Through Covid 19 shutdowns and Natural Grocers, I have lost almost 50 lbs. Like the selection at Natural Grocers but sometimes they have problems getting in stock. I don't blame management or staff for this but not being able to get my dairy free sugar free ice cream can be a real buzz kill. Natural Grocers, oh what a weird, weird grocery store you are. you have 10 aisles of food, and 37 aisles of supplements. you don't have bags for your customers to take away their purchases, but you do have a haphazard wall of mismatched stray boxes lined up for newbies like me too uncool to bring their own burlap sack to your Portlandia-esque paradise. and when i ask for said bag, i get attitude like i asked to steal food from the unhoused. we walked the entire store and here is what we found: --the produce was very hit or miss. the peppers all looked sad and wilted (keep in mind everything here is a premium price) -- the radishes looked great. --the prepackaged foods, frozen and dairy sections were similar in size and scope to an AJ's, Bristol Farms, or other smallish boutique grocery stores with little selection and faberge egg cavaier prices. --there is a nebulous "Community Room" towards the back with tables and chairs and not much else. --there are so many aisles of supplements they can't afford power to illuminate them all (that is, some of the aisles in this section were dark, shrug emoji). upon check-out, the Prius-driving (i'm guessing) register jockey gave us just the right amount of vegan-ish attitude as he harrumphed and found an Amazon Prime box for our groceries so we can leave the store with a scarlet letter on our chests. the people in front of us spent $210 on their haul btw (yikes!). we left with an assortment of pickles, chips and a few other things we needed for our trip. would we ever go back? not unless it was the only food option in Prescott. otherwise, there is nothing in this store that would make us return. raise this place and put in a Whole Foods, please!!! read more

We've been doing our organic shopping here for two years and the fruits and veggies are not fresh. Celery tomatoes lemons limes even radishes were soft after two days. Since this hasn't improved we will be shopping for our fruits and vegetables online. Can't believe that the only place to buy organic things is slipping. I expect this from a big corporate stores to do this and the prices are so high! Hope for the best and settle for the worst. read more

This is the best Natural Grocers, they have a huge variety of organic produce including unusual items and everything is fresh and very well priced. The prepared section, though small has a very interesting selection of hummus, dips and other ready to eat items plus many choices for teas, pressed juices and kombucha for a quick lunch. Overall, the selection in every department is much better than at any of the Phoenix area stores or Flagstaff. The checkout associate was great, she carefully placed delicate produce like nectarines and tomatoes in my bags and kept the frozen and cold items together. read more

I have always appreciated the food variety NG brings to town & have been a customer since they opened in 2012. In a recent visit, I had a produce question & a female employee responded by loosing her temper & yelled at me in front of other customers & store employees. I froze. I was unpreparred for what happened, it was totally unexpected. I waited a few days for my emotions to settle before emailing management what I experienced. I was kind in the letter, very as a matter of fact. After a week of no response, I sent the email to corporate. They informed me that it is not NG policy to respond to customer emails. The experience left me feeling violated & disrespected as a customer & as a human being. I get that the actions of others have nothing to do with me. I would have appreciated some closure & communication as a sign of respect & consideration. I have been involved in corporate & private customer service & human relations for 23yrs. Absorbing what happened & how it was left unaddressed is a symbol of the emotional disregard & low level of values & standards the Prescott store has towards it's customers. read more

This store has a great selection and variety of truly "healthy" foods. But MAN are the employees rude. My interactions with two female employees were so bad I will try to come here only when absolutely needed. I had my three children with me, and one employee seemed so annoyed that I ask her any question I was just shocked. Probably the worst shopping experience I've had ever. Not customer friendly! It's really been becoming more apparent to me lately, that since the demise of both Whole Foods and New Frontiers and the competition is gone, there seems to be a general apathy from store personel toward customers. Today it was SO noticeable, that I felt it was time to say something. The produce guy is always pleasant, but overall my contacts with other staff there have ranged from irritability, dismissiveness, or flat out rudeness toward me. This is just not acceptable! Since Co-vid 19 we've been ordering our groceries from instant cart. We usually put in a weekly delivery of fresh produce from Natural Grocers. This is the third time we've received nasty lettuce from here. NG charges a premium for their produce and groceries. One freaking tomato is $4. They should not even put this squamous lettuce out. I came in to Natural Grocers with a list of items from my Dr. Not knowing exactly what I was looking for, I asked for help. The first person I came to was busy building a display, and said she was not familiar with what I was looking for, so she found someone else to help me. After helping me with the first 3 items, the second associate was on her way to item #4 when she said that my list was long so she was going to help another customer who looked like she had a question, then she pointed to an area where I might find #4, which I did, leaving one item on my list. I'm pretty sure I'm the only customer in this scenario that asked for help, I did not hear the other customer ask for help, not sure why she put me on hold while she waited on a customer that looked like she had a question, but it sure felt like I took the backseat to a first class citizen who gets served first. The lady either had a list like I did, or had a lot of questions , I don't know, but it took too long. I got tired of waiting, and to be perfectly honest, I was offended as hell, and did not want her help at that point.The customer who didn't ask for help got taken care of and got on with her day and I was still waiting for SOMEONE to help me. After she finished helping her customer, she found me and repeated that I had a long list. SO WHAT IF I HAD A LONG LIST!!! I brought my business to you!!! She did help me find the last item. The cashier gave superior customer service, the one nice person that I came in contact while shopping there. I left Natural Grocer not having had an uplifting shopping experience, instead I walked away having been treated like I was a second class citizen and that the associate was put off by me being there. This used to be one of my favorite places to shop. I don't think I'm going back for another dose of abuse, and I certainly don't want to walk in there with a list or question. I love Natural Grocers but, it was premature of me to criticize Fry's. Fry's has done a wonderful job of protecting the public especially with covid cases skyrocketing. Many people have died just this week alone 11/6/2020. It's such a sad situation. Fry's is going above and beyond to protect shoppers. I shop there most of the time because they bring my groceries to me in the parking lot. Being an older lady with health problems, my doctors have warned me to not enter any buildings. Fry's solves that issue for me. Fry's and Natural Grocers are wonderful! read more

After years and thousands of dollars spent in this store, I'm switching my allegiance to Sprouts. I just returned home after trying to return a product I had never tried before, a NGVC brand chewable B12, which was the nastiest tasting chewable supplement I have ever tried! The manager on duty informed me they cannot do a return/refund on a product because of how it tastes! It tasted like chemical solvent. I thought they would back up their products but no, that is evidently not the case. This is the second time they refused to do the right thing. It is a bit farther to Sprouts, but I will make the trip. read more

Thank you Natural Grocers for bringing your business to Prescott. There are a lot of folks that are growing in interest and concern about our food sources and learning to eat a healthier diet. I decided I would rather spend a little more on quality food than spend it on hospital bills down the road. Thanks to you guys we have one more place to shop around and also provide some local competition to keep prices more affordable. I have been in this store several times to shop. The prices seem to be competitive. It is a bit on the small side regarding the produce, bread and meat departments. But still there is a great selection of foods and products for the health conscious consumer. You will also be treated kindly by the friendly, helpful staff. Oh yeah, bring your own shopping bags or you will be bringing home your groceries in a cardboard box. Go in here and buy the Double Rainbow Organic ice cream. Although this is not one of my favorite stores, I still shop there out of convenience. Plus they are the only store in Prescott that sells my favorite organic soda. Twice I have had a rude cashier. Most of the time, they are polite. Twice I have found outdated dairy products (cottage cheese and smoothies). I had been ordering cases of canned cat food there, as they are the only local store that sells the only grain free cat food my cats would eat. However, I have had to make my cats eat different food, due to poor customer service at Natural Grocers. Back in January, I had ordered 2 cases of the cat food. It usually comes in on Wednesday, but you can't pick it up til Friday or Saturday. So, the following week they still hadn't called me to say my order was in. So, I stopped in and asked for it. The guy looked in back and said it wasn't there. So I go to the checkout and explain to the cashier and she wrote down my order for one case. Then she says "don't come in until we call you". So I wait week after week. I guess it never came in, all 3 cases. read more

Love this store. While it lacks the ambiance of a Whole Foods or even Trader Joes, it makes up for in space to move your body (even with a shopping cart) selection, and pricing. Ambiance is not important to me when I'm grocery shopping. .. I find what Whole Foods does with all its promotional labeling (like stamping its logo on everything it can), decorating, and other unnecessary frills to get in the way of offering quality natural foods at a reasonable cost. Bulk water machines in the store, a convenience that I have yet to find in Phoenix... Their wet rack is usually super fresh. I have seen some really sad zucchini on display and usually their fruit selection is just a bit too expensive, but I love that they have 100% organic produce. No bags offered here- like Costco, you can use a recycled box. This is an economically friendly business practice that also helps keep prices reasonable. Employees are pretty standard from my experience... Not super helpful or engaging but not miserable either. I'm going to agree with another reviewer and lament that this store is not in the Phoenix metro area. read more

I used to work at natural grocers a few yrs ago. I helped open the Missoula Mt store & absolutely LOVED IT. Moved here almost a yr ago & was SO HAPPY a natural grocers was here! Then became really bummed with a few of the people that worked here. They were ruining what this store is about. I had almost been tempted to contact corporate. Excited now to report it seems like those people have been weeded out & employees like Millie & Katie are the EXACT example of what "world class customer service is," which natural Grocers prides itself on. They are both awesome & go above & beyond. It makes me really happy that a store I've Always been proud to say I worked at has employees like this here at "my neighborhood natural grocers." Yay!! These guys are committed to organic produce which is important to my family. It's a smaller store and that makes it easier to shop. They carry more of some products than Sprouts and I like their commitment to grass fed yogurts and cheeses. Plenty of parking. Nice people. read more

Natural Grocers in Prescott has a pretty good assortment of vitamins and minerals but their produce goes bad quickly. And, they won't replace anything unless you have your receipt. Fruit and veggies take a few days to go bad in the fridge, and who keeps a grocery receipt for three or four days? Am I to expect the fruit I buy to go bad so quickly that I have to eat it all up in just a couple of days. Does this mean I have to run back to the store twice a week to ensure my fruits and veggies are always fresh? When I took in a pepper that went bad in just two days, they said I needed a receipt. Like I said, who keeps their grocery receipts in case a food goes bad. And, taking this further, who runs around buying fruit and veggies so he or she can take them back and get their money back? I have never had this issue at Trader Joes, Fry's or Raley's. These stores are happy to make the customer happy. So for my produce I'll not be shopping at Natural Grocers. read more

The Prescott store has a great selection of organic foods and produce. BUT they also have the rudest and/or apathetic employees of any store I've shopped in. Today I went in to pick up the Thanksgiving turkey I pre-ordered. I had to stand in line twice - once at Customer Service so they can validate my name on the pre-order list and to pick up my turkey and again to check out. But the Customer Service person isn't giving the cashiers the information they need to credit customers' $5 pre-order charge, so the cashier is rude to me and gets angry because I don't have my pre-order receipt. (Even though the Customer Service person obviously has my name on the pre-order list, because she gave me my turkey!) Never again. I'm headed to Sprouts. read more

I'm a fan....BUT, I've noticed chlorine smell in their Reverse Osmosis filling station water. Last time I actually tested it and YES, there is chlorine from last Saturday's water. So now I need to drive all the way to the Safeway center in PV get from the water store. read more

I just visited this store for the first time today and I loved it! I am vegan and they definitely had a lot more options for me than a typical grocery store for me to look at.They also have some bulk soap for an affordable price! :) And they don't give out plastic bags, which is awesome!! I think they still give paper bags if you need one, but I got a reusable bag. I'm only visiting Prescott, but I'll definitely be back to this store when I come up here again! :) read more

I had never been to a Natural Grocers and was pleasantly surprised at the ALL organic produce and unique selection of high quality frozen food. Like Trader Joe's, it's a smaller store, but unlike Trader Joe's, it feels like a "mom and pop". I didn't know that I had to bring my own bag but the cashier was helpful and I used a box and purchased a bag for next time. Cashier and produce guy were both helpful and informative. read more

I just moved here from Phoenix, thinking this is awesome, wholesome people, wholesome stores. Yesterday was the first time I went into this store, and it will be the last. As you walk in the floors were filthy, the restroom had no toiletries, and it too was dirty and unsanitary. We were looking for chips just plain chips, I do realize it is a natural store so I knew it would not have lays and such. I could not find any, so I asked one of the females that work there she is short with blondish hair, the only reason I am giving a description is because I want her to know I am referring to her. I asked her if she had any potato chips and she held up her hand and pointed all the chips, I told her I am looking for plain chips not kettle or corn chips, she shrugged her shoulders and kept pointing to all the chips waving her hand. I just walked away, and as I was doing so, she walks by me and loudly says hey you wanted chips glad I could help. I then went to the cashiers as I was buying something, i asked the cashier if they had plain chips, potato chips, he looked at me and said yes, over in that isle. I said to him, but which one are regular potato chips he just said they all were. I asked him if his manager would know? He shrugged his shoulders yeah I'm sure he would. I asked is he here?? Yeah he's here, described him to me, and said is there any thing else. I said no. He said good, shrugged his shoulders again. I just felt these two workers were incredibly rude. They did not smile, and were not helpful whatsoever. I will not go into that store again. Furthermore I will not recommend this story to any one. Not only was it filthy but customers service was totally lacking in every way. read more
