I love the location and size of this place! It is small but packs a lot of essentials into it. I usually just come here for vitamins and supplements. Every single time I'm here there has been someone to help me find the specific one I'm looking for or they take the time to explain certain ones that they recommend if I'm unsure. Y'know, every time I come to this store it's some bullshit either from the customers or the management. The staff is largely great, I agree with the mission, I even bite the bullet on the high prices, but it's just not worth interacting with the customers & the management in the store. First off (& I know this isn't the stores fault, but just a fun sample of the customer base you get to interact with) I popped in on the way home from a hike with our dog to grab cookies, I was in the store less than 8 minutes, (which I know because I was trying to make it home by 3:00 & was checking the time obsessively) & the windows were down on a mild day. I came out of the store to meet an insane woman screaming at me about the dog & on the phone with the police. Next time I visited the store the management purposefully ignored me when I had a question & instead served multiple other customers instead. Management was also incredibly rude when I needed to return an expired item, & only shut down their attitude when they noticed the frosting was 3 months expired & I bought it the day before. Today, not only did management ignore me standing next in line to open a lane for the woman behind me, again ignoring the only nonwhite person in the store, she then was extremely condescending. I asked if I could return an item, the employee said that they're a final sale, but she'd ask the manager because I was just there less than 30 minutes before. I didn't even ask to speak to the manager, it was volunteered for me! The manager said the return policy is posted, it's a sanitary issue as she looked me up & down, & then said especially that I'd ADMITTED trying on the bra I was trying to return she wasn't going to do it. Look, I understand a return policy like that on this stuff, I get that some things aren't refundable, & I didn't know that when I checked out or I wouldn't have tried. If I was just TOLD that instead of spoken to like I'm filthy for & being honest & transparent I wouldn't be writing this. This is the last straw. The store operates under the pretense of being accepting & accommodating to a diverse customer base but honestly I never feel more judged in a store than I do when shopping here. I strongly suspect the management dislikes nonwhite shoppers & I'm over assuming the best of people at this location. I'll be driving 20 minutes away to shop at a different location until they deal with their rude management staff. I feel bad for the employees working here, who are always lovely & helpful, but God help you if you have to ask a manager a question or bump into a fellow shopper. read more

This is our go-to grocery store and they usually have a greeter to welcome customers and remind them of their COVID policies but today there wasn't a greeter and there were at least two customers in the store not wearing masks - one was thoroughly browsing and sorting through the produce section with their bare hands. We alerted 2 staff members, who told us that they had confronted the customers but the customers still refused to wear masks, and there's nothing more that they can do. This wasn't the first time- we frequently saw a man at the store with his mask positioned below his chin even while checking out in front of a cashier, and one of the greeters only wears a face shield (no mask) which her breath can easily travel around. It's a shame that the store is prioritizing these customers during a pandemic over the safety of the rest of the customers. We left and took our business to another grocery store nearby. read more

Natural Grocers is a convenient place to find organic and cleaner products. It's not as nice as Whole Foods, but they stock about the same things. I think it's slightly cheaper that WF. The vibe is more of a hipster/hippie-ish feel and not as fun as WF. Unlike WF, all the produce is 100% organic and locally grown so out-of-season items may not be available. If shopping here make sure to bring your own bags! They don't provide paper or plastic bags! Learned that the hard way during my first visit here. read more

I'm glad that this store opened in our area. I've frequented this store at various locations for over 15 years and really enjoy their model. Besides the location, it is just like the other stores, though this one is a bit on the smaller size. I have used their mark-down section quite a bit...always nice to find a great price on a high quality product. I personally stay away from soy products as well as grossly overpriced items (which is why I buy mainly seasonal produce), but I like that they lay have organic produce. read more

Beware shopping at Natural Grocers. On 04-23, my partner and I attempted to return two defective products, 1-GT Daves GTS Coco-yogurt and 1-Doctor Hummus Classic Hummus because both had mold inside the containers. The store manager, S. Taffener (Chandler, AZ) refused to accept a return for refund or exchange, citing COVID as the reason. (Note--all items were within the listed expiration dates.) Talk about nonsense as COVID has no bearing on returning a defective product that can't be used nor resold to other customers. We are now shopping at WholeFoods, despite the global actions of Bezos, because they will accept returns on defective items with no questions asked. We've told our colleagues to avoid Natural Grocers and we are now telling our patients to avoid them too. We've sent dozens of patients to Natural Grocers in the past but never again. Too bad that large growth corporate mentality has infected that chain and they are no longer reputable. Avoid that chain like the plague. Shop organics elsewhere! read more

One of my favorite Natural Grocers stores. Great selection of beautiful organic produce and great service. I was there a couple days ago and accidently dropped a glass bottle of tea. The man in the vegetable section kindly cleaned it up and the cashier had me get another bottle at no extra cost. I was so relieved that they treated my mistake with such grace. I stopped by here to get something that was on sale. They opened up a register to check me out, since a slight line was forming and the person ahead of me already had their items on the belt. The cashier was nice and managed to find a small box which fit all my items perfectly. This location is a bit of a pain to get to, but it's nice and new and I wouldn't mind stopping by here again in the future. read more

This Vitamin cottage has the best music of any store in the little chain, every time I'm there! I appreciate that. Also the vibe is good here and not revved up like certain other stores like whole foods and sprouts. It's nice to know I can trust the veggies and fruit and don't have to wonder about cross contamination from conventional produce. This may be my favorite store in the region! P.S. No pun intended here, but it has a more natural feel. They also have a nice supplement selection similar to Whole Foods. i was shopping at Natural Grocers in Golden this morning. I have bought hair conditioner from clearance rack. When i came home and unpacked the groceries, i have noticed that on the bottle with hair conditioner was written- for oily hair...I did not have glasses with me, so i thought it said for all hair . And no one in my family or friends have oily hair. I went back to store right away to return it or exchange for different one. But there were all bottles the same for oily hair.To my big surprise and disappointment, the lady at register have told me, that they can not take it back, because the manufacturer is out of business. So i left the bottle wit hair conditioner on the counter and left. Wow... I have never was in situation when you can not return items to a store where it was bought. It did not cost too much, only about $3. If Natural Grocers are so eager to loose a customer for $3 ... then what does it says about their customer service. I will never go to Natural Grocers again. read more

This store is very clean and has the friendliest staff. Charles helped me find the enzymes I was looking for. He was quite knowledgable on the subject and when he didn't know the answer to one of my questions he went and looked it up for me. He also found a coupon for me. Great experience over all.
