So we tried this place the other night for take out. Tried the hot fries, I tried the mild- really good!! I just didn't know they mix the Coleslaw in with it (I wasn't too kin on that but still good). We also got the Mac n cheese bites very tasty just wished I should've gotten more!! lol Also got the jalapeño poppers they had a good flavor!! The place is nice and modern- very clean. And the guy who gave me my food was great!! Very nice and since it was takeout I really appreciated the fact that he labels the different flavors I got! We will be back!! read more

Nashville Hot Chicken - Mesa, AZ Easily one of the best local spots I've eaten at in a long time. The food here hits every mark perfectly seasoned, crispy chicken with that real Nashville kick, balanced out by fresh slaw and the kind of waffle fries you actually want to finish. What really stands out, though, is the owner. You can tell he puts everything into this place constantly checking in, making sure every plate comes out right, and treating customers like regulars even if it's their first time. He's not hiding in the back he's front and center, working hard to make sure people leave happy. The sandwich with the waffle buns and sauce drizzle (see photo) is legit next-level the perfect combo of crunch, heat, and sweet. And those loaded fries? Dangerous in the best way. If you're anywhere near Mesa, this spot deserves your stop. Support small business done right this is how it's supposed to be. Fire ! Affordable prices/prices on par/cheaper than most fast food restaurants ($6.85 for chicken sando, $12.95 for chicken sando, fries, and a drink). While affordable, I was disappointed at the quality. The chicken was very dry, and scarce. Mild spiciness (we ordered blazin' which is "hot" but felt more like mild). The chicken sando had 1 chicken tender when it should have had at least 2. Half the sandwich had no chicken! I agree with others about the small portion of fries too. Waffle Sando, great in theory, but too much breading and too dry. Would give this place 0 star if I could. We came here on sunday 8/31/25 around 11:45 am. The door was shut and the lights weren't on. Yelp said they were supposed to open at 11:00 am... so we called them to confirm. For some reason, the guy on the phone said they open at 12:00 pm. So we decided to wait since it was only 15 minutes till they "open." We sat in the car until 12:05 pm and nothing happened. My boyfriend walked up to the door to check, and there was nobody inside. He called them again and got the same guy who answered the phone the first time (maybe he is the owner). He said, "oh I'll be there in 10 minutes.. ummm 13 minutes." We said forget it and decided to leave. Then we noticed there was a sign on the door that said they were opened at 11:00 am. I understand that things happen on the road and sometimes we can just be late to our jobs. Sometimes we just sleep through the alarm. However, you should not lie to your customers saying you're opened at the different time, nor should you had told us a time that you could not show up. Honesty and sincerity can go a long way. read more

Came in on a Wednesday, the place is pretty spacious. We were helped quick and he told us it'd be a 15 minute wait, the food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the number 3 combo chicken sandwich plate. My partner ordered a level 7 spice, which he said got his nose sweating but a nice level of spice. I got a level 5 spice which was perfect for those who want a tiny tingle with great seasonings. The buns were perfectly intact and fluffy. The chicken was crispy, the pickles and slaw was refreshing. We love this spot and stop by here often. We always get the 6 chicken sandwich special tossed in buffalo sauce without coleslaw. YUM!!! Owner is always really nice, I brought my kids in once and he asks about the whenever I stop by. This is the second time we've tried to come eat here and they were not open during their business hours. Extremely unprofessional. It's unfortunate because the food really is good but the inconsistency of being open during your business hours (which are posted online and on front of the building) makes it not worth it. There's plenty of other hot chicken spots throughout the valley. read more

My son Travis and I just enjoyed another great chow down at NHC. It has been over a year since we first stopped in and we were so glad to see them still open! We live in the far East Valley but since we had some chores to do in Tempe I thought let's try NHC again. Mary welcomed us in and after determining we were not "newbies" and knew what the menu offered taste/heat wise she helped us get our order in. Went here on a Monday night. Only one person was working. She was nice so I left a tip. Other than the service, the place was horrible. Fountain drink machine was down so I just ordered a soda can. The themostat was set at 81 degrees Fahrenheit so poor girl working there. Other than that, at least the service was nice. read more

We walked in and ordered a plain Jane no spice chicken sandwich and a chicken tender meal. Holy moly juicy and crunchy and delicious! Had to wait maybe 10mins but it's sooo worth it and I wonder if I need to learn how to be more patient for good food. Highly recommend maybe ordering online if that's a big deal but I think it's made FRESH and I think it's worth waiting. read more

Recommendation is to return dressing/sauce ramekins back to previous larger size and maintain better quality control on size and heat levels of chicken tenders. If your pieces are abnormally small just add another tender to make up for the shortage read more

Pictures of food advertised are very misleading. The chicken on my sandwich was real small, like half the size of the bun. I ordered "crazy fries" as an upsell and I just got regular fries. Barely any sauce on my sandwich. Restaurant was empty on a Friday at dinner time. Not sure where all these good reviews are coming from. This place sucks and wasn't worth the price. Popeyes is better and cheaper. read more

Went here on a whim. Let me just say. The food was out of this world. Cleaned my basket in 2 seconds. This dish is not officially on the menu (there is a Waffle Sando). The gentleman that checked us out was very friendly and offered just the Chicken n Waffles! The syrup and the Plain Jane sauce combo is out of this world. The chicken has a nice juicy flavor, like it was pressure cooked. Amazing, highly recommend. read more

Price and quality did not match…read more I ordered the pastrami sandwich and immediately noticed some cost cutting choices, like butter flavored spray (can we use real butter) US Foods/Chef's Store sourdough bread, (can we use real sourdough bread) and a microwave sitting next to the griddle (which the griddle looks like it has not been cleaned very often). I didn't think much of it at first, but then I watched the owner heat the pastrami in the microwave before assembling the sandwich. I've never had a deli sandwich prepared that way right in front of me, and it was disappointing. She also pulled out a large bag of Taylor Farms shredded lettuce. I asked for no lettuce, and she joked that "people don't want lettuce anymore." Given the recent news surrounding Taylor Farms, that comment didn't exactly inspire confidence. What really surprised me was that the pastrami was placed in a plastic basket and microwaved. Whether or not it's considered safe, seeing food heated that way wasn't very appetizing. Looking around, there also didn't appear to be any real kitchen equipment for preparing hot sandwiches beyond a microwave. A Blackstone griddle or even a quality countertop oven would have inspired much more confidence in the food, especially considering the owner's Yelp responses emphasizing the quality of their sandwiches. From what I experienced, the preparation didn't match those claims. In the end, we ordered just one pastrami sandwich and one beer, and the total came to about $25, with the sandwich alone costing over $17. For that price, I expected much better ingredients and preparation. Unfortunately, the quality didn't match the cost. We tried to be as nice as possible but we left feeling pretty disappointed and couldn't wait to get out of there.

They also offer a wide variety of Asian goods such as Vietnamese coffee you can make at home, spam, pastries, and a variety of chips you can't find in a regular grocery store. The prices for these banh mi sandwiches are very reasonable. One sandwich costs around $9. You can cut it in half and split it into 2 which is a deal! They make mine without jalapeños which is exactly how I like it. They forgot and put some in one of my sandwiches tonight, but no biggie. I just picked them off, lol. The dining room is large, but I have never dined in. I will eventually! The variety is enough for you to stand there a good while and ponder on what you want. My fatty self has ordered 2 sandwiches each time with a drink, and I'll probably keep that going! I also like that they offer smoothies, milk teas and other drinks you can add toppings to. You already know what I got! ;) The employees are always friendly and patient when I have questions. I had to park behind the building. The line was about 5-7 minutes long. I thought about getting a Bahn mi but have seen recent negative reviews- reviews even that they have failed the health inspection, so I decided against it. I ordered a small banana coffee which came out to ~$7. Although my order number was 10 behind the one that was being called, my drink was ready within a minute or two. I was expecting more of a cold foam but it is straight up banana PUDDING lol. So of course banana pudding on Vietnamese coffee is delicious! It mixed well; no clumps.

My co-workers also found Fate Brewing Company to be perfectly satisfactory, which honestly feels like a win in a group setting. Not the top of my AZ craft beer list but a place I enjoy and keep coming back to.

I came here with friends for the second time last weekend after being out playing sports all evening and I already feel the need to come back. This place makes you feel like family. I've only seen two people who work during the later shift and they are some of the nicest people when I'm there, even when they're backed up with a late night rush. In addition to service better than that of most full serve sit down restaurants I've been in the food here is just so damn good. The chicken is cooked to PERFECTION. Juicy, hot and fresh, crispy, wonderfully flavored. Mmmmmm. My friends and I are about 50/50 split between the classic Nashville Hot sandwich and the Waffle Sandwich. I'm a big fan of the waffle sandwich myself. The sweet and savory with the syrup is just killer. I upgraded my fries to their crazy fries this last time and would 100% recommend it. Their house pink sauce is fantastic. As if a great place couldn't get any better their prices are extremely cheap especially for the quality of food you're getting. Do not look at the photos of the food provided by the restaurant, they are intentionally misleading. Mediocre food that is falsely advertised portions and food quality. Ordered directly through restaurant for delivery, Uber fulfilled the delivery late and forgot the drink, called the restaurant about the notable difference between the advertised food and the quality and quantity of what we received as well as the missing drink. Was told I could drive to them to pick up a replacement drink and sandwich. Since me taking time to drive to them to remedy their mistake and poor quality food was not preferred, I asked for a refund of the drink to settle it and the person on the phone agreed that was fine. The payment for the food posts and the refund for the missing drink was not applied. Ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company. read more

Me: "Ok, do you think you can you tell me what they are?" Worker: (points generally at the menu) "They are there". I understand people have bad days, but acting all high and mighty because I'm asking simple questions? I mean, come on stop being a man-child. Then when I'm paying you have the nerve to say the usual "it's going to ask you a few questions" implying the TIP I'm suppose to leave when you don't even bring the food to the table? It's insulting that this place dares to ask for a tip when they do nothing for it. So two baskets of chicken strips and some fried cheese for $50, and all 11 of my fries were room temp (yes, I counted them since there were so few). Food took 14 minutes (I assume the drive thru was a bigger priority). The chicken was OK nothing really special. As a business owner myself, I couldn't help but watch 1 woman behind the counter doing 95% of the work including all drive thru orders while the others just stood around. Therefore my guess is this place is just poorly managed, so in my mind I can't help but think about what problems they must have in the kitchen if the front of house is like this. Maybe we'll give this another try in the future but likely not. Also the place currently has an odd smell so I'm guessing they are dealing with covering up a sewage problem.

Be careful if you're sensitive to heat because it does have a little spice kick to it. It's expertly cooked and we all liked it. I had a side of the fried okra which was second to none and some turnip greens that I relished. Gus's has a pleasant atmosphere and is nestled in an old warehouse I believe. The weight staff is attentive and it comes by very often to make sure you have everything you need. The place was clean and hospitable we will be returning.
