The staff and food were a delight. Worked with Vivian to reserve a table for a family member's milestone birthday and she was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and proactive. We had a wonderful server, Brittani, who provided excellent service. She was very kind, kept our drinks flowing, and didn't miss a single detail on the orders. The hospitality here is unmatched. The food was delicious. Every item we ordered was fresh, hot, and seasoned to perfection. The fried pickles, seasonal and Caesar salads (with perfectly cooked salmon), bourbon chicken, pesto pasta, and kids' meals (chicken strips with fries) were all outstanding, and the key lime pie was the perfect sweet finish. We had dinner here in late summer and were blown away by the menu and service. Our teen sons were really happy with the variety and we had such a great evening. From the cocktails to the apps, then some pretty stellar entrees, I had zero complaints. We made a reservation because we knew that being a more upscale place in such a "remote" area, it would probably be busy. And we knew to expect the prices $$$ as we checked ahead to see the menu and dress code. Being a restaurant on the lake, we didn't want to show up in bathing suits and cover ups if that was not the vibe, so I'm glad we checked. We finished our lake activities late afternoon and were showered and dressed (khaki shorts, polos for the guys and a sundress for me) and felt like we were appropriately attired. Because of the pricing I don't think I would take small children there, but as a once in a while treat with our teens I am looking forward to going again! Definitely will happen this winter as we won't be on the water once it gets cold out and sometimes you just need a treat and a change of scenery compared to most of the casual dining options around SML. read more

First of all Brittani is the best! She was on it from the get go. The restaurant has your lakeside feel but here is where it changes. I have been at SML for 35+ years. This is the best fine dining experience I have ever had. The service is a big part of it but the quality of the food is exceptional. Open year around is a huge plus. What a great treat this place was for dinner last night! We luckily had a reservation, which was needed, which was the beginning of our great experience. We were greeted immediately by 3 smiling hosts and were seated immediately (I wish all restaurants who took reservations sat their guests immediately)! Within a minute, literally, our server- 'Josh' was at our table greeting us. He helped us with the menu, explained the daily specials and returned shortly with our drinks and their fresh bread. There were 4 of us and we ended up sharing their Burrata Salad as an appetizer. The salad was absolutely delicious, every single part of it! For entrees, we ordered: -Tortellini Alfredo w/ Blackened Chicken -Chilean Sea Bass -Mahi (Daily Special) -Clam & Mussel Pasta Bottom line was that every plate was completely finished! EVERYONE on our party raved on both the portion size and delicious flavor! Personally, I've had the Pasta with Clams & Mussels in many other places but this version was VERY unique and delicious in flavor. And like everyone else in our party, there was nothing left on my plate! Also, as I mentioned before, portions were perfect! Josh checked in with us a few times and making us lack for nothing. We finished up our dinner with a piece of their Chocolate\Peanut Butter cake. The ambience was pretty plain, definitely not as awesome as their service and food. We sat on the back deck overlooking the lake and loved the service, atmosphere, and food. My husband had the Chilean sea bass and I had the duck- both were excellent. The sweet potato mash was to die for. Their chocolate torte was very yummy. Great drinks and wine list, too. This is my favorite restaurant at SML. read more

3 stars because their on to something, yet they are a pinch away from 5 stars due to their lacking in excellence in the categories of service and food preparation. Is this a good spot for dinner after a long day in the water? Yes. Will it blow you away? Almost. They've got the right ingredients. Their food is flavorful. They've just got to do a better job at measuring out how much of each ingredient is used in the dishes. For example, the pesto was so salty I drank 4 cups of water. The chefs recommendation was a medium rare cooked duck, but it was cooked well done. Salad was drenched in Balsamic because the chicken was dry. The scallops were the only dish I wouldn't complain about :) Like I said- it's all flavorful. It just needs to be executed to a higher standard. read more

We arrived 9 minutes before our reservation and were asked to wait and were showed where the bar was, 22 minutes after our reservation as we watched walkins being seated we asked what the problem was so we were given a table at a very busy spot for staff. Placed our order but never got my salad that should have preceeded my pasta that was tasty. My husbands pork porterhouse was absolutely outstanding as well as the sweet potato mash so we were left with a very mixed opion. read more

We live in bedford so not super close but not far and love to eat on the lake when we go out. Tried this place for the first time today and this is definitely a new favorite. Host's were very welcoming, our waitress was very kind and catering, and our food was phenomenal. Points for not only how amazing the food tasted but the presentation was very appealing. At best this is a below average restaurant if located anywhere near a more populated area. Two of our three appetizers most could make at home and do a much better job. Two of the main dishes were bad and not close to being average. The fact that they serve béarnaise sauce that looked like butter and mayonnaise combined together then chilled, was laughable. Chicken O'scar was the only dish that was not bad. We brought friends to this restaurant and the food was embarrassing. Why do I even need to mention - don't serve sauces in the same tiny plastic containers you find at the fast food restaurants for your ketchup? We ate at this location under the original owners before Covid and it was very good. Napoli is not in the same league as prior owners. read more

Sadly I've had two bad experiences at Napoli By the lake. it is a weekend in August, at the Lake, and the restaurant is unable to take any "to go" orders at 6:20 pm. In fact they rudely stated they are unable to take to go orders past 5:30pm. Seems they forget about serving the locals who support them through the off season as well. A few weeks ago, I arrived for a 5:00pm dinner reservation at 4:50pm. (all the tables except for one were empty) the hostess asked us to stand in the tiny entryway until our reservation time. ( they opened at 4:00pm) A member of our party is very obviously handicapped and unable to stand for even a few minutes. when I pointed this out, we were given major attitude! We were not asking to be waited on early. Just needed to be seated! read more

We were so lucky to get a seat at the bar at Napoli by the Lake on a Friday night without a reservation! The restaurant and bar were both full and the service and food were great. We ordered the lobster Arancini as an appetizer, and we each tried a salad. For my meal, I ordered the Chilean sea bass and my significant other ordered the chicken Oscar. The entree portions were a little small, but where they lacked in size, they made up for it in flavor. With the appetizer, salads, and dessert, we left feeling comfortably full. There were tons of locals seated in the bar area while we were there and they were all really friendly and nice to us while we dined. I also have to mention that the bartenders were doing a heck of a job keeping up with their bar guests as well as drink orders for the rest of the bar. We appreciated their food and dessert recommendations and cannot wait to visit again in the future. We'd consider this spot to be upscale dining with a lake flair and worth a visit if you are able to get a reservation or feel like going on a whim to shoot for a bar seat like we did I! read more

We took out an order of wings with mild buffalo sauce and an order of chicken tenders. The chicken tenders came with a side and we opted for mashed potatoes ($2.00 charge) and I ordered a side of rice ($2.00 charge). We also asked for a side of bleu cheese dressing which, along with celery, was an option with the wings. We asked for two sides of ranch dressing for the chicken tenders. We were told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. It actually took 30 minutes which wasn't that big of a deal. The chicken tenders were pretty good. Not great, but good enough. The mashed potatoes were actually whipped and heavily buttered potatoes. They appeared to be whipped with a mixer and were the consistency of pudding. Not very appealing. The wings were interesting. They had been rolled in mild buffalo sauce and appeared to be then air-fried which completely dried the skin and minimized any flavor. I'm used to wings being fried and then rolled in the sauce where the wings are actually wet in sauce. These wings had no sauce on them other than what had been fried into the skin. Disappointing. The side of wild rice that I paid for came in a smaller container that was only half full. That was just cheap. Fill the container to the top. It's rice. The bleu cheese dressing was tasty, but they did not include the celery. We only received one of the two ranch dressings we ordered and the ranch dressing was watery. It was the thinnest ranch dressing I've ever seen. It's as if they added water to the base dressing. Not appetizing and not flavorful. These two appetizers along with the upcharges for the sides and dressings plus tax came to a little over $41.00. I really wanted to like this place, but it was mediocre at best for the aforementioned reasons. read more

As we delivered the order we were rudely interrupted by the hostess who said "No, no! We won't take a large order for carryout". First, make up your mind. We recently tried to dine at Napoli by the lake, specifically because they had outdoor seating and a place to tie up our boat. The bar was packed but the restaurant itself was empty. When we asked to sit outside the hostess told us that they thought it might rain so hadn't opened the patio. Well, it didn't rain and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. But there wasn't any convincing her. Odd business model for what is probably a seasonal restaurant to turn away 4 meals plus drinks and appetizers. Don't even bother with this joint. We made a reservation over a week before, at the time that we made the reservation we were asked if we were whiling to seat at a high table at the bar, we said no that were were there to have dinner with another couple . So very disappointed! Waitress was absent. Never gave us a run down on specials-being our first time here we did't even know there were specials until the waitress at the next table was explaining them to her party. Never brought bread to the table until we asked for it when our meals were brought by the runner. Waitress never checked on us after food was served. Never offered drink refills, which were empty for most of the meal. Crab cakes were ok, steak was good, hot, remainder of food was mediocre and luke warm AT BEST. We spend a good amount of money eating out at fine restaurants, but will definitely mark this one off of our list.
