Anyway, the poop bags/bins are well-spaced and parking isn't an issue. The people who come here and whoever maintains this dog park truly care and do a good job at keeping it clean and pleasant for others to enjoy. This is a mulch park, so keep that in mind. I also recommend having some poop bags at the ready because it's nearly impossible to distinguish one "log" from another if you have to walk away to retrieve a bag.

I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. So I just got lucky and found this dog park at Craig Ranch, after doing a Yelp search, of course. I like this park so much better because it has plenty of shade, there are so many trees, as well as tables, so I can have a seat if I want... Neither of which are available in Allen, well very extremely minimal...They also have two separate sections, one for small pups and one for large dogs. Our pup's in the middle weight class and always wants to go in with the littles, as all of his friends are tiny. Additionally, parents pick up after their pets, so the park is kept clean. Also, parents are really good about monitoring their kids to ensure they're playing nicely and jump in, when necessary. As a result of this accidental find I tend to drive a bit further, from Allen, to McKinney, just to take our pup to this park instead Check it out!

The water fountains are clean and functioning well, the waste bags are thick and high quality and there is a TON of shade and seating which is important for those summer days. The pond for the dogs to swim in great for the summer, though if you have small dogs I recommend giving them life vests to wear as I think the water is deeper than it looks at some parts. Note that the pond is not separated between large dogs and small dogs. There is also a water fountain with a hose attachment that you can use to hose down your dogs after they go swim.
