We were excited to have this company transform our lawn. Who doesn't like a beautiful green lawn? We signed the contract for our front and left side yard (the right side has all beddings) and paid in full. They came out for the first service and we immediately had issues. They were leaving without servicing the left side yard. The workers said it was not in the contract. We had to have them call the office to verify. Then, they did service the side yard. This happened a second time too (and a third see below). We had to tell them the side yard was included in the contract. On two other occasions, they were to come out and both times did not show and did not come out until we called them to ask when they would be coming. The third issue was that they had not performed one task that was in their literature as a treatment service. They said it is optional (at their discretion) and not in the contract. Why is it in the literature and then not covered in the contract? Not all service items were written out in the contract; the contract is only one page and very succinct. The literature was part of the sales pitch and given to us. After pursuing the issue, they did come out and do the work, but it was so late in the season it was not effective. We had yet a fourth difficulty. We had had enough. (Lawn servicing should not be taking up so much time and energy.) The fourth item that finally got us upset enough to complain to the front office was the fact that their chemicals killed some well established ornamental plants in between some stepping stones (not a very large area at the perimeter of the yard). (These plants had also migrated into the yard and they were killed, which was not a problem with us.) We had called the owner and he insisted that the chemicals they used would not kill these plants. We called a very well known and respected local nursery, however, and they verified that crab grass killer (which was used on our yard) would kill these plants. We have these well established plants in two other locations in our back yard where the yard was not treated by this company and they are still alive and doing well. The only variable is this lawn service. We decided to call the front office and read the riot act to the office manager because this was just too much. The office manager said all the right things. She said the owner would make it right. Nonetheless, the Owner, Clinton, has refused on two separate occasions to even offer some sort of remedy/compensation for this issue. We paid in full up front to get a discount. This may account for the poor treatment we received throughout the season, as they are not concerned with payment. Yep, we had a fifth issue. On the call about the dead plants, we were told we had two more services due. We called back about three weeks later to see when they were coming for our first of two remaining service calls, we were then told we only had one service left! We still had not received our supposed one remaining service when we got our Service Agreement renewal letter that had to be signed before the next month. I called the office and asked when we were going to receive our remaining service as their renewal agreement said we only had a month left to renew or service would be interrupted. Interesting, the next day we got a call to do the remaining service treatment. Guess what? They did not do the side yard!! In summary, the side yard looks worse than it did when we contracted with them and a lot of the area is completely bare now. read more

We used this company for several years and the lawn looked fine overall. We questioned a strange patch of growth that kept getting larger. Someone named Fred came out to look at it. It was determined that it was a "grassy weed" and not covered by their contract but they'd be happy to take care of it for $200 something. When I asked why the guys who do the lawn care didn't point it out earlier when it was smaller, he said they aren't trained to look for such things. Really??? There is also never any notification as to when they will be at your address. A neighbor's grass wasn't deemed to be short enough for the service they were doing that day, so they left a note that they just didn't do it. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I stumbled upon Barbara H.'s review while searching for another service recommendation. Surprised at her somewhat negative endorsement, I am compelled to respond. I would encourage YELP readers to take advantage of National Turf as "the final solution" to the lawn chemistry that may have frustrated their earlier attempts to create a beautiful lawn. After multiple hirings and firings of several of the heavily advertised lawn services, I asked my neighbor of 25 years who he used to produce the green carpet that is the footprint of his property. Without hesitation he recommended National Turf. After 23 years of loyal service from this well run organization, I can't speak highly enough of National Turf. I encourage anyone driving through the Dunleigh subdivision to view my lawn as proof of the pudding. In the mid '90s my primary concern was eliminating the dandelion population that National Turf's competitors could not control. After one season -- problem eliminated! Since then, you can count the number of "volunteer" dandelions that creep in every spring on one hand. Our HOA awarded me "Best Lawn" so many times that I am now excluded from competing anymore, and the trophy has been retired -- all due to National Turf. By the way, I simply asked Fred ONE time several years ago to ring me up prior to an application so that I might prepare for his technicians. Since then, he has never failed to give me advance warning or to modify his schedule to my needs. I am having the same issue with patches of bare spots that have progressively gotten worse over the past three years I have contracted with them despite paying an extra amount each month for 'extra' service that I was told would remedy my situation. Fred came out twice over the past three years and looked at the yard. I have also sent pictures of the areas of concern, but my yard looks worse now than ever. Am so disappointed. Have contacted other lawn care companies who work with my neighbors' yards; the appearance of their lawn puts mine to shame and I am paying more than they do. If this company can rectify my issues, I will be more than happy to review again with a more positive review. For now, I cannot recommend them to anyone and am going to try to cancel my contract...or definitely switch to someone else next year. read more

I have been using National Turf Service for over 35 years. They have been wonderful to work with. They provide a complete lawn service. I only have to mow and water the lawn. In the fall they aerate the lawn and seed. In the spring they will seed any bare spots I may have. They provide weed, grab grass and insect control. They include a lime application. They also provide multiple applications of fertilizer to provide a rich and green lawn. Mr. Quinn, Fred and Cynthia are great to work with. Cynthia calls before they service the lawn so that I can cut the grass. If I have a problem with the lawn they come out asap to treat the problem. I highly recommend National Turf. read more
