Absolutely as good as it gets!…read more I was in need of dentist for my 2 year old. I had heard enough dental horror stories to know I wanted a pediatric dentist. When I first moved here I heard some parents say Auburn Pediatric Dentistry was a good place to go, so given it's the only pediatric dental facility nearby I decided to give it a shot. I spoke with Jenny on the phone, who was extremely professional, yet friendly (the best combination in customer-oriented field). She was detail-oriented and smart enough to verify that our scheduled time was not during nap time (a brilliant question to ask!). She gave good advice as to what to tell my daughter about the upcoming visit and when I had questions to ask I didn't feel like I was being hurried off the phone (invaluable!). Jenny emailed me the forms to fill out ahead of time and then I also got a reminder call a week in advance. I believe our appointment was about two weeks from the time we called, so that seemed like a reasonable time to wait for an opening. When I first heard the dentist's hours I thought "well that's typical!" Meaning dentists always seem to have a truncated work week. However, in the next sentence, it was explained that the days that Dr. Derrow wasn't in the office was because she was doing work at Riley's Children's Hospital and the like. Okay, well, see, this is why you shouldn't jump to conclusions. She wasn't off getting her nails done--she was helping really sick kids. So today was D-day. After reading Dora's "Show Me Your Smile" book a dozen times we headed over (it's very near the hospital). Everything about their office is geared towards their patients; they even have an alligator mailbox! We walked in and saw my daughter's (first) name listed on the Welcome Board. What a nice little touch! We were given a warm welcome by Jenny when we signed in. The fish tank (Nemo-themed) and kid sized tables and chairs were greatly endorsed by my daughter as we sat in the waiting room. They do have a policy about not being seen (potentially) if you are more than 10 minutes late. I think we got called in right around 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. (I would have a problem with an office where you can't be 10 minutes late, but they can. Not that I think the clients should be late. More so, I believe the doctors/dentists shouldn't be either!) We were taken back by Megan who did her best to elicit a smile from my daughter by taking the time to show her the treasure chest and the paintings of the underwater scenes through out the office. She did a fantastic job of talking to both patient and parent and in explaining what was going to happen in child-friendly terms. Dr. Derrow was a blessing! She took several minutes before getting started to talk with my daughter and asked questions that are 2 year old-friendly (Do you have any dogs at home? Are you in a big-girl bed or still in your snuggly crib?). She even had grape-scented purple latex gloves. How cool is that? What told me this was a place to have as our "dental home" was when my daughter started to cry (it's virtually inevitable at this age, isn't it?) and I began singing, "Wheels on the Bus" and I was joined in by not only Megan, but also by Dr. Derrow. Everyone in that office goes above and beyond to make your child feel cared for and welcomed. So many people congratulated my daughter on her first dental visit (even staff that wasn't directly caring for her) that it felt like she had a cheering section. Moreover, all of the staff seems to get along with one another, as well, and it shows. Oh and Tracy was extremely pleasant and super helpful as we were paying and saying goodbye. I even ended up with a good recommendation for Chinese food on my way out! One thing I might do differently, though, is just to pick up their dental brochure before going in for your child's first visit. The pictures show what the office looks like and there are photos of Dr. Derrow to help your child know what and whom to expect. Over all, I will absolutely be recommending this office again and again. Auburn is very blessed to have them here.

I will never take my child back or refer anyone to this place. Very first visit and the dentist…read moresuggests surgery to do all work at once in the hospital while being put under. Then wants $6,000 up front before scheduling and after talking to several friends and family members this same place has been doing the same to others since they have opened in 2006. I would not suggest taking your child to this woman and then when you tell them you can't afford to pay that much up front they criticize you and talk to you like you are an idiot.

I have never been so disrespected by someone who truly feels that their title as office manager with blue hair and incredibly shitty attitude is above all else. You are a glorified assistant. I'm disgusted and truly wonder if this dentist and office has taken advantage of numerous patients. Disgusting. Be professional and at least LOOK professional.

MAH Horrible experience…read more I would like to preface this by stating that I have previously had a very positive opinion of Dr. Cohrs personally. I firmly believe his bedside manner, attention to detail, and dental work are truly impeccable, and I appreciated his clinical care during my previous visits over the years. During my most recent visit though, things had changed. I was told by the hygienist, Lyndi, that a panoramic X-ray was "required by law" to maintain their license, with implied risk if refused. No such Michigan law exists--regulations cover equipment safety only, not mandating patient imaging (per LARA-Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and Michigan Dental Association). My low-risk profile (excellent hygiene, no cavities in years, healthy gums, recent normal bitewings) showed no clinical need. ADA 2026 guidelines require panoramic only when necessary, to minimize radiation, not routinely. When I raised the issue feeling misled about Timberview losing their license, the hygienist called in the office manager who was beyond rude, defensive, interrupted repeatedly by obscuring and pivoting to "our standard of care," then asked my opinion of their standard. I said it felt revenue-driven rather than evidence-based. She immediately told me to leave. This was gaslighting: obscuring the obvious falsehood with vague "patient care standards" and punishing honest feedback with abrupt dismissal. Deceptive communication and unprofessional handling erode trust. Patients deserve transparency, not pressure and deflection. Unfortunately the unprofessional conduct of the office manager--particularly her repeated interruptions, twisting of the initial misleading statement, dismissive attitude, and abrupt decision to ask me to leave after I shared my honest opinion--has eroded my trust in the practice as a whole. Despite my high regard for Dr. Cohrs' skills and care, this experience will unfortunately prevent me from returning. Perhaps the business/name change to Timberview Dental has caused the business to now become profit driven over patient care driven. Be VERY careful about agreeing to unnecessary procedures that are lining their pockets.

I am so impressed that the kids are seen at appointment time, in and out with a cleaning and the Dentist was present & on time. The ladies explained everything going on for the parents and my kid loves he gets to lay down and watch a movie, then a prize at the end of the appointment. I look forward to coming here and feel the experience is going to remove the stigma of dentists for the next generation. Kudos to the office!

Not Dr. Kilgore..she checks EVERYTHING to make sure all is currently well with my children and also goes over preventative care that should be done. We saw her today and I've never been so pleased to see what an amazing job she does. She is someone who genuinely cares about her patients. I've never seen her without a smile on her face nor have I ever met a Dr that will take as much time needed to explain things to the children, as well as their parents. She remembers us every time we step foot into the office and makes us feel so comfortable. My son ADORES her. He loves seeing his favorite Dr, as he would say. She sits down, chats with him about school or what's new in his life. I couldn't be more grateful to have her as a dentist for my son. She always asks how I'm doing and always offers a helping hand. It means so much to myself and my son. There need to be more doctors and people like her in general. She is a genuine kind hearted person. Not to mention our hygienist is so sweet and is someone who is very experienced. We have her every time we are in and absolutely love her and what a wonderful job she's done. If you're thinking about taking your little ones to the dentist and you want your child to have a staff that is so kind and compassionate, then this is definitely the place to go. Again, coming to see Dr Kilgore was a major score for my family! It takes someone special to be a pediatric dentist and she's just so naturally good with our children and they never have any fear of coming to the dentist. Five stars is definitely not enough to say how great Dr Kilgore and staff are. You all are sincerely amazing people and are so good at your profession. Thank you Dr. Kilgore for everything you have done to help us!!
