to our morning coffee and donuts, and the staff here are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They always go above and beyond with their customer service, not just for me, but for my kids too. They even know my kids by name, which means so much to us and makes every visit feel personal and welcoming. People need to remember they are on an island and shipments come by boat. Yes, sometimes things run out or there's a wait because they are busy -- but I would gladly wait an extra 5 minutes for the correct order and genuine kindness. The team here works hard and it shows. I've worked in the restaurant industry before, and I think before leaving negative comments people should try putting themselves in the employees' shoes for a moment. These workers deal with long lines, busy mornings, shortages, and still continue showing kindness and patience every day. A little understanding and grace can go a long way. Thank you for making our mornings brighter and for making our time here feel a little more like home. We appreciate you all so much!
