One of them was never worn and had demi-diamonds in white gold. Perfect condition. The other was a white gold band. Good condition. So I figured I'd get some good money for them. I guess one of my rings had a mix of platinum which they don't take and the diamond ring would have got me a whopping $18. They go off of weight and it was very light I suppose. The woman I worked with was very nice about it and even tried to get me 10% more, but to me, 18 bucks for a ring worth at least 500 or 600 is a NO DEAL. I asked for advice of where I could get more and she offered The Wedding Ring Shop or selling online. The second time I went here was to turn in some gift cards for cash. I had 2 Ala Moana gift cards and 1 Amazon. The same woman was there from the last time. Right off the back, she told me they don't do Ala Moana gift cards -______- And my $25 Amazon would be cut in half because they take 50%! Didn't know that! So again, NO DEAL. I know it's not the company's fault and they couldn't help me, but I was just extremely bummed about not being able to sell them anything because I really needed the money. The good things though were that I never felt pressured and the woman was really sweet.

However after leaving we were called and told that the delivery would take as long as 4 months. I called and requested that they refund 70% of the purchase price as a 30% deposit would be sufficient. The salesman, David, was very kind and understanding, but said the decision would have to come from the owner. The owner called me the next day, and I explained that the quoted time frame was changed and that there was no need to hold all the funds for 4 months, she said NO. After going back and forth she agreed to a refund, but said that I would be charged 3%. After more BS I said forget it, and called my credit card for a refund (which they obliged given that there was no delivery of the jewelry, and wouldn't be any for months). The lack of perspective and horrible customer service received by the owner tells me all I need to know about this business, which is to stay away. Her attitude, and constant sell sell sell at all cost attitude not only cost her a sale, but also a great customer. How you treat your customers is important, and looking at their horrible YELP reviews, I feel that I dodged a bullet. So why 2 stars instead on 1, because the salesman was kind, courteous and respectful. They should take a lesson from hin on how to treat customers, better yet they should let him run the business!

Incredibly helpful, local family-owned company. Worth the cost. Since our engagement, I had dreamed of an heirloom design but with a personal twist (a flower from his home country). I searched on insta and etsy and was told it was either impossible to personalize or quoted HUGE fees. We even went to a number of big-name companies in Ala Moana and other locations and were told repeatedly it wasn't possible. When we finally went into Gold Mart, it was with the intention to settle. Thank god, we mentioned this to Lily who IMMEDIATELY stated, "We can do that!" She showed us a number of options, but we never felt pressured to buy. In fact, she encouraged us to go have dinner and then come back. Each time we met with one of this family owned company (4 times in person, 1 over the phone) we were given helpful advice that was never pushy or demanding. My SO even felt that we could have backed out at the last minute, because this family wanted us to be happy with our purchase more than making a purchase. When we finally received our rings, we ended up with hugs from Lily because we were so happy with the design and she was happy for us. This is a family company that's been here since I was a kid. Don't expect perfection, but come for the Aloha and the care for your interests.

I didn't look at the receipt until a couple of days later and found that the $5 exchange fee was charged to me on both transactions. I called them and the guy who answered told me they don't waive fees and doesn't know why the gal who helped me said that. Hmmm.. I don't know why either. But in the off chance the currency you need isn't up on the board, feel free to ask. They may have what you're looking for.

My first thought was to go to our regular bank, but after briefly thinking about it, I recalled how complicated things can become just to try to use their notary services. Upon checking, I confirmed that even for existing customers, buying a foreign currency may take several business days. Customers must visit a branch and "reserve" yen in advance, with the rate being determined on the day of reservation, and this service may not be available at all branches. I searched for a foreign currency exchange service and Currency Exchange International (CXI) stood out by being conveniently located in the International Market Place in Waikiki. We arrived at the Market Place just before 11 am, and having read a recent review placing them between Macy's and Pieology, I figured that Macy's would be easier to locate than the currency exchange. That's what threw off our search. There didn't appear to be an entrance to Macy's from where we were, so we had to go out to Kalakaua Ave. to reach Macy's, and the exchange was nowhere in sight. I did try to call the number but no one answered, understandable if the only person there was assisting customers. We went back into the Market Place and finally found it near the "Customer Service" sign and next to the escalator, and realized we had passed it before in our search for Macy's. When we reached the window, the gentleman was assisting a couple. I gathered they were purchasing currency by card, and that they were being asked to produce ID. After they received their currency and left, we were next, and I noticed someone else waiting behind us. At the window, I announced that I wanted to purchase Japanese yen and gave him the amount. He asked how I was going to pay, and I said "cash," and it seemed to be a straightforward process from there. He quoted the exchange rate he would be using, how much he would charge me for the currency, and the $5.00 exchange fee. I handed him the cash, and he passed back the Japanese yen and the receipt. Everything was smoothly executed. Later I had time to analyze precisely how the exchange worked. We were openly quoted an exchange rate, and by accepting, we agreed to it. The receipt had this disclaimer: "The exchange rate used for this transaction may vary from other exchange rates in existence globally." Using a rate which is slightly advantageous to the exchange and adding the exchange fee is how the business makes a profit. After comparing against other published rates, my feeling is that this was all worth it, given that we didn't need to make an appointment at a bank, for instance, and wait for them to obtain the currency. What might have taken days and involved an inconvenient location elsewhere was accomplished in a few minutes by going to CXI and paying cash.

Traveling shopaholic…read more.. Always in need of some currency exchange that got me intrigued when I noticed this Ala Moana Center location on the Street Level right behind Centerstage. It's obvious what it is and understand it's the convenient mall location and I've been watching the numbers dip high and low and have asked if they sell a specific currency which they do and is so nice to know though noticed that they do charge a huge fee of $8.99 regardless of the amount that you're purchasing which can be reasonable if you're getting a large amount though reading further that they may need your personal information as well discouraged me quite a bit. They don't post the numbers so you just need to ask the staff which is very quick and easy but gonna check around further as this is not my thing. Thank you!

Before signing anything I highly recommend to read through the contract carefully and know what you're getting yourself into as they won't go through it with you verbally or mention in person that there will be a 5% charge on whatever you get approved for. Our fault on not being thorough but we'll take it as a lesson learned. They also have a clause that every week the invoice isn't paid, there is an additional 10% charge which to me seems like collecting the invoice may have been an issue in the past (maybe... I don't know, not being clear on the charge?). They LITERALLY just help you sign up for a business credit card and eat 5% of whatever amount you get approved for. Which FYI, had we were more aware of the charge we would have just said no, we already have a business credit card that we did online ON OUR OWN in a matter of MINUTES. Why would we pay someone to do something we did ourselves already? Our credit scores are 700+ so maybe they would be of more help to someone who has trouble securing lines of credit. Also, their advice to do a cash advance on the credit card regardless of the one year no interest just isn't a smart move to start your business on. Look else where for help, not here. Edit: They gave us a discount on the 5% charge since there was a miscommunication and they don't want bad business vibes but still paying $600+ to do something you can do on your own at a faster pace and the convenience of your own phone/computer seems ridiculous.
