Dollar is located in baggage service ion the Augusta Airport. Michelle was pleasant and friendly and I appreciated that. I also like the suv I received (an upgrade), a Hyundai, Sante Fe. It was black and had some good features in there like a phone charging pad, easy media set-up and Sirius xm. I also liked that they had charging ports in the rear of the vehicle. Now for the cons. Company policy is that you have to sign a sheet saying that you received the car and it has gas and based on the person who cleans and checks the cars, it's in good order. But if it's not, you have to take pictures and then send an email. Well truthfully speaking, that's ridiculous. And I don't have another way to say it. I heard when the person in front of me was being told this but I'm like, is Dollar serious? First of all, legally speaking, no one anywhere should be signing anything without first examining the vehicle. I literally spent an hour in the rental lot videoing, and taking photos of the vehicle because: 1. I was told it was clean and unless my definition of clean is different, it was not. When I got to the car? There was big, nasty dirty bird poo on the windshield. Now, these guys can't be in control of that, but if someone is coming to rent the car that day, it should be checked. 2. The trunk was not clean 3. The side door has candy wrappers in the driver's side. 4. The hood of the Sante Fe was scratched up as well as the side view mirrors. There were also scratches on other areas of the car. 5. No wiper wash fluid So I had to spend extra time taking pictures to them send to the email. Then I turn on the wiper washer to try to get the bird poo off, but bc there was no wiper fluid, I couldn't get it ofc bc apparently the poop was so hard, you could tell it was there for a while. As I was about to go back into the airport to complain, I spotted a guy who worked there. I explained what was happening and he told me to follow him. So after spending one hour to takes pics, etc, I now had to follow the guy to take care of the wiper fluid. The kicker is when we get the the light, a train is passing. Not a 5 minute train, like a 15 train passing and all you can do is wait. So that was another hour and 15 minutes of my time. Then another 20 minutes to get to the place where they wash the cars and the guy was able to put on washer fluid and clean the bird poop. Come on Dollar, and whatever else car rental company that is doing this. #1. No one should sign without seeing the car 1st and being with someone to have the car being checked properly. I'm sure this doesn't happen all the time but some people don't check their vehicles when they drive off the lot. But I do. I have been burned by a rental car company even when doing the right thing- (BUDGET)! #2. There needs to be instructions on the paperwork on how to return the vehicle when dropping the car off before 7am. I arrived at the airport before 7am, and after I checked in, I said let me go to the counter bc they open at 7 and see if anyone was there. A guy was there and told me I should've dropped the keys off in a box down by Hertz. Really?! Where are the signs for that? Luckily, the airport is small and I was able to go back to the car and get the keys after I checked in. Written instructions are wonderful! Now if you don't read them that's a you problem, but for a small airport, it should be more simple than that. Do better Dollar @ Augusta. But I really liked my ride though. It must have been my lucky day. I didn't have to wait in line and the lady at the counter was nice. She said a lot of the vehicles in the lot needed to have maintenance done but she still gave a truck (I requested a compact vehicle). I actually had some personal stuff come up that required hauling after I got this vehicle so the truck helped out a lot and it worked out in my favor. She said the truck didn't have any issues but I took pictures of all the dings and scratches. It just worked out for me but if I really wanted a gas saving vehicle, I would have been out of luck. read more

I had a coupon for a free upgrade and was told they didn't have cars available to honor the coupon. The rep mentioned that they had just received several new economy cars which therefore limited their inventory of higher model types. Be aware if you have a coupon and think you might get a deal because there are no deals at this Dollar Car Rental at AGS. Picking up and turning in the car were non-issues. I flew out of AGS early in the day to where the rep wasn't at work yet so was advised to park it, capture mileage, indicate email address, and use their drop box to receive an emailed receipt. No issues. The car itself was brand new and got me from point A to B without issue so I can't complain too much. read more

Four months, 2 cars, 4 staff, 1 manager, 2 dozen phone calls and multiple visits later, I told the Army I will eat the cost of paying for more to go rent somewhere. It is absolutely exhausting to deal with this company. read more

The worst customer service, did not have my economy car would only give me a dodge charger. I could not adjust the car to my body and asked for another car. The reservation lady would only give me that car and said she was all out of economy cars though my government reservation was for an economy car. I have never been treated that rude from a rental car place. read more

Service is appalling. Stay away at all costs. Received some of the worst service I have ever experienced. Employees were rude, inattentive, and seemed to have no knowledge of the store's own policies. Do not use this company. We rented a car from the AGS location, returned it, and received the final invoice. It's safe to assume most rental experiences would end there, not true in this instance. Fraudulent charges continued to appear on our credit card. Believing an innocent error occurred I went to the location in order to resolve the charges. I met with Jennifer who identified herself as the regional manger. She was friendly upon my arrival, but as I described the issue she was very uncooperative and questioned my ability to read final invoices. I'm no stranger to questioning my own intelligence but maintain enough cognitive prowess to identify unnecessary charges on a credit statement - $286.00 worth. The level of assistance continued to decline and obviously we both increased our irritation level with each other. The level of assistance provided was one of the more disappointing engagements I've experienced while trying to resolve an issue with a company. I truly hope the trustworthiness and attitude at this Dollar location does not reflect the company holistically. Eventually, we received confirmation of a needed refund. There are plenty of other rental car companies to consider at AGS, so recommend selecting one of the others to prevent future concerns and frustration levels. read more

I was very concerned about renting from this company after reading reviews, but I did it anyway. The people at Augusta Dollar Car Rental were nice and I did not have any issues. I rented a 2020 F150 initially for just 1 day and then called to extend for a 2nd day without issue. The only thing I would recommend is using a credit card instead of a debit card. For some reason, the process of using a debit card is way longer. All in all, it was not a bad experience. read more

Totally stay away from here. This is a mickey mouse operation. Needed to extend my rental and was told no. I am in FL and called for two day extension. They refused, said I had to return the vehicle to their airport location and swap vehicles! They are not Dollar Car Rental but some local yokel that paid for a licenses. Stay away. What a JOKE!! Why do I have to choose a star??? Rented a truck via Priceline. I get someone to drive me to the airport, only to find out, there is NO truck available and there are THREE people ahead of me. Asked the "employee" (the one that was in the back office with her feet propped up on the desk-I actually think I woke her up ) why she didn't call or text me? She stated "well, I wouldn't want you to NOT show up, and we have a vehicle" HUH?!?!? I had movers in Florida waiting on me to arrive. Luckily ENTERPRISE had a vehicle, but I had to frantically race across town before they closed. They accommodated me by staying 15 minutes past closing time to rent me a vehicle. STAY AWAY !! from the Augusta GA location- they have a practice of adding fraudulent charges to your card after the vehicle is returned. My parents were charged a $250 cigarette and pet cleaning fee but neither one of them smoke nor do they have a pet. They were the only 2 people in the vehicle at any given time. We tried to dispute it with the very inept manage on duty Jennifer but got absolutely nowhere. She claimed to have pictures of the hair and the cigarette stench(not sure how your photograph that) and promised to email them. I'm onto my 3rd vehicle in 2 months. I'm renting through the military for a long tdy and they keep wanting to upgrade me to a F150 or Dodge Ram. Absolutely horrible... I'm military and have had nothing but issues... Stay away.., I rent a vehicle for a multi month and did not receive a discount, after being told I would then 28 days into my rental I had to get back to the shop to renew the contract after being told several different things about where I needed to go to be renewed. I was under the impression that it's 2015 and I could do it over the phone however this was not the case. I was told I had to take it back to Atlanta, and Charlotte, and finally was told I could do it at the Augusta Regional Airport. well this never apparently work because once I was told I was good a week later I received a voicemail from Hans in North Carolina saying he was going to report the car stolen if I didn't return it. so needless to say I return the vehicle and will never rent from them again, and will encourage every military assigned to Fort Gordon on TDY to avoid using thrifty or dollar rental company read more

Renters Beware! I would definitely not recommend this location for renting a vehicle. Very shady billing practices. I travel frequently, rent cars often and this was my first time using Dollar Rent A Car as the particular rate appeared to be a good deal, however, you get what you pay for. I returned the vehicle, which was practically overfilled with gas, less than 5 miles from the drop off at Bush Field airport. There was no attendant in the lot to check vehicle back in, which is not the case with all of the other car rental company's I have dealt with. At the counter inside I was asked if vehicle was full of fuel and stated that it was. A day after getting home I noticed an additional $24.95 charge to my credit from the Bush Field Dollar Rent a Car card and immediately called to inquire about it. I was told that the vehicle was not full of gas and needed 2 additional gallons of gas. I respectfully tried to explain that the vehicle was absolutely full of gas when I dropped it off and that I knew of their $8.00 per gal charge if vehicle was not full (BTW 2 x 8.00 does not equal $24.95). This is when the representative began to talk over me, got brash and accusative that I was lying about filling the vehicle and reminded me that I did not chose their option to have them fill the gas tank upon return of the vehicle. The representative who said they could assist me was absolutely unreceptive to any possibility that the vehicle I returned was full of fuel and, aside from lacking appropriate customer service communication skills, was adamant and determined that I had returned the vehicle with less than a full tank of gas. I asked to speak with someone else but she said there was no one else to speak with and I will be billed for the gas. I can only guess how often this probably happens to other unsuspecting patrons of this particular office. I called what I thought was the Dollar Rent A Car corporate customer service phone number listed their website and ended up speaking with another one of the most unprofessional and rude customer service representatives I've ever dealt with. Within a few minutes of me inquiring about disputing this erroneous charge to my credit card, she got loud, abrasive and then hung up on me. I do understand that there may be patrons who are less than honest when it comes to honoring the terms of rental contracts but I can absolutely assure you that this instance was not one of those cases. This customer service interaction presented a negative and most unpleasant experience and does not bode well for the Thrifty/Dollar Rental Car Company brand.
