    Stale pita bread gyro
    William M.

ordered a Beef Gyro with their white sauce packet, delivered by DoorDash. The GYRO was one of the worst I've ever had. The meat was very little seasoned, and the Pita Bread was so stale, it literally crumbled to pieces while eating it. White sauce was not good at all either.

I'm from New York and have been living here for a few years. This Tustin location is by far the best, even better than the one in Costa Mesa. The service is very accommodating, and the food quality and portions remind me of the East Coast. The dining area is clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

I always order the regular platter (half gyro/half chicken) with extra tomatoes and lettuce. There's never enough pita bread, so I also added on extra pita bread. My kids love their pita bread and fries. We also got the seasoned waffle fries. It's only available for a limited time, so I had to order it. It is super crispy and drenched with oil. Save your calories and skip them.

Halal Guys is in the District between Whole Foods and In N Out. I had the Beef Gyro with a smear of hummus (for $1 more) and spent roughly $15 out the door. The bread is very thick and doughy -- I assumed there'd by some crispness to it, but there's not. You can customize your wrap and once fully assembled, it looked amazing, but ultimately tasted like bread and hot sauce. While there was a large serving of meat, it was very under-seasoned and lacked the meaty flavor I expected. Sadness. There's really not much else to say... Halal Guys is the Middle Eastern equivalent of Subway -- quick, edible, and filling, but not enjoyable and not worth recommending.

First tries this in NYC and loved it! So happy to have a location near me. It's not quite the same as when eating on the streets of NYC but it's still quite delicious and brings back memories of my trips. I always get the platters with gyro and chicken and I put everything on it...including lots of hot sauce! Even the server looked worried about how much hot sauce I put on but I can totally handle it and probably can put more! Friendly and fast service, lots of seating available and refillable soft drinks. Get the app for special promotions and rewards.

We were nearby for Ian's entertainment and stopped by at Halal Guys for a late lunch. Mrs. and Ian opted for Beef Gyro Platter and I availed myself to their chicken offering. Employees were generous with their portions. Taste is the same as the other Halal Guys locations. Food is fresh and tasty. Their sauce is to die for! Baklava Cheesecake was unique. I dig!!!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 Approx. 1PM When I lived in NYC and had to work late into the night, I survived on gyro platters from The Halal Guys stand on Avenue of the Americas. Even at 11PM at night, you typically had to stand in line for half an hour to get your food. It was THAT good. Now regarding the location in Tustin: PROS: - Flavor essentially the same as NYC. (But not the pita bread.) - Great location CONS: - Paid almost $18.00 for a "Small" platter. Back when I lived in NYC, a LARGE platter cost $8.00 - They went skimpy on the meat. The Halal Guys in NYC NEVER WENT SKIMPY ON THE MEAT volume. This is part of what made The Halal Guys so great in NYC. - The pita served w/the platters in NYC had that home-baked flavor, like it was made that afternoon somewhere in Brooklyn. The pita here looks and tastes like it came out of some machine. If you're got a craving for Halal food and have $20.00 to blow on a small, but flavorful meal in this era of inflation, come here. Otherwise, the best bang for your buck is the original Halal Guys food carts in NYC.

Half beef gyro, half chicken with white sauce. Side of hummus and pita chips

I first tried Halal Guys at the original food truck in New York so I was pleasantly surprised to find one here. The food is good, a nice kick of flavors and can't go wrong with the white sauce! I got half gyro and half chicken, and the meat was slightly on the saltier side today. I've been here previously and it was good, so maybe it's just how they made it today. I also got a side of hummus which comes with either pita bread or pita chips. Again, there food is a good standard if you want to try them out. Nothing too spectacular but still hits the spot! The service was quick, and there's seating both indoors and outdoors.

I always stop by Halal Guys whenever I'm at the District. It's quick and easy to order since it's assembly line style. I got the large combo bowl and I love how much food they give, I always have leftovers so it's always 2-3 meals for me. There's lots of table seating inside, but I got my food to go. I also got a lychee iced tea, but was a little disappointed because you could hardly taste the lychee flavor. I've had this drink here before and it usually tastes really good, but I got a bad batch this time. The rest of the food was really good and I love how they add as much sauce as you want.

I love that there is a halal guys within driving distance for me. They need more locations in socal! My favorite is the regular platter with half chicken and half beef gyro. Tons of white sauce and a line of red is the secret! Highly recommend and will always be coming back

Is it possible to have the hot items (meat/rice) in one container and the cold items (lettuce, tomatoes, onions etc..) in a separate container for togo orders? this way I can reheat the hot items later on and not have mushy veggies.

Yes, once you placed the order just call the store and we will help you with that :)

Why is this location temporarily closed?

They have to sanitize this location. They stated it may take a week from last Friday.

If I order online through the app, is the sauce on the side? I see no option in the app?

Yes sauce is on the side.

Do you guys cater? What's the pricing like?

Having…read moreeaten at hundreds of Lebanese restaurants across multiple states--and traveling back to Beirut once a year--I have a very high bar for authenticity. My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!

From the two, the gully smash was our favorite--it's like a classic smash burger but the addition of pastrami enhanced it! The Bhangra smash was definitely different than any burger I've had before but you can definitely tell the south Asian influences in this one. The burgers were both enjoyable, however, they were on the oily side and felt a bit heavy. I'd say prices here were also pretty steep for what you're getting. I'd say that this is a great option for halal burgers, but I think if you're not restricted to eating halal meat, there are burger options that I like more. The restaurant itself is in a food court that has a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). Overall (1/5) This was easily my worst Halal Guys experience…read moreand honestly left me really disappointed. I came craving something familiar and left feeling like I wasted both time and money. First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.
