We were 8-year clients of Airplus before they were acquired and we reached out to Leonard Splaine who was one of the top certified companies for the Mitsubishi mini split system that we love. We needed an additional system and, assuming all went well, a new company to provide ongoing HVAC service. Every part of our experience with Leonard Splaine was fantastic and we've clearly found our new HVAC company. Owner Ted Leonard inspected our property for the job and provided a competitive quote, but my wife and I most appreciated his talking us through the job, tariffs, the HVAC industry evolution in recent years, and how he listened to what we wanted and made it happen. Ted also identified a separate problem with the airflow going to our central air system. I knew for years it sounded too loud and that the air filters were ridiculously hard to replace despite doing so every other month. Ted talked us through the problem and solution, and how it would substantially decrease the strain on and extend the life of our furnace. Our research confirmed his comments, and after the fix was complete the furnace is way quieter and clearly under less strain. Josh led the job and was perfect by taking care of our house, talking us through nuances of our HVAC system as he found issues, and going the extra mile to minimize the impact of the work on our infant. Josh was clearly looking out for our family and the completion of the job, but also the long term maintenance of our house. The ABSOLUTE WORST customer service I have ever received... I am not one to leave reviews (especially bad ones), but I want to let people know what they are getting into. I want to support local, family owned businesses but I have never had an experience quite like this. On June 4, a technician was supposed to come between 12-4 pm and inspect my a/c unit. At 4pm I received no call or update on the status of my appointment so I called your office. I talked to the receptionist three times and it took three separate phone calls and an hour and a half later to find out the technician had a family emergency. On June 5, I had a technician come and check out my unit. That afternoon, Patrick Eagles came to my house to give me a quote on the new unit. After he told me the price of the unit, I mentioned that it was a lot of money. His response was "Well, be grateful that you weren't in the hospital like I was for a month and a half with my throat issues." As a recent cancer survivor, insensitive comments such as that are not appreciated and I cannot imagine speaking to customers this way is encouraged. On June 10, the unit was installed in my condo. While the gentlemen who installed it were professional, the a/c unit worked for less than 20hrs. After the lack of customer service, the laying of personal grievances to make me feel empathetic, and then the fact that I spent $7500 to have an a/c system work for less than 20hrs is completely unacceptable. There is certainly not a "100 percent satisfaction guarantee". There was no follow up or anything. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY! read more

BEWARE!!! Bad business practices! We were told (after a day) that they couldn't get a board that went bad in my AC unit and I would need an entire new system. Within an hour of getting the part number, I found FOUR boards within 25 miles!!!! Called and picked one up and had someone else install. Everything back up and running! They clearly will screw customers over if given the opportunity - in the dead heat of summer, in the midst of a pandemic, Ownership (Ted somebody) decides to take advantage and lie and cheat to make a buck (yes, he was involved in this process) .....Too many vendors out there to let this go unknown. This day and age where lack of skilled people is a massive challenge, happy to have gotten the job done. -- Been a Leondard Splaine customer for 3 years since I purchased a home with an HVAC unit that LS had installed. I've only had Mike who has been excellent and timely. I prepaid for preventative maintenace and this year the experience has been terrible. I've had 2 separate appoints canceled the AM of due to "other client emergencies". I undesrstand that there are situations where clients need urgent help but prepaid customers should not have to be kicked down the road. I've had to take 2 1/2 days off to wait for LS (you have to be there to give them access to AC inside). Now I'm taking a third and hope they don't call the same day againt to cancel. Customers (especially those that have prepaid) should be treated better than this. It really shouldn't take 12 hours of paid leave to get someone to take care of your needs. After having contacted five other contractors, I eventually selected Leonard-Splaine to complete my heat pump replacement. I had my doubts at first after having had many bad experiences in the past with contractors in general. My experience has taught me that, unfortunately, you just cannot be sure about the outcome until the job is done. However, I have gotten wiser from jobs in the past, and I ended up selecting Leonard-Splaine even though they were neither the cheapest nor the most well-known. I chose them because of their ability to answer all of my HVAC questions regarding such items as overcoming increased head pressures caused by unit elevation differences as well as their thoroughness in analyzing my existing infrastructure. I have found that such knowledge among HVAC contractors is rare due to the lack of standardization across the industry. The other contractors could not answer my questions, pushed products that were expensive but would not function due to my in-place infrastructure, or were just rude. The job is now complete, and I am completely satisfied with the end product provided by Leonard-Splaine. The installation was neat, clean, and exceeded my expectations. The technicians were very respectful of my property and cleaned-up major debris. My only regret is that I do not have more projects for them. I was introduced to Leonard-Splaine thru Steve Thompson 9 years ago and because I was very impressed with his professionalism and knowledge I first started with the yearly HVAC inspection for both my oil and Mitsubishi heat pump. I was impressed with their work and cleanliness and continued to use them every year. Then, they spotted a serious hazard and was patient and polite in answering all of our questions. I think all of us are hesitate with contractor because of past experiences but they were so honest and also offered financing options.
