We had purchased a house that unbeknownst to us had defective plumbing. The plumbing was well known in the area and there had been a class action lawsuit on this plumbing manufacturer since 2011. Neighbors had experienced catastrophic leaks due to this defective plumbing. We came into the Sacramento area from the Bay Area completely blind to this problem. Slowly, as we got to know the neighbors, they told us all about the plumbing problems. This major plumbing issue was never disclosed to us on the real estate forms by the original homeowners, our realtors, the sellers realtor, or the home inspector. The HOA also confirmed that the original owner was informed by mail, email and the notice of the defective plumbing was on their website for years. We chose to have the whole house replumbed and we did this with two kids and two cats living with us. It was kind of a nightmare to go through this process because the house was large and nearly every room was disturbed. It was also very costly. If we had known about the defective plumbing and all the problems in the neighborhood, we would've replaced it before we moved into the house...or not bought the house in the first place! Matthew was diligent in getting all the information gathered from us. His paralegal Brenda was also very helpful. We ended up winning our case through arbitration and recovering our costs. There were numerous phone calls and emails, and Matthew was always professional and friendly. I do believe he's a good attorney.
