Was pleased with the…read moreexperience, which simply involved taking measurements and asking what changes I might want with the setup--much better than the high-pressure sales pitch from the bigger companies in the area. We pushed off the replacement thinking our unit would survive one more winter, but of course of furnace went out unexpectedly in the middle of the night during one of the coldest stints of the season. Called Residential Express the following morning, they pulled up my quote from 4 months prior, verified the price hadn't changed and were able to schedule me for a full HVAC replacement the next day. Freddie and Flavian arrived on time and were very professional moving through our house and working in our backyard and utility closet. They explained any changes they needed to make, went over the new setup and recommended service intervals, and hauled all of the old equipment away, leaving our house looking better than when they arrived. Very happy with our experience with Residential Express and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

When he completed the work, he cleaned up the debris that had fallen when he repaired my circuit breaker box. His attention to detail and cleaning up after himself are signs of elite contractors. It is certainly overwhelming to consider the scope and scale of a new build, and to think about what you would like the lighting to look like and how you would like it to function when the space doesn't even exist. We had the absolute best time working with Josh. First, he helped us hone our aesthetic vision, and to build cohesion into the lighting design. He also helped us wrestle with the technical challenges of recessed lighting in high slope ceilings. Through the entire process, he gave us the confidence we needed to easily make decisions and to put the vision into action for our home. Throughout the entire process, Josh was highly responsive, he communicated with clarity, and he had a fantastic sense of humor, challenging each of us appropriately when we were stuck in some kind of rut. His efficiency is remarkable and his design eye and skill is obvious. On top of all of this, he produced documentation that clearly conveyed the plan to our electrician, making our recent electrical walkthrough the best one he had ever been on. The electrician told us that most of the time people arrive with little to no clue of what they want, and it is a laborious, frustrating and overwhelming process. This company came to my home two months ago to fix my broken heat pump because I was not getting any heat and to this date has not resolved the situation. They are telling me that they are overwhelmed with service calls from both their customers and from many customers who had their units installed by other installers. Many of the local HVAC companies have been bought up by large corporations, and many of these customers are now satisfied with these larger, corporations, and want to deal with a local company. I have given Fannon many opportunities to finish their work, but they're telling me that I will just have to wait until their business slows down. Their secretary told me that their business doesn't usually slow down until March so that I will likely have to wait until March 2026. The owner of the company tells me pretty much the same thing.

I had a Fairfax County inspector come in to see what had been done so far. It failed. The inspector asked if I was sure the person who did the work had been licensed. Some places he had used too small a cable, other cables went back and forth between boxes, and in some places he'd put three lines where only two should go. I hired a new company and they also asked if a licensed electrician had done the work they were so incredulous. It's cost me almost $5,000 to redo the poor work City Lights had done. And then I found out that when he pulled our meter in April he had put it back in UPSIDE DOWN. We have an old meter so it will let power flow while upside down but will not register any use. As a result Dominion thought we were trying to steal electricity and pulled the meter without warning. It took me hours of phone calls, the intervention of our new electricians, and $1500 in cash to get our meter restored. Of course that left a black mark on our credit report. This was to date the single worst experience I'd even had with a contractor. And yes, I have photos and documentation.
