My daughter has enjoyed learning gymnastics at NEG. The coaches project a positive and supportive vibe, and are skilled gymnasts in their own right. They offer regular classes for kids with a hobby level of interest, as well as team for the more dedicated kiddos. I've also found it very easy to set up private sessions to work on specific goals my daughter might want more one on one support with. Coach Alden is a personal favorite - he always brings energy, focus, and lots of laughs to his classes. read more

We've had such a great experience with the recreational classes at NEG. I won't speak for the competitive side - it's run by different coaches - but the coaches for rec are so caring. They clearly want kids to not just be able to do skills; they care that they are ENJOYING gymnastics and developing rapport with their classmates. We've tried rec programs at several other gyms and this is where we've seen the most progress and see our child experience the most fun. The front desk staff and the online platform they use for scheduling makes communication easy. I would love to see them offer open gym at a better time for younger kids (ideally a weekend daytime) or at least before 7pm. read more

Amazing gym and coaches! It's so great to see there are still places where people actually care and take pride in their work. I was a gymnast and a judge and this gym teaches correct technique and helps you achieve your goals. Plus gym is huge, allowing space to get enough turns in and decrease likelihood of injuries. We love NEG! My daughter has been going to their tumbling classes a little over a year, and has progressed so much! We have loved working with Coach Johnny and Coach Alden. They are super knowledgeable and great with the kiddos. My only wish is that some of the class sizes were smaller. When my daughter was in beginner tumbling, some classes seemed to be very full which made it hard for her to get the attention needed to help her improve. I believe that NEG is working on hiring/training more coaches to help with this issue. Overall, we have had an amazing experience at NEG and would recommend it to anyone who has a child interested in gymnastics/tumbling. read more

If you are looking for competitive gymnastics, specifically developmental teams( JO teams) .... They have it here... but I would not trust the head coaches/owner to be around my kids. The training environment is horribly negative. The kids leave feeling small because the coaches use put-downs and name calling. The kids are constantly told they are not working hard enough even though they absolutely are. There is a lack of specific direction from the head coaches, but a whole lot of yelling. Coaches will heavily spot skills, and then expect kids to do it by themself with little to no other progressions. Many injuries happen. Kids get burnt out and quit. It makes the sport of gymnastics look bad. It's hard for many parents to know these things because the "team gym" has the doors closed so you cannot hear or see. There is a small, dark viewing room upstairs that looks over the gym through a window so you still cannot hear what is going on. I can't believe this place is still in business. read more

We went there for the first time tonight to watch our 4 year old grand daughter and the place was packed on this Monday afternoon. The place is large with allot of kids in multiple areas. Viewing the kids is limited and it was poor visibility from the chairs provided. Almost zero cell service I guess due to the metal building. The area smelled like sweaty kids. It was cold and raining so maybe not real good circulation. I would hope they clean the different workout stations with all the kids going on the different areas. But I didn't see any cleaning or wiping while we were there. Obviously really popular with aloof kids. Pretty crowed so get in and out as quickly as you child is finished. read more

Do not have your birthday party here. We booked a party here for my daughter and only one of the two coaches showed up and they did not have keys to get in. The party was supposed to start at 3 and we finally gained access about 5 minutes after. The 2nd coach finally showed up about 45 minutes later. Never even introduced herself to us. Just stood there on her phone the majority of the time. I was told that someone would contact me regarding the experience but it is four days later and I've heard nothing. Not surprised. They don't seem very organized or concerned, just happy to take people's money read more

We just finished power tumbling clinic that they advertised would teach your child how to do a back handspring, aerial, and more. Want to give 2.5 stars but can't. I'm waivering be 2-3 stars and keep switching back and forth:/. Now...I know the coach has to assess level of gymnast and if they are ready. HOWEVER, these skill were not worked on nearly as much as the advertisement heavily implied. The aerial was never worked on with anyone. (one girl already knew the skill). They had them practice skills repeatedly that they already knew or if they told them what to do, they gave very little instruction as to how. When they did it incorrectly, very little information, if any, was given on what to change. Therefore, my daughter practiced some skills incorrectly over and over again. Also, the coaches seemed to act indifferent toward children and ignored parents. They should be giving feedback to parents and plenty of encouraging yet constructive feedback to children. They never introduced themselves the first day. I don't remember ever seeing them smile at or act warm toward the kids. They were mildly curt a couple of times. They often seemed bored, even distracted. However, it wasn't a total waste. It was great exercise and my daughter loves gymnastics so she just enjoyed being out there. It was a clean facility. Bottom line, the clinic did not live up to the advertisements on their website which was disappointing. I wasn't the only parent who had some of these opinions. read more

We hosted my daughter's birthday there on 7/9/23 and while the kids had a blast, the overall experience was horrible. I couldn't reach anyone at the gym via phone, social or email for 2 days leading up to the party. No one reached out to me to discuss the setup of the party, which apparently is 15 minutes before the party start time - not nearly enough time for parents to set up a table, cake, food, decor etc. I wasn't even sure if they had our party on their radar still and showed up praying they would arrive. They were there 15 minutes before and the gym was over 80 degrees inside. The owner apparently keeps a code to turn on the AC and he either has to turn it on from his phone or be present to get the AC running. Turning it on at the start of the party at 11am is unacceptable for a party with 30 children + adults in the dead of summer in TX. Everyone was sweating. After I complained with the owner, he was unable to extend the party time due to another party starting right after; he also did not offer to reduce the party cost. I do not recommend hosting your child's party here. Find another gym that has a more responsible staff for peace of mind. read more

My daughter took gymnastic classes from National Elite after having so much fun at the summer camp. Unlike the summer camp, which gave her an intro to the gym, the actual gymnastics class was sad. The teenager who was supposed to be leading everyone seemed to pick the few girls who were already good, and worked a lot with them. All the other girls were given their opportunity to make a poor attempt, get no feedback or encouragement to do better, and get to the end of the line. A few months of tuition later and she hadn't learned pretty much anything. That's when we pulled the plug on it. I guess you have to be ready to put down the real money to have your kid there all the time to get real instruction. read more

We went for a trial class and it was rather disappointing experience. Poor communication and not kid friendly (age 5). Staff failed to communicate that I would not be allowed as the parent to walk my child to a class of which we has never met the instructor or anyone in the class. They expect you to just drop off a 5 year old without any introduction. Not very reasonable and empathetic. read more

We have enjoyed the preschool summer camp the last two summers. Miss Jill is awesome and there's a theme for the day with some fun craft and book. Then the kids get plenty of gym time and some outdoor time at the playground. The kiddos are tired after their fun filled day! Great Gym! Coaches are very talented they get the best out of the girls there. I've had nothing but great experiences with them, and their summer program is great. They teach the kids some gymnastics and take them to the pool every day, they also go on field trips once a week. read more

We have been to birthday parties here and have also had two boys in the Ninja and preschool gymnastics classes for several months. We have been so pleased with the whole experience. The boys love coming to class, they're taking all the appropriate precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy during the pandemic and the owner has been so easy to work with regarding tuition. My 5 year old daughter started at NEG in April and absolutely loves it. She had been asking to start gymnastics for about a year, but I was hesitant as I had no experience with the sport. I finally realized that she was really interested, so we did a free trial class and we were hooked! They have a variety of class types and scheduling options - even a few homeschool class times during the day. We've had a couple different coaches as we've adjusted our schedule, and they have all been great!! read more

We have loved NEG! My son and daughter have both taken (preschool) classes there for over a year and we're all happy with it! The kids are grouped according to age and skill, and the groups are small enough to allow the coaches to really engage and give some individualized attention to each student as they're moving through the classes. The best part for my (high-energy) son has been that even when the kids are waiting their turn for a piece of equipment, the coaches have them rotating through other things to keep them moving and engaged. Awesome gym. My daughter just started here a few months ago and it is such a professional gym. They are very organized and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. She has already learned so much in such a short amount of time. I can already see a huge improvement in her skill level. Classes are small so the students get a lot more attention than in a large class. They also have a Friday Night open gym from 7-9 that is great. Several coaches are there to help out and make sure things do not get chaotic. We are looking forward to all our future classes at NEG. read more

An awesome gym with experienced coaches that know what they're doing. All around an amazing place

This review pertains primarily to summer "sports" camp. I signed my 6-year-old daughter up for what was billed as an active day of sports and recreational activities. The camp day runs from 7:30 - 6:30 potentially, so I wouldn't expect them to be running the kids hard all day. However, what I discovered is that this was not a "sports camp," it was a "child care arrangement." Our experience began when I dropped my daughter off in the rec room a little before 8:00. Most of the children already present were glued to a television set. My mom-sense went "uh-oh." But I figured that it was still the arrival period, so I didn't say anything, even though the website stated that between 7:30-8:00, the children would be doing "recreational games," not watching TV. When my daughter came home after being picked up around 5:30, she told me that she had watched TWO movies that day, one of which had a PG rating (I am cool with PG movies, but feel that a camp should not be making that call for a group of 5-7 year olds). After she described her day, it became clear to me that the only "sports" that went on at NEG camp that day were a short gymnastics period in the morning, and then going to the pool. The rest of the day appeared to be playground time and TV. When I addressed this with the staff, they did not deny that several hours of TV were watched. Their excuse was that they had a coach go home due to a family emergency and did not feel "safe" having the kids on the playground with the caregiver ratio available, so they needed to come inside, and that the kids "voted" to watch a movie. Well, yes. If I asked my kids to vote on what they wanted for breakfast and ice cream was an option, what do you think they would pick?! They are KIDS! Furthermore, the fact that they did not have a backup plan for a coach's absence tells me they are not well-organized, and are cutting it very close with regard to caregiver ratios, which is also a safety and quality concern. I also sensed that the coaches needed to plug in the "electronic babysitter" to maintain control of the group of children when playground time was not an option. Bottom line is that I felt tricked. The NEG website and printed materials describes this camp as active, sporty, and nowhere in their materials is the potential for HOURS of screen time disclosed, with the exception of a lunch time movie on Friday. Given that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that "children and teens should engage with entertainment media for no more than one or two hours per day, and that should be high-quality content," I am disturbed that NEG chose to decide for our family to more than double the recommended amount of screen time without even telling me that was a possibility. My children both took gymnastics at this facility this year and I have a number of similar concerns with that program: poor communication with parents, frequent coach turnover without notice or update (it got to the point where my kids couldn't even keep up with their coaches' names), lack of skill progress evaluations (in over a year, my older daughter received only one eval, and my younger daughter never did, not even a verbal), a generally disorganized and chaotic atmosphere, a bizarre "cash or check only" policy (??) and HEAVY pressure to join the competitive team if your child shows any aptitude whatsoever. One of my older daughter's many coaches even talked with her directly about joining the competitive team without clearing it with me or even advising me, and it took them over a week to return my call about this concern. Bottom line is we will not be returning here, either for camp or for classes. read more

Friendly and well trained staff. They are really engaging, and I have seen progress in my child's gymnastics skills, including flexibility, strength and coordination! Really large facility with state of the art equipment and plenty of parking. There's even a viewing area in the lobby for the parents. My kid loves it here and he can't get enough of this place! I can only speak as a parent who has had birthday parties there. We had one party there and the kids liked it so much that we are about to have another. I wasn't sure what to expect when I drove up but once we were inside, the kids all had a great time. We discovered them when they donated a birthday party to our school's silent auction - which they've done for many years as I understand it. The coaches guided the kids through many activities but also gave them some free time. The location is great for us because we have friends spread through out the Hill Country and in Austin. read more

I don't ever write reviews on here but I had to for National Elite Gymnastics. So after a horrible experience with another gym, I found this gym for my 5 year old. I have been so impressed with the skills taught. My daughter has been in gymnastics for over 2 years and has learned so much in the last few months here. I have enrolled my 3 year old son as well! I travel 40 mins back and forth so my children can get quality training and have a fun time doing it. I can not say enough how happy I am as a parent that I found this gym. Other reviews on here I don't feel give the gym justice, they are first old, and they are before the recreational director that is here now was apart of this gym. Bring your child to a trial the coaches are wonderful! read more

This is the most poorly run facility I have ever seen. I had two girls who were enrolled, and these people couldn't even produce statements or invoices on time and correctly. In addition, after several months neither of the girls improved in their gymnastics ability. Stay far away from this place. If they can't get invoicing right, what else is wrong that we don't see. read more

I am a Mom of former gymnasts. Let me start by saying that competitive gymnastics is not a very nice sport. I feel like NEG fits right in with that description. The coaches (optional) are not nice, not to the girls or the parents. Don't question anything they do or say, just pay your money and be quiet. Those girls that are still at that gym are afraid of saying anything because you will be shown the door. They run off girls and parents so the cost for my girl to compete just got higher and higher. No regard for parents at this gym. I'm sorry to say but this place is a grind house and I wish I had left much sooner...but my girls loved gymnastics so I just stayed and took the treatment. Now they just hate the idea of gymnastics and one was a state champion. It's a super competitive gym so they have tons of winners. Just know before you go...it's a very tough gym to have your kids in. read more

NEG has been a great experience for my young daughters. We have gone to the afternoon classes and the coaches are great! They have really learned such great gymnastics skills and their overall strength has really improved. They work on balance and coordination, as well as tumbling and learning to do a cartwheel. They have learned a lot more skills than at previous gymnastics places. Very happy! read more

Our kids have been going here for 3 years now and we've done regular classes, after school and Mother's Morning Out. Our daughters love it and have said they like it better than Star Center, which was there previous gymnastics place because the staff is friendlier, great support and the facility is bigger and more updated. We selected NEG for our daughter's birthday party based on a recommendation and it was wonderful, we had two coaches helping with the party and a lovely party space with ample room for celebrations and fun with friends. I do not think this is a good Summer camp for those who do not take classes at NEG on a regular basis. My daughter took a Summer camp and did not enjoy it as she felt left out and did not feel like the "coaches" were helpful. She even asked not to go the last two days. There were no introductions, no real instruction when it came time to do gymnastics, and any issue that was brought to their attention was met with "work it out". It does not seem like a hands-on camp for a fun way to try something new, more of a hang out and do your own thing camp. Not recommended for looking for anything other than a place to take your kids for a full day. read more

We had an average experience with the preschool class. While the coaches were nice and polite, they weren't great at engaging the kids in activities. Given the cost of these classes, I expected a proactive approach to coaching - more hands on demonstration, encouragement, etc. Additionally, the parent/viewing area is very small and can quickly become overrun with parents and siblings who are not being monitored. Ultimately, we stopped classes and found another sports class with a smaller ratio, bigger facility and more focused coaching. read more

My daughter has been at NEG for 2 years now and I cannot say enough about them. We have tried 2 other popular gyms in Austin and this one is by far the best. Their instructors are well-trained and well-liked, Carrie at the front desk KNOWS EVERYTHING and is so helpful and organized. They are extremely flexible with schedules, especially in the summer and don't nickle and dime you. They have 2 gyms in one location: one gym is for recreational classes and the other is for the team. You can stay in rec classes or you can be evaluated by a team coach at any time to see if you'd be ready to join the team (and what level of team you are ready for). You can't beat the prices, either. Very fair, especially considering the quality of instruction. read more

My daughter goes here going on 2 years in December, we love taking her and seeing her do so well. I like that the gym is a parent free zone and its clear and gets the kids to have to cut the string from being able to be in parents lap. Sure coaches change schedules and there has been some turnover, but when we started to take our daughter 3 times a week and requested to have the same coach for all sessions they completely understood and helped us schedule that. We started her out at Olympic Hills first and I thought it was terrible, only two instructors no direction. If someone is having a bad day and lets the kids do the moonwalk for 30 mins the other instructor wouldnt say anything. NEG was totally different with so many kids and instructors all the classes are doing gymnastics and rotating through the many stations. I loved the December Recital and even teared up my little baby received her first trophy. We love NEG! read more

My daughter took gymnastics for several months and didn't learn anything. Coach never spoke to me and didn't work with the kids. Staff is unfriendly, the classes are overbooked, and seating and parking is a nightmare. My daughter was squeezed into what little room could be found in the gym because of the many other classes going on. There may be 2 good coaches but that's it. I would think twice before enrolling at NEG. read more

Just finished our girls' birthday party here and boy, were we impressed. We had the facility to ourselves (on a Saturday!). It is so spacious that children and adults alike had plenty of room to do their thing and hang out. It was quiet, unlike the bouncy houses that have to have those giant fans blowing constantly. And I can't say enough about the two women who led the children and cleaned up afterwards. They were incredible at enforcing safety rules but not alienating the kids. They had two age groups to work with, under 3 and around 6, which isn't easy, but they handled both ages perfectly. They were kind enough to ask if the party area was ready before they unleashed the children for cake. And they cleaned everything, including packing up the presents and the cake! So nice, so professional, and both had great senses of humor. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience we had here. read more
