Set along aside a picturesque canal, at 3.28 acres, this park is much larger than your typical neighborhood park. Park amenities include a basketball court, benches, and a very nice covered playground with climbing structures and swings There is also a swing set. Also in the park is a memorial to Lucas Donovan Repetto. Lucas was the young son of City of Miami Fire-Rescue Lieutenant Patricio Repetto. He tragically passed away from an accident at the age of almost three. In his memory his family created this memorial and collected and assembled Joy Kits for the patients of Joe DiMaggio Children's hospital. My favorite part of visiting this park was discovering an adorable burrowing owl in the open area of the park. Burrowing owls are protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. These owls are small and live in underground burrows found usually in parks. It is always a treat to find one and then quickly leave it in peace.

It seems that the city is also investing in various upgrades, memorials, as well as public arts project in the park. Overall positive experiences every time ive gone.

This spacious 4.5 acre neighborhood park has many amenities that include a softball/baseball field, football/soccer field, open area for play, tennis court, covered playground, and a popular covered basketball court. This park also has a public art work mural named Mecca by artist Charles E. Humes that represents the history, spirit, and cultural identity of the West Park community. Mary Saunders Park also offers programs that include tennis camp, summer camp, and an after school program. Fields, the tennis court, and the basketball court can be rented for private events. This park is a community focal point that is ideal for events, exercise, and outdoor recreation.

We were headed to a new coffee shop in the area and decided to stop by when we saw pickleball nets. We ended up coming right after the elementary school got out and it looked like a lot of the after school care was at the park. There is a super nice playground and two pretty big fields which were taken up by all the kids. It was nice seeing how active everyone was and how the park was utilized. We walked over to where the pickleball nets were, which were on the basketball court. There are lines on the floor for the pickleball dimensions and the nets are mobile so you can move them out of the way if they aren't being used. We set it up to play and it was pretty nice to just hit the ball around and drill for a bit. Overall, the park was super nice and very well maintained.

You can find it next to Indian Trace Elementary School who often uses the park during the week. Indian Trace Park first opened 25 years ago but in 2019 it received upgrades. Now this park has so much to offer starting with an ample parking lot. Overflow parking is at the school when it is not in session. Paved walkways wind through the park leading to the new restrooms, fitness station with shade canopy, baseball/softball field, resurfaced full court basketball, pickle ball court, shade covered playground with poured in place surfacing, picnic pavilion with tables, lighted walkways, and a bike fixit station. Modifications were also made to existing drainage, water and sewer infrastructure, and ADA improvements were made. The landscaping is beautiful with neatly trimmed shrubs and colorful flowering trees. The cascading yellow blooms of the cassia tree were stunning. The restrooms are some of the best I have ever seen in a public park. They even have a QR code so you can report any bathrooms that need a clean up. Indian Trace Park has everything you need in a neighborhood park. Come out to play, exercise, or picnic in the wonderful city of Weston.

An example of a well designed neighborhood park is Welleby Palms Park, a small neighborhood park in Sunrise that is used by the Welleby Communities. There is no parking lot or restrooms which discourages use by anyone outside the immediate community. I find the parks in Sunrise to be exceptionally well maintained and Welleby Palms Park is no exception. Park amenities include a volleyball court, swings, and a playground with climbing structures and slides. I was impressed with how nicely landscaped the park was. During my visit kids were playing on the equipment and riding bikes. Due to the small size, recreational options are limited at this park. Fortunately the much larger Oak Hammock Park is located around the corner and within walking distance of this park. Oak Hammock has a nature trail, much larger playground, and restrooms.

It's also walking distance to Oak Hammock Park. There were some events, hosted by City of Sunrise. Overall, a cute little neighborhood park, my toddler loved it!

At the time it was the first green initiative park in the city because the playground, pavilion, garbage cans, benches and picnic table were made from recyclables. In addition drought tolerant plants were chosen. On June 3, 2023 a newly renovated Sunrise Park opened to the public. Although the park is only a half acre it feels so much bigger. Park amenities include paved walkways, outdoor fitness gym, benches, a ping pong table, playground, picnic area, restrooms, and my favorite part, a beautiful butterfly garden that attracts a number of butterflies. This park is really beautiful and it has everything you could want in a neighborhood park. Another welcome amenity is it actually has a parking lot. You have to pay to park on the street at many of the other parks in Hallandale. Sunset Park is a wonderful place to take kids to play and this is one of the rare parks where the adults looked like they were enjoying it as much as the kids.

The park is in the back of the shopping and dining complex along a picturesque lake that has fountains. The Weston Town Center was designed to be a place where people in Weston can eat, meet, and stroll, a place that could be the heart of Weston. Town Center was modeled on Mizner Park in Boca Raton which also has outdoor shops and restaurants and a green space for events and recreation. The main park amenity in Town Center Park is an outdoor amphitheater that can be used as a stage for city events. The park also has paved walkways, landscaping, restroom, and benches. Bikes and dogs are prohibited in the park. Unfortunately the kids have taken over the park as a place to ride bikes and pop wheelies. It is probably safer than having them out among the cars in the parking lot but it takes away from the serenity and your ability to safely walk around. I think the park is really best for when the city stages outdoor events that brings the town together, hence the name Town Center Park.
