I was visiting from California on a business trip, and I needed to get to Savannah, where my ID was being mailed. I called the rental counter at Augusta Airport, explaining my situation, but they told me they only accept a physical driver's license. I then contacted Alamo's corporate office, and after speaking with the managers there, they confirmed that given the circumstances, they would accept a copy of my driver's license, and I could pay the rental fee online since all my cards were stolen. However, when I arrived at the Augusta branch on the day of my reservation, the staff refused to honor what corporate had told me. The young woman working at the counter treated me with a shockingly rude and uncaring attitude. Even after I showed her my government badge and explained my situation, she refused to show any compassion or understanding. I even called the manager on duty, who said the same thing--that despite what corporate had told me, they would not rent me the car without the physical license. He mentioned that corporate couldn't dictate the branch's policies, which felt extremely unprofessional and contradictory. As a middle-aged man who is obviously of a different ethnicity than most people in the area, I couldn't help but feel that I was treated with a lack of respect and empathy that others may not have experienced. While I cannot say for certain if this played a part, it's hard to ignore the possibility. What upset me more than anything was the lack of empathy and the dismissive attitude of the staff. I am a professional, on a government business trip, and was in a desperate situation, yet I was treated like I was asking for something unreasonable. This experience not only caused me a significant amount of stress but also cost me a great deal of money for alternative transportation (Uber) and a lot of inconvenience. It was incredibly frustrating to be treated like I didn't matter, especially when Alamo's corporate office had already assured me that I could use my electronic ID. This kind of unprofessional and uncaring behavior is unacceptable, and I will not be using Alamo again.

Once again I arranged for an elite SUV for a wedding trip only to be put in a car which was so uncomfortable because of the height room for anyone over 6". What is frustrating is that you make the reservation based on the vehicles offered at the location. You confirm the reservation and add the credit card in ADVANCE so that they confirm you will pick up in 24 hours. You arrive ON TIME for your reservation and get told not only do they not have your vehicle but we will take only 20 dollars off TOTAL for the much less expensive vehicle we have to take or risk paying double at one of the other rentals in the airport due to same day reservations . As they know they have you over a barrel because most people travel on a timed schedule. Only to go out to the parking lot and have to fully sanitize the vehicle offered because it smells like someone was in there heavily smoking in the vehicle. But at least you were lucky to have a vehicle because the young lady standing next to you can't even get her vehicle because the one minivan they had in stock was given to someone else. Their response was take this midsize SUV and make do. Even though when she spoke to them an hour before, they said the vehicle was ready for pick up. How a vehicle reserved for 7-8 is supposed to fit in an SUV that holds 5 supposed to "make do". Of course no one in the area has the vehicle she requested right from another enterprise or one of the sister businesses in the area at the time of day. Keep in mind, this reservation was not on a holiday weekend or a high travel weekend. We were attending a wedding and wanted the SUV in case the weather was wet or icy since the weather had been fluctuating in Ohio for a few weeks including snow. We have used Enterprise in Columbia SC for family trips to Florida x 4 over the last year, the same account and during busier travel dates to go to Orlando and every single time not only do we get our vehicles on time, but the transaction is worry free and quick. They meet you in the lot and review that you are satisfied with your vehicle before completing the transaction. We now have contingency plans that when we travel north in the future to use the Carolina branch instead even though we would have to pay to park in the airport lot, I am too old for the stress and hassle. We…read moreimmediately made a reservation for an Enterprise rental car once we confirmed our travel plans since the Masters is a huge event. We only wanted the rental car for half a day, to drive from Augusta to Savannah on Tuesday 4/9, picking up in downtown Augusta; dropping off in downtown Savannah. We made our reservations through the travel site July 28th 2023 and we were all set. Fast forward to the Thursday leading up to our pick-up date. Enterprise calls and leaves a voicemail and says that they can't honor our reservation. After a very heated conversation, we made some adjustments to our reservation and switched it to picking it up from the Augusta Airport on Saturday afternoon and dropping it off in downtown Savannah Tuesday afternoon. When my fiancé picked up the car, the car was filthy - boogers on the steering wheel, reeked of cigarette smoke (though a nonsmoking car), and they didn't bother to window wash the front windshield. Despite completing the paperwork online ahead of time, he still had to wait in line and repeat the same paperwork in the office. The drama with our rental car continues. On Sunday night, we got a flat tire. We noticed a sound on as we were driving back to our airb&b and once we parked, we saw we had a flat - a giant screw stuck in the rear tire and it was losing air quickly. We called the Augusta airport enterprise office. The first time we got through, the person hung up. Then I kept on going through an automated loop before I finally got through to someone. The manager Hampton told us they had no cars available for us at that time, there was no emergency assistance available, and that the earliest we'd likely be able to get a car is Monday afternoon/evening once people start returning cars. He couldn't save one of the cars returned Sunday night for us to get Monday AM - he doesn't work in the mornings and one of his colleagues may give the keys away. How is there no way to set aside the keys or lock them up? Completely unacceptable response... Also what's the point of having 'emergency service' if you literally did nothing to help our situation? Luckily we were able to change out the tire for the donut and we drove the Masters Monday morning on the donut. When we left the Masters around 5 pm, we called Enterprise to confirm we were on our way to swap out our car since we obviously couldn't drive all the way to Savannah on a donut. Hampton said they still didn't have any cars available and maybe after 7 pm or so they'd have one for us. Extremely frustrated by this, we decided to take matters into our own hands and drove to the downtown Enterprise location. The manager Lake there immediately helped us out and swapped out our car for a different one on the lot. That car didn't stink of smoke and had two additional Clorox wipes on the console if we needed to wipe it down further. Given the terrible customer service we experienced multiple times with this simple rental transaction, we will never be using Enterprise again. National is a hundred times better.

A couple hours after getting home I went back on the app to see if it was canceled , and of course the incompetent staff at budget never did cancel my reservation . There was literally two people there with one person waiting in myself and they still cannot get it right . I spoke to a very nice young man on their 800 number who did actually cancel my reservation , and I received the confirmation email that it was canceled . Trust but verify and in my opinion never ever use budget .

It was black and had some good features in there like a phone charging pad, easy media set-up and Sirius xm. I also liked that they had charging ports in the rear of the vehicle. Now for the cons. Company policy is that you have to sign a sheet saying that you received the car and it has gas and based on the person who cleans and checks the cars, it's in good order. But if it's not, you have to take pictures and then send an email. Well truthfully speaking, that's ridiculous. And I don't have another way to say it. I heard when the person in front of me was being told this but I'm like, is Dollar serious? First of all, legally speaking, no one anywhere should be signing anything without first examining the vehicle. I literally spent an hour in the rental lot videoing, and taking photos of the vehicle because: 1. I was told it was clean and unless my definition of clean is different, it was not. When I got to the car? There was big, nasty dirty bird poo on the windshield. Now, these guys can't be in control of that, but if someone is coming to rent the car that day, it should be checked. 2. The trunk was not clean 3. The side door has candy wrappers in the driver's side. 4. The hood of the Sante Fe was scratched up as well as the side view mirrors. There were also scratches on other areas of the car. 5. No wiper wash fluid So I had to spend extra time taking pictures to them send to the email. Then I turn on the wiper washer to try to get the bird poo off, but bc there was no wiper fluid, I couldn't get it ofc bc apparently the poop was so hard, you could tell it was there for a while. As I was about to go back into the airport to complain, I spotted a guy who worked there. I explained what was happening and he told me to follow him. So after spending one hour to takes pics, etc, I now had to follow the guy to take care of the wiper fluid. The kicker is when we get the the light, a train is passing. Not a 5 minute train, like a 15 train passing and all you can do is wait. So that was another hour and 15 minutes of my time. Then another 20 minutes to get to the place where they wash the cars and the guy was able to put on washer fluid and clean the bird poop. Come on Dollar, and whatever else car rental company that is doing this. #1. No one should sign without seeing the car 1st and being with someone to have the car being checked properly. I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time but some people don't check their vehicles when they drive off the lot. But I do. I have been burned by a rental car company even when doing the right thing- (BUDGET)! #2. There needs to be instructions on the paperwork on how to return the vehicle when dropping the car off before 7am. I arrived at the airport before 7am, and after I checked in, I said let me go to the counter bc they open at 7 and see if anyone was there. A guy was there and told me I should've dropped the keys off in a box down by Hertz. Really?! Where are the signs for that? Luckily, the airport is small and I was able to go back to the car and get the keys after I checked in. Written instructions are wonderful! Now if you don't read them that's a you problem, but for a small airport, it should be more simple than that. Do better Dollar @ Augusta. But I really liked my ride though. So that was a plus.

I actually had some personal stuff come up that required hauling after I got this vehicle so the truck helped out a lot and it worked out in my favor. She said the truck didn't have any issues but I took pictures of all the dings and scratches. It just worked out for me but if I really wanted a gas saving vehicle, I would have been out of luck.
