The Hertz staff are always friendly and fairly quick but I wish they had true Hertz Gold service where you just walk to the row next to your name and pick a car. Even with the staff being efficient there are sometimes 4 or 5 people in line at the counter.

GSP has a relatively new rental building across the street from the terminal. Upon returning the car, no one was around at 5:00 am so drop off was a little weird just leaving the car without a walkabout. It all went well however when I got a quick email regarding receipt.

He said that since I included my flight information in my reservation, he tracked my flight and waited for me. It was a very basic model and got my son and I from point A to point B safely. Pick up was a breeze. The return was a little tricky. The signage to return the rental car was not very well marked. I actually went into the wrong company's return lane and it was the same for the truck in front of me as well. Once I followed the truck to the right area the drop off went smoothly. I did like that there was no additional fees and Whitney was not pushing additional non sense on me for the rental which was greatly appreciated since it was so early in the morning. The price was great. I ended up maybe putting 30 miles on the car so that was a plus.

After about a half-hour wait at the counter, Avis gave us a low-riding Kia (see image) instead of the reserved SUV (see image). We had to deal with that klutzy vehicle for an entire week! When we arrived, none of the vehicles in that class were available. Instead, we were offered a lower-class vehicle for the same price. We were then sent to another location, only to be told that they did not have parking space for larger vehicles. The customer service was extremely poor, there was no understanding of the situation, and the manager was not available. Despite paying a significant amount of money, we were offered the lowest-class vehicles. We spent nearly three hours at the rental counter trying to resolve the issue. As a result, we had to postpone our trip until the next day. My advice: never pay in advance if getting the vehicle you actually booked is important to you. They were unwilling to offer any reasonable compromise, even though vehicles of the same class were available on the lot. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company.
