Hard to find healthy food when traveling. I was passing through Gruene and drove past this place once. I was struck by the outside and what the door said- "Good Food Good Mood." It's true! I buzzed through the neighborhood next door, turned around, and promised not to pass it again. The inside was apparently just redone. The two kids working were super kind and patient with my multiple orders as I became increasingly smitten with this place. I started with carrot cake and a Grapefruit Rambler sparkling water. The perfect snack. Sweet and just the right amount of frosting. I went back to order a turkey and havarti wrap with a side of pasta salad. It was plenty big and very fresh. A perfect healthy dinner for my flight home. I also got a thumbprint cookie which tasted like vegan short bread. Minesh, the new owner, came out to talk with me and he was so honest and welcoming about his efforts to make this cafe a success. I gathered it was his kids who were working. Truly a lovely place. I can't recommend it enough and hope I get the chance to go back some day if I ever find myself in Gruene again. read more

Never ever in my precious toy poodle's 6 years of life (today is Moe's birthday ) taking him with me to restaurants or cafes, sitting and eating outside a 99.9% of the time, (only sat inside one time and that was the restaurant management rules, you could dine in with your dog) never ever have we had service refused to purchase food to eat outside or carry out. I'm very respectful and extremely mindful person. I know how restaurant owners can get in trouble if they don't follow the rules and let just anyone with dogs eat inside. So whenever I go to a restaurant, like I said, my dog and I sit outside but at times I have to go inside real quick to tell them I'm gonna be outside or to order at the register and then get out right away and they bring the food out. A 99.9% of the time owners are good with me doing just that. Order inside, eat outside. Except for today! First of all I'm not trying to be entitled, as I said I have a lot of respect for all the restaurants and food industry, I'm a big foodie, I love going to all the local places and having moved to a new town in beautiful Texas I already have a few favorite places that love and frequently visit every week with my fur baby Moe. So today at around 11:30am I drove a long time to go with my doggie Moe to order a cold pressed juice from one of those favorite places @naturallycafe, as many other times we had in the past since moving to town about 5 months ago. For my surprise Patric the nice guy who works in there told me that the owner was giving him a hard time for having dogs in and he was refusing to service me because my dog. I tried reminding Patric that I always order inside to eat outside but he said that the owner won't sell me anything because of my dog. I mean he could at least take my order for the last time since I was already there. I'd understand no to go back again with my dog. I requested to speak with the owner who was right there in the kitchen. Patric kindly went to tell him I'd like to speak with him but the owner didn't have the customer care, balls and respect to me as someone who has been constantly buying from his business to come out to talk to me. I just wanted to explain that I only order real quick to go or to eat/drink outside. I have been in countless restaurants and cafes with my dog during his 6 years of life and I have never ever had anyone refuse service just for ordering in the register but the owner said he had to go to the store and couldn't talk to me. BS! The owner had the opportunity to keep a great customer going back to his business every week, just by being kind, respectful and taking just 1 minute to talk to me. I would have understood a 100% and next time I wouldn't have taking my dog inside but the way he handled the situation is what has me in shock!! I felt so humiliated! I never got service refused because my doggie. For a business owner refusing to talk with a customer is just rude, disrespectful and ungrateful. Also how disgusting that the owner don't even know if my dog is a service and decided to just kick us out. If a restaurant refuses to allow you to eat with your service dog you can file a complaint with the US Department of Justice! read more

Hands down, will say that this is the best (and probably one of the only) sandwich & soup places in New Braunfels. It's extremely difficult to find healthy food in NB, I would have to drive San Antonio or Austin for a good sandwich. So glad my friend recommended this place to me because the sandwiches, soups, and salads here are delicious and best part I feel healthy eating here. It's a family owned business and is only opened on the weekdays. You can place orders for pick or dine in. They have a variety of healthy dishes to choose from and they also have smoothies. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, but it's tough with them being closed on weekends. I finally made it in--but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. When we walked in, an employee made eye contact with us and then walked straight into the kitchen without acknowledging us. That probably should've been my first red flag. We stood there waiting for a while before someone finally came to the counter. The cashier was very kind and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry--they told me they'd cover for me while I made a sandwich." Honestly, I felt bad that he couldn't even eat his own food in peace. We ordered a sandwich and a soup/sandwich combo. There was only one table ahead of us, yet it still took 30 minutes for our food to come out. With such a small menu--and simple items like sandwiches--you'd expect faster service. And if delays are common, a heads-up would be appreciated for those on a schedule but we were never told a time. What really got me was that the cashier told customers who came in 25 minutes after us that the wait time was 15-20 minutes. I wish ours had been that short, but even then, that's a pretty long wait for a sandwich. After finally getting our food, it was a disappointment. The food itself was okay, but extremely small. I'm all for paying for quality, but with the size of my sandwich and how little was in it, it just wasn't worth it. I paid $12 for mayo and bread. While waiting, I read through other reviews and saw I wasn't alone in this experience. I want to support small businesses, but it's hard when it feels like customers aren't a priority. read more

I don't like leaving a bad review but I recently visited the restaurant with a group of 11. One of my friends came over to me and said she was told she had to go because she said the person working the register told the manager she called him an idiot. My friend said she definitely did not. I know my friend and she would not do that. There is a reason it's voted Best Healthy restaurant in New Braunfels (HINT! It's the ONLY ONE!) My salad was $15 and was small, measly, and looks as if it could have come from your local HEB! At this point you may as well save your money and go to HEB! My salad came with avocado, apples, pecans, and feta. They gave me perhaps a tablespoon of feta, 1/4 of a teaspoon of pecans, and squishy, old apple pieces. I usually never want to write poor reviews, but this was just a shame for the price, quality, and presentation. I am APPALLED at the treatment I just experienced by the OWNER. My sister is in the hospital for a miscarriage. I ordered her a sandwich and smoothie online and her midwife went to pick it up along with her own order she placed. I can't give you a refund but I guess I can give you a credit of some sort. The thing is I made that smoothie and now I have to throw it in the trash!!!' (Let me include his tone was aggressive) And then he said, 'Well who picked it up?' I said 'my sister's midwife' He said 'well if you know the smoothies not in the bag why would she leave without it' I explained to him my sister is in the hospital for a miscarriage. I ordered the food and the midwife was picking it up. We have all gone through a lot today.' He said 'well my wife has had 2 miscarriages so im sorry, but no I won't be giving you a refund' At which point I was livid and said 'Keep the $10, I don't want to do business with you ever again. I've been eating at your restaurant for nearly 10 years or however long you've been open. But I will never eat there again.' And you know what he replied with? 'Good I don't want your business.' And hung up on me!! I did nothing to warrant this treatment. What awful customer service. I've never been treated this way by any establishment. No one should be treated like this. I ordered a half sandwich half soup, got the wrong sandwich , called in for the one I ordered, the owner after much discussion of what I actually ordered, said sometimes we get it wrong, but it should still be good- (it wasn't good for my preferences) and after clarifying the kind I wanted and that I prefer it untoasted and asked for it remain untoasted. Just bread in the side he said that simply wasn't possible. That the style of their sandwich was their "thing". After further discussion I said fine a soup or a salad is fine, he said whatever I wanted however I wanted with a strong encouragement to salad - I finally settled on soup and he proceeded to charge me for the replacement. Really? Very disappointing. Very dissatisfied and frustrated and most likely won't be coming in again. Which is a shame as I'd like to support healthy eating options in gruene as there seem to be few and far between options. Sir, please do better next time. This place is awesome! I originally went to another health food store around the corner from this one looking for a juice that contained beets. The other store ran out of beets so I looked on Yelp and saw this place. I am so happy I looked and decided to call. I was able to have a very long conversation with the owner, Jackie, about different juices and being healthy. She was so very informative and knows her stuff. She made me the juice called beetle juice. It was amazing. I've never ever in my life eaten a beet before and my first time wasn't that bad at all. I mean, it has an "earthy" taste to it but it wasn't bad! Come to think about it, she did not charge me for my drink. I think she was so wrapped up in making sure that I was informed about the different elements to juicing and my well-being that she did it from her heart. While talking to her I felt her genuineness and it made me feel relaxed and very comfortable talking with her. She even let me borrow a few books on juicing from her store. If that doesn't tell you how much of an awesome person she is, I don't know what else to tell you. I know she cares for each and everyone of her customers. I will most definitely be making my way back here more often to support this local business. I'd encourage and recommend anyone looking for a healthy spot to get juices and food to come here. Wow!! I'd drive back to New Braunfels just to come here again. This was a very homie type of place. You feel like family as soon as you step in. The owner is very kind and has a very kind spirit. Love that they make everything from scratch and they offer an awesome lunch special. I tried the roasted veggie sandwich with the quinoa salad which all awesome. They didn't skimp on the avocado!! This locally owned cafe is tucked away in the Gruene historic village shopping center. The owner and his staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the different types of food on their menu. They definitely know hospitality. They have a small section dedicated to buying books which is pretty cool. There's a cool story behind the book section too! I came here with a friend and we were presently surprised. The cafe has a quiet atmosphere so it's a good place to talk. They are accommodating on the good and have vegetarian options available. I had the turkey torta which comes with a side of salad or soup I believe, a slice of homemade carrot cake and an izze fizz drink.
