Well, Dave's Hot Chicken is in for some competition, in my opinion, because my food was amazing and honestly, I preferred it to Dave's. I ordered online and got the two-slider and fries plate for $17. Completely reasonable after trying the food. It was really good, crunchy breading, tender, juicy chicken, and the pickles are the bomb. The only weak link was the fries. They are absolutely good quality; I'm just not a fan of the seasoning and crunchy texture. I prefer straight up fries, or crinkle-cut with chicken because I think they pair better. That said, I'll happily devour just about any fries, and I ate them all. Now, a warning, I used to eat extremely spicy food/hot sauce such as Da Bomb, Hot Ones XXX, the Carolina Reaper level at Dave's Hot Chicken, seriously hot stuff. ‍ I don't venture into spicy territory much anymore because I'm older and simply can't waste an entire day dealing with the aftermath of eating insanely spicy food. Knowing my limitations, I ordered one Country slider and one Hot slider. I can still handle hot, just not crazy-level heat. I thought I'd be safe with "Hot." WRONG!!! ACZ Hot is SERIOUSLY HOT!!! I'd equate it to taking a bite of a habanero, and the burn lasts about as long as a habanero does. That said, it was amazing! The aftermath was a little rough but the flavor was so flippin' good, I felt the slight discomfort was worth it. I'll just think twice before ordering hot again. As for the service, the kid behind the counter was helpful, although a bit lethargic, but come on it's a fast-food joint so the level of attention I received was adequate. My order was ready at the stated time. As for the ambiance, it's a pretty typical grab-and-go spot. All in all, I'll definitely be making ACZ a habit. I'll probably stick to Medium instead of Hot, and I'll most likely substitute something else for the fries or just get fries elsewhere, not because of the quality, but simply because they're not my preference. On our first visit to Angry Chickz, on grand opening day of April 17th, I got the Hangry Fix (two tenders over rice with mac & cheese, slaw, and Angry Chickz Sauce) and the Angry Fries. They had mentioned that "Hot" level is that of a ghost pepper and woo! They weren't wrong. It was making me sweat. I think I'll stick to their recommended heat level of "Medium." Skip the Angry Fries and get the Hangry Fix. The mac & cheese and the buttery rice are pleasant. The fries aren't bad but it's just fries. Service was ridiculously spot-on on opening day. We've been waiting quite some time for another business to fill the empty Fired Pie location next to the Starbucks in our area. When we heard it was going to be an Angry Chickz it meant nothing to us because we had never heard of the brand. The other day we decided to give it a try, and we were more than pleasantly surprised. The employees were super friendly. They greeted us and asked if we had ever been in before. We said we had not and they gave us some time to look over the menu. We liked that they really only had 7 or 8 items. Some places do a few things well and they know it. No need for a huge complex menu if you can keep it simple and do what you do best. I went with the number 1 combo - two hot chicken sliders with slaw, pickles, and fries. I asked for just MEDIUM for the heat level. My wife got the number 4 combo - Two hot chicken tenders over a buttery rice topped with slaw, pickles and our Angry Chickz Sauce, and asked for it to be X-HOT. We got the food to go and added no drinks because we mobile ordered from Starbucks next door. Although adding drinks to your Angry Chickz ordered is simple enough - $2 if you want to add a soft drink. The location has ample seating, and one booth is above all others - it is bold and stands out and is called "The Hot Seat." Kind of a cool variation. We took our food home and enjoyed about half of it. The serving size was terrific and gave us two meals instead of one each. We will definitely be back for more Nashville Hot Chicken and will spread the word about our new local spot. read more

Specializing in Nashville Hot Chicken, Angry Chickz is one of the newest hot chicken places in the east valley. I've been stalking their Instagram for a while so I knew exactly what I wanted. I got the Hangry Fix (two tenders over rice with mac & cheese, slaw, and Angry Chickz Sauce). It's a whopping 1,810 calories but hey, their Instagram Reels worked because I still got it. It's a great way to taste a little bit of everything too. The buttery rice was tasty, the mac and cheese is everything you want, and the coleslaw calms the spice. At "hot" spice level, it made me sweat. The cashier said it was ghost pepper level and it was spicy for sure. I will be getting it at medium spice next time to have it be enjoyable. Angry chickz is good but extremely spicy. It was a very easy menu to choose from. I got the 2 tenders with rice and coleslaw. I chose the middle level of hot and it was spicy! At other places I can put up with hot wings with a hot level spicy with no issue but this was a struggle. It was still good but I absolutely needed that coleslaw. Service was great no complaints and the area was very clean. Would try again but not at that spice level and I would love to sit in the hot seat. read more

The food was excellent; generous portions and great flavor. This will easily last me two meals. A lot of the lower-star reviews seem to come from people who underestimated the spice level. It is definitely spicy, but I'd compare it to Dave's Hot Chicken. Most people will probably be happiest with Mild, and if you like some heat, Medium is a good choice. Hot is legitimately hot; manageable, but you'll want a glass of water nearby. I really did not enjoy my meal at all. I love spice and I cook with a lot of spices, but this was just entirely too hot! I got the number three meal which includes the chicken sandwich and a chicken tender. I will say the lady at the counter warned me that the hot is made with ghost peppers. I should have listened to her because that shit was insanely spicy to the point that it was uncomfortable. I took one bite and that was all I could do. I must admit I got it without coleslaw so maybe the coleslaw helps temper the heat but still it was too hot. I got the chicken tender, and I got that at a medium spice level. And again it was way too spicy. To me all you can taste is spice and you can't really taste the chicken. The fries even came out with some sort of spice on them. It was just too much spice! Again anyone that knows Me knows that I put Tabasco sauce on everything I cook with Serrano peppers and I make my food fairly spicy, but this is ridiculous! I don't understand why you would make the food so spicy that it's painful to eat and all you can taste is hotness! That does not make you a good cook. It makes you someone who overseas their food and that's not good! I won't be going back to this place ever again! Oh yeah it was $22 with the drink and a tip. Everything was great, but very similar to Dave's hot chicken. the only thing I'd recommend is sauces. Because the (dry) rub runs pretty spicy, having sauces for variety in your meal would be great! I've been here twice now, and the first visit was a solid 4. Chicken was excellent, medium was sufficiently hot and had a great flavor without searing off my taste buds. Mac and cheese was solid, fries were great, my only complaint would have been the dry, flavorless toast that looks like what you might get at Cane's but isn't nearly as good. For visit number two, the fries were cold and soggy and the chicken was smaller portions than the initial visit. In an effort to try and get a decent piece of toast, we asked for it to be buttered on both sides but it was just as disappointing as the first time. At some point we'll give them another shot, but I really hope someone at the top reads this and fixes the toast problem and teaches their employees how to properly work a fryer. read more

Order delivery, not far but food arrived cold, food order was wrong and when contacting the place about the food and the incorrect order their general managers response was "oh well nothing we can do" no sorry, no refund. Love ! Got the mild, with the Mac n cheese and rice. Sooo good. It was spicy with a little kick. My son got the country chicken and he loved it and he's picky. I read the reviews and obviously they were mad because THEY picked their spice level. A smart person would get a sample, which they offer OR start a level or 2 below ... . Let me start off by saying, this is not my first time at angry chicks. I have been to the glendale location and absolutely loved it but coming to the mesa location was a regret. the service by the two girls in the front was good. they were extremely nice , but the kitchen staff was extremely rude , they had attitude and no care in the world to even try to hide it. i have worked in customer service, that includes some work in a food place, retail, and call center. i know dealing with people isn't always the best but i genuinely was just a mom trying to grab a quick bite after dealing with a sick toddler all day. i could not enjoy my food, i love spicy food and have a high tolerance for spice but this was just toooo much, i could not enjoy the chicken at all and i ordered medium spice. again i have been to the glendale location and i know medium there was not the same medium i had in mesa, i had to throw my food out. upon ordering i experienced the cooks in the back smack lip , seriously if you're that miserable with your job maybe it's time to find a new one. i definitely will not be returning back to angry chicks, this experience has unfortunately ruined any chance i had of returning to either location. definitely not worth the $40 i spent. read more
