A brief phone call should have been enough to resolve matters. However, they would not cancel the policy. Then ensued hours of calls, e-mails, etc. on our part to try to cancel the policy. Finally, after 3 months, we received a letter cancelling the policy from Allstate backdated to the month my parents called. Yet Allstate had already passed on the amount to a collections agency and now we are being hounded for an amount we never owed for coverage never received. Maribel refused to help us with the collections agency even though it was her mistake in the first place that set off the whole affair. We have never dealt with such an unscrupulous and unhelpful insurance agent in our entire lives. You can bet our family will never use Allstate again personally, for our business, or the organizations I am involved in. Elderly people are victims of scams and scammers all the time so it is especially horrible she would choose to pick on elderly folks. She is the type of agent who gives all agents - many of whom are reasonable people - a bad name.
